Wow...

Morton busy, McLean strong...

Dees smashing them in the stats and two weeks in a row kicking straight as a die at goal.

only 3 points in it...

MFC 9.2 56

FFC 8.5 53

Morton is unbelievable!

Anyone who says he can't kick should get their eyes checked.

I don't want to get carried away by one half of football but there was some fantastic play there by the Demons who have definitely shaken the Doggies...and Cale Morton is a budding superstar.

Pity we can't get more supporters down to see them play.

OMG thankyou. I keep reading on the CALE MORTON thread people saying he is a bad kick but he is a great kick and has fantastic composure.

This kid is still so young and he is getting so much of the ball.

Sorry im very biased with cale, But he is such a tallent.

Cant ask for anymore from our players. We didnt win (which i was not unhappy about, shh) and a lot of our young players did well.

The ONLY negative for the match was petterd. 7 touches and 1 goal it pretty poor.

Yeah... but he kicked the clutch goal that Miller and Sylvia (and Robbo) couldn't!

He is playing as a forward so that means nothing. He was poor.

You were the one who gave us his stats, so it obviously does mean something.

When you are playing a fair bit as a 4th option forward, you will have games where you won't see much of the ball.

My point is, if he had of played off the half back, like he has before, he could have easily picked up 20 touches, and then you would not have mentioned him.

You dont get it. I was saying he is playing in the forward line, so you telling me he would get more disposals in the backline means nothing beucause he is playing in the forward line.

you can only base him on his performance. I like petterd but can admit when he is not playing that well.

I can see your point but he is not needed in the backline.

Hope he does better next week.

Cheney had another solid game. His attack on the ball a number of times set up thrusts forward. He's worth another next week. Another thing I realised is he's quite tall. I remembered him being around Peter Walsh's height, but maybe I was just blinded by the comparisons the first few times I watched him. When he stood next to Johnson, he was comfortably taller than him.

Johnson is smaller than what you would think. Cheney is only just 6 ft. 184 cm.

Your right Mr Morton.......

But the truth is that playing out of our forward line can be very difficult at times (delivery can be very suspect very frequently, despite the excellent intent), and therefore if you are judging a player simply on possessions then it is way harder to get these when up forward than it would have been if playing in the back half. He wasn't terrible either, just not as good as we have seen. He'll be better.

Petterd is not a forward. As a result, he isn't having as big an influence on games as I think he could be having. He should be played up the ground. But since Bailey seems to want to play him there, then we have to judge him on his work as a forward, which hasn't been that good. I'd prefer it not to happen, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him out of the team next week.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w
