Big test for Miller and Newton

It was great to see the form of Miller and Newton on the weekend against less than spectacular opponents. But this week Rutten will probably go to Newton and Bock will go to Miller. Tough assignments for both. Miller will be under the spotlight more given his form and Newton did enough to draw attention to himself.

How these guys play will be a barometer for the result of the game and also an indication as to where each of them are at in their careers. A big test for both!

I have more trust in our midfield to play well, im more worried about newton and miller. They have to start well.

Yeh i agree with most of the comments and assessments here. Am really looking forward to seeing how Newton goes. Think he even said in an interview this week that his kicking let him down, so he needed to practice at training his set shots. Hopefully he's done that and we can see an improvement.

Definitely going to be a tough ask for Miller this week if he gets Bock. But I saw Rutten last week. He didn't look entirely fit. I don't think he's as good as he has been in previous years.

At the other end of the ground, Scott Stevens might wreak havoc if we don't get the match up right. Probably going to be Martin, but I don't know the heights.

Good points by everyone re: Our forwardline battle and the midfield headache. However I think that we can safely say that our power of backmen can adequately cover the Adeliade forward line: Tippet, Walker, Porplyzia and co Vs Martin, Warnock, Rivers, Frawley. Key will be how we handle McLeod, also what we do when Thompson or Goodwin go forward. This will be the real test of Dunn and what is he really made up of. I think that we match up pretty well against this current Adeliade line up, without getting too ahead of ourselves we are definitely not without hope this week at all.

Oh yeah, Hope they both continue their form from last week as well as Colin Sylvia. I beilieve in these three, If we are to win we need these 3 firing like they were last week.

Our midfield needs to be on their game. Got smashed in the clearances last week. Contested possession was really good but we need McLean, Moloney, and Jones to continue their good work and get some help from others.

I can foresee some frustrating moments where their speed will take it very easily through the middle of the ground, we just need to give them the same treatment.

I think it will be an open game, if the weather holds.

Last week yes, this week no. 14 deg, rain, hail etc. If either of these talls have any impact we will be lucky. I have a feeling newton may be left out for maric at the last minute so we are a bit smaller and more mobile for the wet? Well at least thats what I would do

The midfield is the key to see Newton and Miller having a solid game. Last week we were smashed in the clearances, even though Meeson got a lot of his hands on the ball. If we can win the clearances and get that ball in early it would put the Crows defence under some pressure. Players like Moloney, Jones and McLean need to get their hands on the ball early and impose themselves on the game and get the ball inside 50. Although there a lot of haters of Mr Juice out there, there is no denying he has a bigger body and can provide a good contest, instead of Miller up there by himself!

Yes in the past we have held on to players like Newton & its a big reason why the rest of the Competition laughs at us.

Time to get tough. Miller i would keep. But Newton just hasn't got it.
