I find the exercise amusing and basically futile

viewing most peoples best 22 includes quite a few players that are not AFL standard

get ready for 2 more years in the bottom 4

At the expense of.. ?

Maybe as a replacement for Whelan if (when) he gets injured...

Could name 5 or 6

Posted

B: Whelan Warncock Garland

HB: Wheatley Rivers Buckley

C: Morton McLean Green

HF: Davey Miller Bate

F: Aussie *Robbo Sylvia

FOLL: Jamar Bruce Jones

INT: *Dunn Moloney PJ McDonald

EMER: Petterd Martin Bell

NOTES:

- Dunn is in the 22 by virtue of the fact that we need a 'run with' player and Bartram is not AFL standard IMO.

- Newton to start at full foward in round 1 with the absence of Robbo.

- Haven't got Martin in the 22 as I haven't seen him live

- Expect the kids such as Grimes,Maric, and 1 or 2 kids from this years draft to play at least 11 games.

The problem isn't the bottom end - we played finals with NQR.

It's the top end - no stars.

Same as it ever was.

I'll have a go. Good distraction from my exam in 3 hours time...

B: Whelan Warnock Rivers

HB: Garland Martin Petterd

C: Green Moloney Morton

HF: Robertson Miller Davey

FF: Sylvia Johnson Bate

R: Jamar McLean McDonald

I: Bruce Maric Buckley Wonaeamirri

Intentionally no Jones or Wheatley.

Good luck with your exam Titan i also have one today.

B Whelan Martin Garland

Loose Man: Rivers

HB: Petterd Warnock Green

C: Morton Mclean Buckley

HF: Davey Miller Bate

F: Sylvia Robertson

R: Jamar Jones Mcdonald

Int: Dunn Bruce Moloney PJ

Line Ball/unlucky: wheatley, maric, wonna, belly

Rivers to intercept the ball coming into defence, dish it green/petterd then push forward hard. He has the game smarts to know when to hang back and when to push forward.

Obviously Watts is to raw to play KPF next year, but what are peoples thoughts on him playing on the wing, endurance might be a problem but he can certainly move like a midfielder.

i honestly dont think watts will play at all next year (barring 1 or 2 games to get a feel of things)

Nice try. Lets see your 22 Swampfox, many others have put their names to their best 22 at present. Deflecting or dismissing the exercise as amusing and futile is simply comical on your behalf.

F : PJ - Robertson - Davey

I/C : McDonald - Grimes - Maric - Dunn

but I'm really unsure. Just far too many question marks over far too many players.

Bring on Round 1

If our forward line is as impotent as it was this year, then I reckon he'll be thrown to the wolves by about round 8 - year 12 or no year 12.

given the shape of our forward line I think Jack Watts will play a lot more football than everyone expects next year if we draft him... Bailey showed this year he wasn't afraid to give the kids a go, i don't think it will be any different next year either... i imagine he'll play at least half the games, therefore I've included him in this, and our best 22...

it was a toss up between Grimes, Buckley and Petterd for that half back flank position, and I decided to go with grimes...

B: Whelan, Martin, Garland

HB: Grimes, Rivers, Green

C: Morton, McLean, Bruce

HF: Davey, Miller, Bate

F: Wonaeamirri, Watts, Robertson

R: Jamar, Jones, Dunn

I: Sylvia, Johnson, Wheatley, McDonald

E: Buckley, Warnock, Moloney

haha the one you have seen the absolute least of..?

I had trouble finding room for Petterd for that very reason, & Buckley won by having played the most games recently.

Well that's not exactly the greatest method either

Mark Jamar has played heaps of games as had Brad Miller pre-08 and so did A.Yze in his later years

i hope you're right but i dont see it happening

hawthorn took xavier ellis at pick 3, he didnt play one game in his first year at hawthorn and was in the exact same position as watts

Yeah, fair enough. I picked Grimes on the bench too.

But my point was, how can we even judge him as being in our best when he has played 1 senior game?

And then Petterd barely played last season & when he did he was underwhelming.

I dunno. I guess i'm just poking fun at how pointless this exercise really is.

The only thing you really get from it is gauging how other supporters see certain players.

Good try at it.

But I share your concern about the question marks. Lots of C graders (too many) not enough A graders. IMO only a couple look likely. Oh for a good draft.

and good DEVELOPMENT.

So many players need to take not just the next step, but a few steps.

But the only way is up... or we could move laterally...

Bell, Bartram, Dunn all struggling to find a place IMO. I think Bell can get back into it though.

Still just can't see where Sylvia fits. Without Robertson I'd play him out of FF/CHF, telling him to motor through half forward and into the packs. But just still struggle to find a spot.

Aussie provides a spark, but I don't see him as best 22 going forward, yet anyway. Maric I think will step up, and I can't wait to see more of Grimes

I don't see enough in Maric yet to guarantee him a game as a lot of other people have. I don't think much of Bell or Bartram, hence they are not in the team. I think we have to give Newton a few games to see what he's capable of(might not be much but he cant get much worse than last year!). Green and Bruce could swap. I liked what i saw of Petterd a few years back so i have included him in the side. Unlucky are J mac, Wheats, Martin, Bate (Haven't seen enough good to get automatic inclusion).
