Probably because he's named on Melbourne's extended bench.

Absolutely right. I doubt whether Moloney will be playing in this game. The Scorpions have named a 13 man interchange but 4 MFC players will be eliminated tomorrow night when the Demons announce their final squad of 22. I expect one additional player will be the emergency for Sunday. In the end the team will have five interchange with Ryan (I believe that he's a Gippsland Power player) being the 23rd man under a new VFL rule allowing a TAC Cup player to take part as an extra player.

As indicated in my edit of the first post on this thread, the maximum number of MFC players allowed in this game is 12.

bit scrappy.. ought to be interesting when the Scorps get the breeze. Some nice touches y Watts, unlucky not to score. Some good efforts by Juice accompanied by some perculiar after-thinking :o ..theres a time to be clever..and a time to be sure...the latter is about 99% for mine

Interesting seeing Watts play a defensive role...somewhere off the flank. Quite composed in crap weather. Earlier mistake was misjudging the headwind..he'll learn..lol

Bennell is not playing for casey so you would think he would be back in the melbourne side. watts is getting a few touches but his attack on the footy is pretty poor. You would say he is pretty soft. He would want to fix that as thats not going to cut it in the seniors

It took a long time for the Scorps to hit their straps. Now well in control.

Do you have any reserves details KC?

Thanks

I'd like to see you go in harder. He is 18 and weighs only just over 80kg so it's not surprising his attack on the footy is not up to scratch. He is, however, all class with the football in his hands.

I don't know what makes you say he is soft.

He is playing on the wing, but he is clearly playing an outside role.

He laid a couple of tackles, and hasn't been caught in a marking situation where he had to stand up and take a contested mark.

He and Whelan are obviously a class above. Watts' one- handed pick- up of the ball and 180 degree turn in the first quarter was superb. It's that sort of stuff that makes you say "[censored] this kid is gonna be special". I'm also impressed that he has gone out of his way to help his teammates up off the bottom of packs to congratulate them for their hard work.

Bartram has been good. These conditions really suit him. Same for Valenti.

Miller is the best key forward on the ground, kicking 2.3, whereas Newton stuffed up to easy shots at goal in the first and hasn't been seen since.

I really like Wall. Anyone know how old he is?

He's had a couple of classy touches but the previous post has a point.

Having said that I'm happy to wait for another two pre-seasons before having too many expectations on him.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
