Who will we get with our later picks?

we all know watts will be chosen as number 1, and we all know the names being floated around for our pick 17 and pick 19. but who will we get with pick 35, 51, 64 and 76?

I'm going to review this thread and see who was the closest to the money. And whoever that is I will give them life long respect :D

Has to be in order.

Here is mine:

pick 35: Jarrad Redden - SA ruckmen. We all know we need one. He is agile and is another midfielder in the centre after the tap out such are his 2nd and 3rd efforts.

pick 51: Tom Allwright - a midfielder that has good skills and is a good bartel-like overhead mark. He may be gone a little bit before us..but not earlier than the 3rd round.

pick 64: Liam Jones- a 194cm key forward with plenty of zip and marking ability. missed plenty of football through injury.

pick 76: N. F. I

For a start Freak, I think we have pick 67 not 64, the next would be 83.

yeh im surprised as well but the list of draft picks outlined recently on the afl website states otherwise. I think its because some clubs will not be using their later draft picks because they already will have a full list

Jesus Freak... I'm still wrapping my head around the ones taken at 17 and 19... Where do you find the time?

35: Dayne Beams, midfielder from Southport.

He is a hard at it midfielder with good skills, has a bit of attitude (the good kind). Was originally touted as a late pick but is becoming more and more likely to go top 40.

51: Jarred Redden, ruckman from SA.

He is a good prospect, definately a national draft pick instead of rookie/pre drafts. He could slide a bit further than people are thinking and we would have to take him at 51. A good young talent who could become a best 22 ruckman.

67: Stephen Motlop, forward/mid from NT.

Young Motlop could either go alot earlier or alot later, hard to tell, regardless I think he would be a good pick up. He has good skills and fantastic speed.

Naturally his name has got alot of attention and he has the tools to be a good player.

there are two boys i think we should look at as either very late picks or rookies

1) Patrick Heenan--indigenous boy from NT...extremely agile, extremely--seen some good footage, i wil try to find where it is (can play forward or back)

2) Roland Ah Chee--another indegenous boy but is a midfielder and is very very consistent. nice speed. good kick

so i put these two forward as possible late picks

would be wrapt if we got either of them

51 - Tom Hislop

67 - Greg Bentley

Your name isn't Dennis Pagan, is it ?

How about we develop our own.

Would happily take 1 of Hislop or Bentley as a late pick. Both would slot nicely into our 22 - particularly Bentley.

I have heard whispers that Dayne Beams will be collingwoods FIRST pick!

So 35 might be a stretch!

Posted

I hope your right! It would mean that someone else would slide to our next two picks!

Any news on Liam Shiels? (spelling maybe, sorry)

There was a whole thread on him about a month ago saying how we were the only club had registered interest in him.

maybe use our 4th rounder on him?

Would love it if we picked up a ruckman with our 3rd round. I would love for Roughead to slide that far.

was having a beer with dayne beams cousin last night and he said collingwood are very very intrested in him

Every year there are 1 or 2 players who slip out of the first round and are taken early in the second. E.g. last year many had Alex Rance going around the #8 mark for one reason or another he slipped to 17.

What players this year will slip?

I reckon McKernan and maybe Sidebottom.

i just hope we use our first 2 picks on KPP (Watts and i hope Shoenmakers)

and then get what is the best available with our next picks!!!

A SMOKEY LATE:

Charlie Sharples

DOB: 16/2/89

State league: SA

Club: Sturt

He played for SA against the VFL this year and acquitted himself quite well, but he wasn't at Draft Camp because he was playing in the reserves when they had finals on.

Charlie is not too dissimilar to Cameron Stokes and they played together for the Northern Territory. He's a really smooth mover is extremely hard at it.

Charlie's a little bit leaner and taller than Stokes and with the success that the Hawks had with him this year, and the same with Melbourne and Austin Wonaeamirri, you'd have to think someone would have a crack at Charlie late or as a rookie.

Mckernan at pick 17 or 19 would be outstanding.

Steele Sidebottom has been touted a top 10 pick.

So has Mckernan.

And so was Rance last season there is always a slider.

ID actually suggest he is a big chance to slide, he had one incredible game, deserves to be top 15 but all of the names below have legitimate cases to be a better prospect...

Watts

Naita

Rich

Hartlett

Ziebell

Vickey

Yarran

Trengove

Why would Bentley 'slot nicely into our 22?

Have you seen him play before?

The guy reeks of skill, a ball magnet, and can kick a goal. Good replacement for Chris Johnson on the half back line.

I'm shocked he was delisted from Port. Carlton have obviously seen the talent on display as they've invited him down for a pre season.

Would rather pick him up with our final draft pick then an Isaac Weetra/Heath Neville speculative punt in the 60's who most likely will never play a game for the club.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
