Massively disappointing, although as someone said it probably does sum up his career.

If Stevens could play after he did his cork we can carry Wheels. It's not like we have that many fit players anyway :P

Oh, & how did he do his cork?? :D

How many games do you have to play for your son to be eligible for Father/Son..?

I could think of nothing better than a little Whelan jr.

Yeah, little Whelan junior 6'2" & 95Kgs.

I think you would have to remove his leg to stop him from playing next week. Always added the hardness this club so sorely lacked. Love ya Wheels and hope you can stick around in some capacity to guide the young blokes who obviously look up to you.

Just so true.

It would be almost fitting to miss his own sendoff through injury really. In my opinion he is one player we never saw the best of thanks to his body letting him down.

Really hope he's able to get up for next week. Like so many others have already said, I'll be terribly disappointed if he misses the 150 milestone.

I disagree. We saw the best of him - which was his physical presence, tackling prowess and never-say-die attitude.

Thanks Wrecker.

His hit on James Hird will go on as one of the most enduring images in MFC history.

Eptomised the way that man played the game.

Do a Sammy Newman for him. Let him run through the banner and play a couple of minutes then he can grab his leg and go off. He bloody well deserves it and the game means nothing so why not? One of my favourites and I hope he will be given a job as something like "indigenous co-ordinator" so he can give the young boys some guidence and help as he has done as a player.

I saw on the Sunday Footy Show, Doc Larkins said Wheels season is over.

I am totally gutted by this. Was really looking forward to seeing him carried off the ground next week on teammates shoulders. I guess instead he'll do a lap in the back of a car. I guess we'll just have to make do with that. :(

This season has been a sick joke.

I hope there is some way that Wheels can get up for the game.

Larkins was speculating.

I rewound it to hear it again and he mumbled "you'd think Whelan's season is over after that injury" or something to that effect.

Whelan is still a chance, I'd say a massive chance after Bailey's post-game interview.

Also in that show, Whelan was doing the handball and mentioned or suggested that he was looking forward to play his last game, with Wheels and Robbo, so you never know

Yeah, I heard Bails after the game say that they took Wheels off because of back related tightness in the hammy or something along those lines.

Hopefully it is nothing more. I thought maybe this morning that Larkins had some more immediate information. I guess we'll know more tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Poor bloke, gutted for him. First he misses out on the 150 heroes list, then he misses out on the 150 gamers list. The man is cursed!

I hope we play him anyway, he's a tough-nut. Give him a couple of jabs (a la Adam Simpson) and let him go out the way he deserves, on the MCG in front of us fans who have admired his hard, aggressive style since day one. He's only a little bloke, but boy did he pack a punch!

Feel for ya Wheels. You are a club great, and it's been an honour watching you go about your footy for the MFC, all the best mate..

For a long time he was my favourite player for the club, i admired the way he went about his footy and his guts to keep coming back after soft tissue injuries. In a sick way it's almost fitting that he bows out this way, but for him to be left stranded on 149 is wrong in so many ways. I'm really going to miss watching him play, but his legacy will continue through Davey, there is no doubt how much of an influence on his career.

Farewell Wheels, you will always be welcome back at the MFC.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
