  1. Hello all, just thought id give another report on Mr Jackson Trengove, as i was at the game yesterday (Glenelg supporter) although the loss was less saddening by JT's performance. Ive seen a lot of great players come up through the ranks of the SANFL (Gibbs, Cooney, Griffen etc) and i truly believe that Trengove is the best out of all of them! He's got great disposal, good mark makes good decisions but i believe his best attribute is his ability to get the ball away while being tackled. Almost Gary Ablett like, hes extremely hard to tackle. He's a hard worker and was all over the ground yesterday! He's playing against men and hes matching them toe to toe. He's ability to stand up in a prelim and pretty much win the game for his club just shows how much talent this boy has. Next Sunday he'll be going for an SANFL cleansweep, Premierships in 19's, Reserves and now A Grade. The kid is contagious for success. I heard that the ABC commentary were giving a massive wrap saying he was like an Aston Martin, "smooth as silk" i believe was the phrase! After yesterday's performance, i think hes made the 2nd choice for the MFC quite easy. The kid is an absolute superstar and im sure Scully and JT will be favourites for Rising Star already!! BRING ON NOVEMBER 27TH!!!!
  2. I live in Adelaide and they do rate him fairly high over here. The only reason i say this is because he WANTS to leave. So i think we can undervalue a little bit, Port would rather take 2 good picks, rather than letting him go for nothing. Port have also stated that they are going to play Trade week very hard this year. Im Still being a little optimistic
  3. What would everyone think if we gave up Pick 18 and 34 for Boak? Means we would get another class midfielder to compliment Mr. Tom Scully and could take John Butcher with Pick 2. I think that would satisfy many Demon supporters. We could then look to trade others to try and get a mid 20's pick aswell. Valenti and Miller should be shopped around, Maybe Sydney for their 2nd or 3rd round pick. Am i just talking rubbish or is it a realistic option?
  4. Totally agree with you here HammerTime. There is no doubt Brock loves the club and always wanna give 100%. But is just seems his body is not working the way he would like to. He is TERRIBLY slow, not only in running, but also in his disposal and decision making. He had something like 6 clangers today and had a kicking effiecincy of of 17%! Numbers that just aren;t good enough for this standard, let alone a future captain of this club! Maybe a run in the 2's, just to get some cofidence back, might be the avenue to see the real Brock back!
  5. This Poll is an absolute joke!!! To have one of the greatest Football teams of ANY code of Football merge with the possibly the scrubbiest football club of all history is lunacy!! The Melbourne Football Club is one of the oldest Football clubs in the history of any Football code in the world! I believe it is the in the top 20 oldest! Also one of the few who are still operating and playing! This club is Australian Rules Football! To have it merged with any other club would be absolutely ludicrous! The MFC is steeped in tradition and history that no one will ever be able to take away from us. You think of the greats of AFL: Ron Barrassi Jr, E.J Whitten and the greatest coach of all time Norm Smith. Melbourne lays claim to some of the greatest people in the history of the AFL! When people ask me who I support in the AFL i have no hesitations in saying the Melbourne Demons, even though i know i will cop some slack. I'm so proud to go for this great club and every person who posts on this forum are true examples of why it will always be the Melbourne Demons Football Club. All the posters on here share the same passion I do and us fans are the reason why we make the club so great. Breaking the 30,000 member mark is just the beginning! We are showing the AFL world that we don't care about the results atm and that we are in for the long road no matter the suffering on the way! We are ranked 9th in the member ladder atm, this poll should have nothing to do with MFC, why not merge Bulldogs and North, St Kilda and North, Sydney and Bulldogs??!! In a few years time, we will make Wayne Jackson eat his own words by making the finals and being financially stable because all greats things in life come with sacrifice and hard work, and that's what we are going through right now! So Shut up Wayne Jackson and worry about playing Golf and sipping on your Pims!!! WE ARE THE MELBOURNE DEMONS FOOTBALL CLUB and neither YOU or ANYONE else will take that away from us! MFC EST. 1858 - Deceased - NEVER!!!
  6. I think one of the key reasons why the backline has been playing so well, has been the full fitness of a Mr. Jarred Rivers! He really is great to watch, reads the play so well and put his body on the line, time and time again! No doubt Frawley has been the most improved player in 2009. This bloke never gets beat! A lot of people were on his back last year, but we have to realize its a massive learning curve to become a KP backline player and by god has he learnt!! Im really excited about young Bennell! I think the best way to describe him is smooth! Jus takes everything in his stride and this is from a player who has only played 5 AFL games. Only going to get better with more gametime.
  7. The midfield is the key to see Newton and Miller having a solid game. Last week we were smashed in the clearances, even though Meeson got a lot of his hands on the ball. If we can win the clearances and get that ball in early it would put the Crows defence under some pressure. Players like Moloney, Jones and McLean need to get their hands on the ball early and impose themselves on the game and get the ball inside 50. Although there a lot of haters of Mr Juice out there, there is no denying he has a bigger body and can provide a good contest, instead of Miller up there by himself!
  8. Your totally right here DD, i think the problem is when he isn't nullifying his opponent and when he gets some freedom and has the ball in his hands!! His disposal is average at best and my heart always skips a beat when hes about to use the ball. His shutting down and tagging of opponents has been fantastic and is getting the job done for the past few weeks and that's why he's in the team. If he became a better ball-user and started to get a little more footy knowledge, there is no reason why he couldn't become a Cameron Ling for the Melbourne Football Club. He will stay in the 22 this week, and make everyone a bit unhappy with Maric as an emergency again this week.
  9. Great to see Jetta is playin Back Pocket this week:O!!! People may bag me, but im kinda exciting to see how Newton is gonna go on Sunday! Hopefully he gets a good run and earns his place in the forward line! This really should be his make or break season for Juice. Maric shouldn't even be named on the bench. Should be in the starting 18. PJ should have a run in the 2's and also Cheney. Also keen to see the progress of Bennell!!
  10. I believe if we do fail to win more than 4 games, Pick No.1 & 2 will be used on Scully and Butcher. Scully is almost a given, a classy player who will almost walk into our 22. I haven't seen much of Butcher, but although the midfield is a little lackluster our forward line is terrible at the moment. Watts will certainly become a 80 goal a year player, but if we do have just one power-forward it would make our game a little predictable. Having another power forward gives our midfield another option to use. So i believe that a forward must certainly be looked at as a high pick in the draft. If Butcher is the best on offer, than we should pick him up. But no doubt Scully is cut ahead of the rest. Is there anyone else is Victoria who is setting the VFL on fire atm? Here is SA there's no real youngster who could be touted as a Number 1 pick.
  11. In : Maric, Newton, Wonna, Bail Out : MCLEAN, MILLER, Dunn, Jetta
  12. With such a young list and a lot of new players, what are your expectations for the game against Port on Sunday? Everyone is expecting us to get beat by 10+goals, but i find it hard to think that losing by less 10 goals can be an achievement. For me i want to see a competitive 4 qtr match. Against Kangaroos we were for 3 qrts and against the scum we were for a half. This week i would like us to stick with our opponents for the whole match!! No more getting outscored 7 goals to 1 in a quarter! Also kicking more than 10 goals would be nice, but then again beggars cant be choosers:p!
  13. I think its time that Newton gets a real crack, let him play for 5 weeks in a row no matter how bad he plays. Give him set goals such as marks inside 50, tackles in the 50 and of course a goal target. I know a lot of people on the messageboard are big haters of Juice but lets face it, atm we really have nothing else in tall forwards. Miller is good at CHF leads great up the ground, however he needs to get a football brain. He's done it a few times this year, when he marks the ball on the 50 and rather than slowing it down and letting the team get forward he blazes away to Bate or Petterd who are 4 on 1, which results in a turnover and usually costs us a goal. With Newton in the goal-square it will give midfielders a bigger option to kick to. If he doesnt meet the targets the coaching staff gives him, back to the 2's and serioulsy looking at delisting him!!
  14. Beamer and Rivers need to have a injury free season and then they may seriously considered for captaincy in the comming years. Rivers may have the advantage by bein younger could be a captain for more years. However Beamers determination and on field talent shows that he also is a great leader. Cam Bruce is softer than a pillow and Green will be too old and for the greater good of the club, let a younger demon take the role. Hopefully Rivers gets it, a great Port Augusta boy:p!!
  15. With our forward playing like under15's, why not give Juice a go! Ports defence is not the strongest in the league and maybe he could do some damage! We all know that we are lacking a tall leading forward and maybe Newton can fill that gap until Watts is ready! Bate just can't do it and you never know what you can get with Sylvia! Cheney definitely deserves his spot. I think that Jetta and Bennell should maybe have a game in the 2's and get a good feel of the ball. Don't think there is a point of having Bartram and Dunn in the same team. Wishing Maric was on the I/C though !
  16. The future captain of this Great Club should be someone who can be an inspiration on the field! Green can snare a few goals and do the odd special moment. But for me i would rather see Jarred Rivers or Brent Moloney become Captain. These types of players who will stand up for their team-mates and get the team going. Whether it be Rivers doing a trademark run with the flight, eye-on the ball mark or Moloney winning the ball in the middle and kicking a 50 metre goal. At the moment their are too many passengers Mclean is unfortunately been one so far, sure he has just come back for injury, but if he is suppose to be the future captain of this club, he has to do what is best for it. Get himself right so he can play the Football we all know he can!
  17. The one thing that Miller does hav going for him is that he is a big body and at CHF he can crash into the bodies at the centre bounces! Thats one aspect that Russell Robertson cant provide as a CHF! Brad is fantastic leading up the ground and taking a mark, to often though he wants 2 handpass off.He needs 2 become more confident with his kicking and goal kicking. If he does this through pre-season maybe 2008 can be Millers year.
