Well, after last weeks Kangas game I have to say I feel pretty good about the direction the Demon are headed.

The backline has already been rebuilt in 12 months by Bailey and co, and soon the midfield and forward line will follow (although the forward line is still a while away)

Now, as for last weeks prediction - I was let down big time by some poor selections by the MFC selectors, who left out Colin Sylvia. He is the best contested mark at the club, and that is the main area we lacked in last week. Nobody capable of taking a mark up forward.

No such trouble this week, as Sylvia will be back and Maric should join him to add some much need skill to the side.

So without further ado, here is what will happen this Saturday as the Demons destroy the pathetic ferals by 62 points.

Melbourne 27.14 176

Collingwood 17.10 112

Goals - Sylvia 7, Maric 3, Pettard 3, Morton 3, Miller 2, Jones 2, Buckley 2, Jetta 2, McLean, Green, Johnson

Best - Sylvia, Morton, Garland, Maric, McLean, Green, Warnock, Jetta, Buckley, Spencer, Rivers

I expect Sylvias 7th goal to come from a hanger on the goal line, where he will then turn and kick the ball as hard and low as possible through goal, where it will meet up with Joffas head, rendering him slightly more brain dead than he already is.

Enjoy this Saturday, cos there is nothing like smashing these fools and listening to their President, coach and supporters cry about the umpires after the game.

I like th post and I have no problem with wide eyed optimism, as far as I'm concerned I want the players thinking this way. I do however think that the mentioned scoreline lends itself to a 64 point win, and that perhaps Y_M sold himself short with the final score analysis.

Can't say I'm convinced, but u gotta love YM's enthusiasm.

FWIW, if we do win (and thats a big IF), it'll probably look more like this:

Mel: 2.3, 6.5, 10.6, 15.11 (101)

Col: 3.1, 6.4, 7.8, 13.12 (90)

Goals: Bate 3, Morton 2, Petterd 2, Johnson 2, Miller, Jetta, Moloney, Davey, Green, Buckley 1.

Best: McLean, Rivers, Moloney, Green, Johnson, Cheney, Bate

Fingers crossed!

Love your work Y.M. i expect to win every week as the players should.

I hope a heaps of demon supporters turn up this saturday as even an "away" game at the 'G means we get a slice.

Go Demons..victory by 15 points (Aaron Davey to star on the Members Flank)

Jake Spencer to give that "pillow" Josh Fraser a total BATH!!!!

If we win, it'll be because we hold them to less than 12 goals

This is true. Always fun to tune in to the radio and listen to Malthouse's newest excuse after a loss.

thats so much bullcr@p. As if you expect us to win every week. If thats the case then you would expect us to win the flag..because if you expect us to win every game, then that would mean you would expect us to finish on top of the ladder and go on to win the GF. Take your hand off it

Awesome work Yze_Magic. The "already built" backline will let through 17 goals, and the "still a while away" forward line will kick a mere 27 goals.

Why do you waste your time?

Whilst I love the passion every one has, remember we need a foward line that can kick more than 10 goals!

Here is last years highest scores we kicked by each team. And last year I thought, at the start of the year our forward line looked ok. I just wonder at this point in time who is going to kick a bag?

Brisbane 14 9 93

Surprised you didn't have Martin in your list of goalkickers!

With Petterd, Miller, Sylvia, Martin and Jetta in the forward half we will definately kick more behinds than goals.

I Beg your Pardon?? Of Course i expect to win every week, that doesn't mean it always happens but i expect to win yeah. Just like in the Real world i don't like losing, who does.

With your attitude the 22 players might aswell run out of the rooms put a blanket in the center square and all sit on it with cups of tea until the final siren each week until we pick up all the Early Draft picks,

The Good (Great) clubs expect to win each week, & thats where i want Melbourne to be. If you have a problem with my attitude thats too bad. I pay around $700 a year to watch Melbourne so i am allowed to expect victory. I think more Melbourne supporters should feel the same way.

Maybe that's why People percieve Melbourne supporters to be "Soft" over the years-Because you & others don't expect victory & will accept an "Honourable" loss.I know those losses happen, but i don't accept them because it usually means a crucial mistake was or were made.

How Dare you call my attitude "Bull crap"!! I went through school in the '70's Laughed at because i barracked for the Demons, & i Hated it.

Coming second is the same as coming last.

I expect DB to come up with a strategy to beat Collingwood on Saturday. If he does Fantastic, if not more tweaking is Needed.

I Roll up to the Footy Expecting to win because i hope thats what the Football club is thinking

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
