Round 8 crowd prediction vs Dogs

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, it'll be between the late 20,000s and the early 30s. There's still too many Melbourne supporters that don't come to every game. Alright, buy a membership, but we also need them there on the day, otherwise we write out a check to the AFL every time.

33,500*

Hey you stole from me (34,000) :D

I'll be grinning even bigger if it comes up 34,500... ha! And weather's perfect for footy on a Saturday afternoon at the 'G ^_^

28,279 at the MCG.

Congrats to montasaurus with 27,650

I presume most dees fans and foot dept would be very dissapointed with this crowd. Apparantly they were hoping for 40,000 and with a Saturday fixture, a text message to members, an email to members, an add in the paper, and press conforence and article coverage throughout the week encouraging people to come, they would have not been overly happy when looking at the thousands of empty seats.

Winners:

Round 1: (H) Melbourne vs North Melbourne - 28,707 at the MCG - Nugget Jones (29,000)

Round 2: (A) Collingwood vs Melbourne - 43,176 at the MCG - Azzkika (45,000)

Round 3: (A) Port Adelaide vs Melbourne - 21,030 at AAMI Stadium - Carn Dees (21,091)

Round 4: (A) Richmond vs Melbourne - 40,763 at the MCG - QueenC (41,000)

Round 5: (H) Melbourne vs Adelaide - 14,129 at the MCG - AzzKika (16,000)

Round 6: (H) Melbourne vs Geelong - 36,932 at the MCG - steveheals (36,922)

Round 7: (A) West Coast vs Melbourne - 35,209 at Subiaco Oval - Carn dees (34,890)

Round 8: (H) Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs - 28,279 at the MCG - montasaurus (27,650)

Disgraceful

For me, that was the most disappointing thing on Saturday. Sitting there 30 minutes before the game, I really felt devastated as I looked around the ground. Fifteen minutes before the game started whilst it had improved a little, I knew the turn up was quite poor. Saturday at the 'G' too. Doesn't go well for fixturing Saturday games for the Dees.

Why we should have at least had 35,000 approx:-

* We were playing a top 4 side in the Bulldogs. Note* Should have been more Bulldogs fans too.

* We'd played some exciting footy the previous week.

* Saturday 2pm at the G.

* Mark of respect to Dr Cordner prior to commencement of game.

WE HAVE ONE MORE GAME AT THE G ON A SATURDAY (2pm) THIS SEASON:-

Round 14: Melbourne v West Coast Eagles.

FCS TURN UP!!!

Really really poor turnout.

Don't whinge that we get stuck with Sunday games, then not turn up on a perfectly good day for football.

Those who didn't go missed out on a really good game where we showed plenty.

While I thought we outnumbered the Dogs, there still weren't enough of us, which is the same old story.

If our supporters are not a force, what chance does our club have of being one?

What do we have to do to get our supporters to the game. It was Saturday, the weather was good (albeit they did forecast rain) and the team was a chance after last week. I watched Jimmy look around the stands whilst waiting for the team to come out and I could feel his pain. Even after texting the members to come and they still don't turn up. It is frustrating for us who do turn up but what must it be like to Jimmy who has put his life on hold to build up the club. Against Hawthorn it is going to be worse. It is no good whingeing about the twilight game etc etc. The team need to know that they have support. They need to hear that support and if all they hear is a whimper well if the club gets to that precipice again we will all know why. Why does Collingwood still get its members to turn up despite it playing woeful football. We don't have to act like bogan scum members but some of us could learn a lesson in being passionate about our team and that means turn up whether it is a twilight game rain, hail or shine. JUST TURN UP.

here here,

I had a good look around as well waiting for the teams to run out. Guess what - Reserved members seats in both sthern and nthern stand on the ground were lucky to be 30% full. Thats our problem people! it is these members that are good enough to buy memberships but never turn up. On sat I was glad to see 4 seats behind us full (1st time in 3yrs), hang on they were doggies supporters! I can't understand the selfishness of buying a reserved seat and never using it, thus locking another member out of this seat. DISCRACEFUL!

The sooner a members reserve is opened the better!

So to all those fairweathers who didn't turn up on sat = suffer, you missed a great performance and get used to more sunday games next year.

Yeah, well said. We simply have too many fair weather supporters. Mind you there are tones of people that say they 'support' Melbourne, yet never come to games.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
