  1. Bate came fourth in our best and fairest, that means that there are arguably three players on our list closer to being top 50 in the afl then bate, judging by our performance last year and those particular players performance, bate would have to improve quite a bit to be a top 50 player. Assuming he continues playing in the fowardline this improvement would make him our number 1 forward taking the best defender (keeping LJ free) this would give us greater structure going forward and with his performance depending on delivery from the midfield it would also mean that the midfield was performing better. If sylvia is in brownlow contention he would be taking the best tagger and beating the tag. This would inturn free up jones and davey thus increasing there ability to impact on games. As seen in hannibal best 6 thread its the a teams best players that make a team and that can lift a team. Sylvia, Davey and Bate all performing well, will make the players around them perform better also. This wasnt meant to be about what i thought would happen to 2010 but what would have to go right for us to make the 8 for example having an injury free season or jurrah kicking 70 goals.
  2. Most people have us finishing anywhere from 10th to 16th, but what would it take for us to exceed those expectations and finish in the top 8 or even in the 4. For mine in order for us to make the top 8 next year (aside from a huge improvement in the whole list) i think- -Bate to become a top 50 player in the afl -Davey to improve on last years form and earn an all australian guernsey -Sylvia to be in brownlow contention -One of the melb youngsters to go close to winning the rising star What are other peoples thoughts on what has to go right for the dees to exceed expectations?
  3. Being a big lad i think the scope for improvement in his kicking would be more then that of a small midfielder. Once he fills out, gets used to his size, and joins an afl system with professionals teaching him how to kick you would think there would be more then 10-15% improvement in him. I know myself that i went from a shocking kick an an uncoordinated 15-17 yr old, to a very good kick now as a 19 yr old once i got used to my body size.
  4. Trade miller + valenti + pk 50 => sydney for pk 38 Allows miller and valenti to continue their AFL careers whilst freeing up some space on the melbourne list. In regards to the port trio of pearce, salopek and boak, i dont think it would happen but i would offer, Jamar and 18 for Boak 18 for Salopek 34 and Jamar for Pearce Jamar to stay, IMO he is just fishing for a better contract. Bruce onto the veterens list Delist Robbo, Wheatley, Whelan retire Hughes, Zomer delist from rookie list Not sure about contract situation but from the main list delist: Bartram- lot of heart but poor skills Bell-traded to port for a late pk which we wont use This gives us pks 1,2,18,34,38,PSD1, 3 rookies, and a promotion to Spencer 1.) Tom Scully- enough has been said. 2.) Morabito- tall game breaking midfielder with pace, good evasion and decent kicking skills (dual sided). Just the type of player we need, real star quality. 18.) Ben Griffiths- tall pack marking forward, has a thumping right foot kick and could be just the big pack-splitting forward we need to compliment Watts in the future. 34.),38.) Take another KPF forward here and midfielder with pace, maybe colyer and aaron black combo here. Of course if there is a slider to any of these picks the best available should be taken. Some more talent from the NT at PSD 1 unless we can convince pearce, salopek or boak to jump into the PSD for some cash. Rookies- get a ruckman, Dylan Grimes and Daw So we get two very good mids who i think will compliment each other nicely, a big KPF to play alongside watts, and then some depth in the ruck and up forward which we need. Another pacey mid, Jacks brother, Daw who has alot of potential, and PSD 1 which going on current form (martin and Jurrah) could be damn good.
  5. People should remember that youtube highlights are exactly that highlights, Daw has tremendous potential but hasn't yet shown enough to be considered at pick 34. IMO he will be takin late in the ND or early rookie.
  6. Sorry to bring this up again, but i think freak is talking about the classic tweener, a player inbetween hieghts that afl clubs are not sure is good enough for the midfield or tall enough to be a KPP. Hence they slide down the draft pecking order or off the map completely.
  7. I know i felt i had to make that comment before people started picking my order apart because player x is better then player y, but i took player y first. What are people thoughts on Mckernan v Schoenmakers Have the feeling the Mckernan will slide big time to around 19-25, both have huge upside but i feel schoenmakers is a safer pick. But at the same time i think Mckernan has better potential but is more likely to be a bust. Would like us to get Blease+Mckernan or Swift+Schoenmakers safer pick+high risk high reward pick.
  8. Couldn't stop at 40, had to do the first three rounds I also tried to pick for teams needs, and thus this isn’t necessarily in order of best to worst. 9. Good luck with your exam Titan i also have one today. B Whelan Martin Garland Loose Man: Rivers HB: Petterd Warnock Green C: Morton Mclean Buckley HF: Davey Miller Bate F: Sylvia Robertson R: Jamar Jones Mcdonald Int: Dunn Bruce Moloney PJ Line Ball/unlucky: wheatley, maric, wonna, belly Rivers to intercept the ball coming into defence, dish it green/petterd then push forward hard. He has the game smarts to know when to hang back and when to push forward. Obviously Watts is to raw to play KPF next year, but what are peoples thoughts on him playing on the wing, endurance might be a problem but he can certainly move like a midfielder.
