DEMONLAND/DEMONOLOGY v SAINTSATIONAL

No one has ever suggested it to me and therefore my ire was never raised. I would have no problem with an official coach of the football club taking over, in fact I would be delighted. There is very little glory in coaching friendlies. The bragging rights belong to the players.

I would be happy for anyone to take over and will content myself with the knowledge of three games coached for three wins. It would be a good note to retire on.

PS. Where do I pick up my superannuation?

You're not getting out of it that easily Redleg.

I'm by no means ready for the transition, and I expect that as long as I'm out there playing, you'll be on the side lines trying to drag me... it's the only thing that keeps me running.

sorry...

it was me that mentioned the idea of retirement ( although I did not mention the "R" word)...

I was thinking 2035 or, maybe 2036...

or redleg's death ( whichever happens earlier)...

there is a symbiosis between wise and redleg that we should hope will continue forever... ;)

I think maybe...

but maybe not...

Hi guys.

Just wondering who demonsam is?

He came onto our forum and fired a ridiculous broad side at us.... completely uncalled for and incredibly immature, this "you suck, where better then you" crap belongs in the school yard doesn't it?

I know he was referring to a couple of the concerns I raised in regards to some conduct, but these questions always come up, and I was merely raising concerns that were brought to me by a couple of my players, something I feel obligated to do.

Now you guys are professional and played the game well, in terms of spot fires there were no more then usual when competitive juices start to flow.... we were missing some talent and as a result got smashed...Yes your probably a touch more serious then us, but we aren't about to run off crying and never play again.

We have been playing forum games for years and will keep doing so and hopefully one day we will beat you again...

but the below post was completely uncalled for...

demonsam wrote:

i have never come across or heard such a bigger bunch of whingers after the game result on the weekend.

you guys should just accept defeat, never in the contest actually. totally outclassed just accept defeat and reality your never going to see the trophy again. we are the better side and it never will change.

why would we waste our time having a rematch unless we want another walk in the park, you guys are so pathetic and never seem to amaze me with your bitching. just like your afl team in 2009 your set for some long months ahead and no results unlike us demons who will challenge for the 8.

until next time we meet

I assume this poster is 12? maybe 13 years old tops....can't structure sentences, talks like a child...

As I mentioned, our forums get along just fine rollo for one is a top bloke as are all the others I have met, however sad to see rubbish like that posted.

Awfully juvenile, and absolutely uncalled for. I think there is a healthy respect between both sites, and the above mentioned posts in no way reflect the sentiment towards you here on Demonland.

I'd be very surprised if it were somebody who played, but if we find out who demonsam is, I'd have no hesitation banning him from this site indefinitely.

Harv's if you can track down the offending posters email address, PM it to me and we'll get the match from our end.

In the mean time please extend out apologies to your faithful.

Hi guys.

Dear Harveys Disciples,

Firstly, thanks for the game on Sunday. Unfortunately, you didn't have your strongest side on the ground and it wasn't a great contest after quarter time.

Secondly, the comments made by demonsam are against the spirit of sportsmanship which was displayed by most of the players on the ground this time and on the previous occasions when we've played forum games. It's regrettable that they were made and I trust that the person was not a member of our team.

Thirdly, it's been brought to my attention since the game that one of our ruckmen might have caused some injury to your ruckman through clashing with him in ruck contests with his sharp stops. These sorts of things were not condoned by the coaching panel and hopefully, next time will be brought to our attention and that of the umpire during the game so they can be dealt with appropriately.

We all do our best in these games to highlight sportsmanship and the enjoyment of the game and you have our assurance that this will continue to be our objective every time we meet on the field.

Yeah im sure the ruck injury was un-intentional...bumps and bruises are par for the course in the ruck I imagine (not that I have ever played in the ruck). But just thought I would bring it up on behalf of the bloke who raised it. No bad blood or ill feeling at our end accross the board.

Just don't want blokes on either side posting like demonsam did, as it will put blokes off on both sides.

Cheers gents, and see you all next time.

HarveysDeciple,

I believe i may be the ruckman in question here regarding the sharp stops. However, I've just had a look at my boots and can assure u they are definitely no sharper than any other set of regular long stopped boots. No metal studs here, just plastic, and not torn up or sharp edged.

Sorry to the Saint's rucks for causing any injury, but i'd just like to put my hand up and clear my name of any wrongdoing.

In re: to demonsam... Shame, shame, shame.

I concur.

I thought the game was played in good spirit and obviously our team was a bit stronger and that was reflected in the result.

Previously the Saints have given us players when were short and we did the same this time to help the saints out. This wouldn't be done in a win at all costs contest.

The coaching panel take a lighthearted view of these games and one of the main aims is to give everyone a fair run irrespective of ability. We even played a girl in the last quarter of the game against Carlton when the scores were level at three quarter time. We actually had a couple of pretty strong guys pull out of bumps on sunday because they thought they would hurt the opposition. I thought that was commendable.

It is disappointing to see stupid posts as everyone enjoys these games and I hope they continue in a good spirit for many years to come.

RE metal studs. In my days as a rugby player and AFL umpire I have come across both metal and plastic studs alot. In my experience, rugby players frown on plastic stops, which is very interesting considering you are more likely to be stepped on or rucked in rugby than in footy.

I actually think the plastic stops are more likely to cause injury as they tend to 'burr' when players run along concrete etc getting sharp edges which slice other players if they step or slide across them. With metal stops, the stops stay blunt at all times, i have never seen metal stops get sharp, as they are rounded off and smoothed.

I also cant understand why people would think that you would get worse bruises from metal stops than plastic stops. If someone steps on you with either you will get bruises.

FWIW I wore moulded sole touch footy boots on Sunday not my metal stopped rugby boots, mostly because I didn't want to scare anyone with my stops!

I nearly jump on the saints site to set a few thing straight ie metal stops, us hitting guys, bad umpiring etc, but couldn't even be bothered logging on as there is really no need for it especially what demonman said. These games are social.... there was a couple of saints players that let there team down with whinging and not being prepared to do there part (thats why they had 9 in the fwd line) but hey you get out of it what you want....

I definately wouldn't be saying we'll see you next time as these games all depends on who turns up.....

I've never worn metal stud boots before as i've never played rugby, and the rules in every aussie-rules league i've ever played in have always prohibited the wearing of metal stud boots. That would probably be why people would get the impression that metal studs may cause more damage.

But point taken though, i have recieved more than my fair share of cuts and bruises from 'burred' plastic studs in the past.

Couple of guys wearing richmond tops were having a kick in the park and joined up after half time... weren't bad players...

You can let the side down in a social game if you crack the sh4t and don't bother playing meant they only had about 15 on the ground actually wanting to play

Pictorial evidence of the game will be posted as soon as we can work out the technology. Thanks to Eddie McGuire for providing the ground. It was the least you Collingw&%$ people could do given that we at Melbourne allow your mob to play their home games at our ground – the MELBOURNE Cricket Ground.

Photos were very good and I wouldn't worry about Eddie - his sponsors have been given great exposure.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
