MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Demonland

Recommended Posts

The club has asked Nineteen (Geoff Sowden) and Judee of Demonology to assemble a team to carry out a brief telephone campaign to help us get past the magic 30,000 members mark.

Volunteers are urgently required for Mondays & Wednesday evenings of 27 & 29 April and 4 & 6 May 2009. The campaign is only for the next fortnight and if you can help - even on one night - it would be greatly appreciated.

The venue is at the Melbourne Football Club offices in the Southern Stand, MCG from 6.00pm to 8.00 pm with parking available underneath.

PLEASE respond here (to stimulate others) & you can get to Geoff directly on 0425 832 522 or [email protected].

I'd love to do it. I've been looking for a way to help out the club like this, even if it is something small.

I'm working the nights of the 27th & 29th -- not sure about the 4th & the 6th though.

If I have either or both of these off work I'll definitely come down and do it.

Won't be able to let you know for a week though. Wish I could help more.

Count me in. I am actually working in a call center at present (get me outta there...) so would be more than happy to get out of the office early and help out the Dees.

Can i nominate Yze Magic? Because if he is anywhere near as persistent and as he is about his hate for Cameron Bruce he will probably sell hundreds of memberships!

HaHa! That's Good. I am working night shift so i cannot help out, (would be honoured to work from the MFC offices) but would love to know the rubbing total.

Good luck to all.

Well, did we get to 30k?

Think you will just have to wait for the official announcement ... sorry hate to make an "unofficial statement" ;)

We had a great night ... huge thanks to all who joined up tonight. I really enjoyed myself.

Should mention it was an absolute positive buzz talking to fellow Melbourne members "asking them to join up"

Now dont forget the "Dob In a Demon" promotion ... plenty work still needs to be done.

A milestone night as the club burst through the 30K mark at about 7.30pm.

(Hopefully its a one way trip.)

Thanks to tonight's attendees of Peter, Judith (No2), Sean, Bruce, Bill, Michael, Anna, Daniel & Geoff D.

The latter two worked away at the "Dob in a Demon" responses & were getting just over 10% immediate sign ups, plus many considering. Hard Yakka. Good results.

Alias Ken Albiston signed up a family that had knocked back a Michael Newton call from the recent players ring around. They'd slipped through MN's hands, but were not quick enough for our Kenny.

This was at 7.30pm & is formally accredited with breaking the 30 banner.

Irish Michael got the BOG for the night, but they kept saying "Sure Jimmeeee" as they signed up.

Ten more irish accents on phones & we could have a go at the big 40!!!

50% of volunteers are first timers, & a special thanks to them.

Next week is the last week.

Can you assist?

Fantastic, well done to all, go Demons!

Now, let's push on to 31,000. My predicted total of 31,484 is still looking good.

Oh the irony! :D

Great job everyone and a brilliant result to get to 30,000 well before the cut-off date.

I actually just phoned 3AW to try and put out a challenge to Neil Mitchell ... I read his comments in the newspaper re Colin Sylvia.

IMHO .. if he wants to have a go it one of our boys maybe he should try it himself. I did it for the first time last night and its not easy ... but it is great fun.

Neils a Melbourne supporter ... so I'm I. Lets both do our bit to get this club back to where we should be.

So Neil ... if your prepared to give it a go ... I'm prepared to do it again. You pick your night ... Monday or Wednesday I dont mind.

Maybe we can have a bottle of Scotch on who can get the most sign-ups.

Lets just hope they phone me back.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
