Firstly I figure the side will be Tasmania related, not Hobart or Launceston to avoid the split allegiances.

Do you think the side will be Tassie, Tasmania or Tasmanian?

Obviously Tigers and Devils are the first things that come to mind for the team name but probably can't be used for obvious reasons. Has anyone got any better ideas?

The Apples?

The Quolls?

The Frogs?

The Blue Gums?

Pretty average, but am trying to think of something Tasmanian. Any better ideas, or maybe something completely different?

Previously sides from Tassie have been : Tasmanian Devils and the underage side playing as Tassie Mariners.

The Tasmanian Devils are a thing of the past; how about the Tasmanian Tumours.

Can we have devils and demons in the same comp? i can't really see a reason why not if the jumpers are different? Maybe a black/brown jumper with a white horizontal stripe like a tassie devil?

Tasmania Kangaroos?

Beat me to it HT, Its a perfect fit. Play 6-8 in tassie and the big games at the G/Dome.

The only other one that comes to mind is the tassie power!

I lived in Tassie for 5 years. Every team in Tassie is a Devil or a Tiger it is bloody boring and predicable.

However If any team was formed in Tassie It should be called the "TATERS"

We used to go to Nth Hobart oval and watch the Devils play when they were good under Ex Dee Beams. We called them the taters.

We named all the players, Wedges, Gnocchi, The Masher, Spud, Kennebec, Pink eye, Chips, Frenchy, Jason Heatley was still called the Heater though.

We called Nth Hobart over The Deep Fryer.

It was great. The next year another group of drunks were also calling them the Taters and even had there own T Shirts made up.

So if any Team came from Tassie they should call them after what it is really famous for......the good old spud.

GOOOOO TATERS!!!!

That is probably close to the most stupidist thing I have ever read.

"The friendly family club" :)

I think "The mighty Apples" would be great. They can get the fruit people to sponsor them, and have a large apple running around the field.

Maybe go with a green uniform and use it to camouflage their players on the field for sneaky possession, they could colour match to the grass, be stealthy team....

or could they go with something like the 'southern sharks?' or tasman somethings? rather than tasmania...

southern stars? with a southern cross on the jumper? doesn't sound great to me but the type of thing the afl would go for.

i'd prefer to see the afl stick with traditional type team names, 2-3 colours with big broad jumpers (stripes, sashes etc), and a song that is recorded by with about 10 blokes singing and a brass band backing it.

Yeah but if ya ship richmond tigers off to Tassie, you get the 'TASSIE TIGERS'.. ive been calling for it for ages, give heaps to the tigers supporters at the herald-sun

God i hate the tiges and their supporters.. and wallet, i mean wallace..

the yellow strip could be turned horizontally, then add the bottom part to form a big 'T' (for tassie tigers)

and they could put the map of Tassie, right on the front of their white shorts, cause we all know how they're a bunch of [censored]. ;)

I agree with ya keep it traditional and oridginal and the song well look at ports and freos,

I dont no about the southern cross its to iconic.
