Was I the only Melbourne supporter at today’s game?

I was the only Melbourne supporter in the area that I sat amongst 1000 stinking Carlton Supporters.

Funny thing was while all other team supporters have paid me out over the last 6 weeks for Melbourne's tanking efforts, the Carlton supporters were today very supportive of our "experimenting" tactics over the last 6 weeks. Spoke in detail about the fine art of tanking with a Carlton supporter who was all over our recent tactics and all for them. He spoke about Carlton of 2007 and the tactics they used and others Carlton supporters around joined in the conversation and all seemed supportive. He suggested Frawley coming off mid way through the third with Melbourne pressing as "classy experimentation" translated as "sound tanking". I tend to agree, but it was unnecessary we simply fielded a team way to inexperienced to threaten today.

That's really kind of funny. Getting in the middle of a pack of baying Blues supporters, and they all suddenly enjoy a cup of tea and sing the praises of tanking.

I would have thought they love the dees because now they're no the only cub to have tanked this aggressively. ie, they don't look as bad when they have a second club to share the hatred.

We still have a long way to go to reach Carlton's lofty tanking standards. They won 4 out of their 1st 11 games and none of there last 11.

Melbourne on the other hand won 1 of their 1st 11 and 3 of their last 11.

We are playing the same game essentially but we are not in the their league.

Anyone hear that little boundary nerd maher on ch10 this arvo? Every chance he got he sunk the boot in about our tactics and implications about our honesty.

Yeah, I believe he is what the average person, with half a brain would refer to as a [censored]. Such a small, pitiful little man too. I feel sorry him down there.

In other news, our turn out today was again appalling. I was there though and ran into both Colin Garland and Dennis Commetti. Interesting day in the end, turns out I'm easily taller than Garland. :P

It's funny what you hear....... On the way out, caught two Greeks having a conversation that went something like this:

No.1 I hope we play the bulldogs in the finals

No.2 Yeah we beat them every time

No.1 St Kilda aren't much chop at the moment either

No.2 Yeah I think we are favourites to win it all now!!!!!!!!

I just had a chuckle, OK, I Laughed out loud so much they turned and glared at me

That's a good point. However, our matchday tanking is the worst I've seen. For 120 minutes we made half a dozen moves that were worse than the no-tag on Trav in round 22 of 97.

No doubt like most of the other Carltank supporters he was embarrassed about how inept Carltank players were in the first half!!!! Still trying to cover up their efforts against MFC 2 games before in teh Kruzer cup..

Hey. shouldn't expect any Bluebaggers to let the facts get in the way - they havent in regard to salary cap, external deals courtesy of Visy, financials ala cost anyalysis for the"Legends" stand or the fact they had to borrow a player each Saturday from "Coburg College" to pay some years ago.

All 5 of us were there and the Carlton and neutral supporters there all agreed that MFC is doing exactly the right thing by our club at the moment!!

Andrew maher is just another in the long line of melbourne haters who dont get it. Garry Lyon got up him about his hysterics a few weeks ago it was awesome.. he just is a man who wishes he played footy because he is so desperate to be involved and be worthy..

5 start tool!

A-grade tool if you ask me. Don't know how Watson copes. To get up so early each morning, to have Maher greet you everytime you walk in the studio.......and hear him talk about the Blues...

If he was questionning "our honesty", as you say demon_josh_au, he is a fair dinkum knucklehead.

Agree about the andy maher comments, this guy is an absolute loser. You think as a supporter, he'd be happy that his team won and are going to play finals, but no, all he can think about is whinging about us getting the priority pick and continuously adding more fuel to the tanking issue.

TBH i reckon he is jealous of our list and knows that we will soon leap frog his team.

Thank God the three Carlton muppets chose this week to miss training as we would have won if they had not played on Saturday!!!!!

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
