These guys are way off the mark. And should be shot for even suggesting such a thing!

Connolly to Coach Melbourne - Prediction 1

Melbourne should extend Baileys contract by another 2 years by mid-year I would think! Even if we are down the bottom. He needs time with this squad and I could'nt imagine the Dee's doing anything different.

Terry Wallace looks like he might be out the door! Sheedy to coach since he thinks the Tiges can go all the way ... I very much doubt it Sheeds! Stick to SuperCoach!

With a winning track record at Fremantle of 51.9% Connolly could be a good fit for Melbourne

What, we're bad so he'd suit us?

On a serious note, I'd be very unhappy if this were to occur.

I don't think it will, so I'm not going to worry :P

I'm pretty sure bails has two years left on his contract. I reckon he's doing a good job. Obviously we were rubbish last year, but he comes from Port with the reputation of being a good developer of players. I could definitely see improvement in individual players last year. Hopefully that continues this year. I'd reckon we'd have to lose every game for him to get sacked.

 Well, he did sign a 3 year contract. And...last year was his first year as coach, so I'm pretty sure you're on the ball there.

if it was posted after last nights game I would have blamed a tiger supporter diverting attention. Baily is totally safe. Remember what they said about clarkson and then his draft picks came through and won a flag.

P.S Tiger Membership cards now come with a dotted line and kiddy scissors so they dont cut their wrists!

I also think DB is doing a good job.The first thing he did was restructure our backline (dumped Carroll who would be still playing under Daniher).I like our back 8-9 but have queries on Martin & Frawley, hope they prove me wrong.

With Brock,Moloney,Grimes out injured, there wasn't much he could do with the midfield and it was too big a load for Junior and Jones to carry.

With Neitz and Robbo out injured and Miller warm and cold and Davey playing up the ground, there wasn't much he could do with the forward line.

When we last had a full list in 2006,we were the best Victorian team, then the worst 2 injury hit years in our clubs long history sent us to the wooden spoon and the rebuild began.

No coach can be judged through that period but he's on the right track. With a full list, things can turn very quickly because there are only 6 very good teams each year and the other 10 are very ordinary.

Hawks went from bottom to top in 4 years and Richmond went from 15 to 9th last year, because the bottom 8 teams are very ordinary.

I expect the Dees to be somewhere from 6-10 in 2010.From there we will try and consolidate a top 4 spot for 3-4 years and if all the planets line up,have a crack at the big one in our 3-4 year window.

Having the second youngest list gives us time but we have to rise up the ladder with a strong list and many teams over the years have risen from the bottom, only to hang around 8-10 for years because the went too early and tried to rise with a list that was average at best.

The perfect example is Hawthorn and Richmond.4 years ago Richmond tried to rise too early and in Terry Wallace's first year, they won 10 games(Hawks won 5) ,second year they won 11 games,(Hawks won 9)third year they won 3 games (Hawks won 13) and last year they won 11(Hawks won 17 and the Flag)

The reason for this is Hawthorn bottomed out an extra year while Richmond went too early with an average list that didn't make the 8 in any of the 4 years.

Now with Richo,Bowden,Cousins 32+ and Simmonds and Brown getting on,they will need to rebuild again in a couple of years and players like Cotchin,Vickery and Foley will be languishing in an ordinary team.

We have one of the top 3 under 22 lists in the AFL and all we need is time and development.

Our window is 2011-14 ;) By that time Geelong,Bulldogs,Saints will all be washed up

2009-10 will put another 40 games into our young list.

Well done Jack7, a very good sumation IMO. We still need this season to add more topline kids, then we should be right to start to haul ass back up the ladder.

If the punters can hang in there for one more we'll be 'on the way', we just need to address our talls, forward & ruck, plus a couple more additions to the on ball brigade as no doubt there will be some who can't cut it at the top level.

We simply won't be able to climb much this season due to so little age maturity & physical maturity, plus lacking games experience. we must play the kids as much this year as humanly possible.

At the moment DB is coaching for the long term future of the MFC not himself.

Yes,you're right dee-luded,we're not going to make the 8 this year so we must get as many games into our kids as possible and for this reason i have reservations about Robbo this year.He won't be around when we're contesting a top 4 position so i'd rather put 40-60 games into someone who will be there when we're top 4.It doesn't matter if Robbo kicks 20,40 or 60 goals this year,it won't count for anything in 2011-14 when we're top 4-6.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
