unlikely. i think they already picked up their good key position player in ryder. 1 hit 1 miss.

Given what I've seen Lachie Hansen do in 2 years and how he's progressed makes me think that he and Gumbleton with both be exceptionally good players

In many ways we as Melbourne supporters shouldn't really care who we draft out of Rich, Naitanui or Watts. What we need is a STAR player who can win matches off his own boot and get "bums on seats" to games.

From what I've read and from what footage I've seen so far all 3 has been quite impressive. They all have their benefits in their specialized positions, whether it be as a midfielder, a ruckman or a key forward. However, I believe that Jack Watts is the most exciting and has the most potential to become a STAR player in the AFL.

The Melbourne Football Club has never had a Wayne Carey, a Nick Riewoldt or a Lance Franklin. The key forward who is a pure excitment machine who makes other neutral supporters come and watch them in awe. The closest we have had is a David Schwarz before his knee injury at the end of 1994. In many ways Jack Watts has the potential to become a superstar forward for the Melbourne Demons.

Give him either the number 9# or preferably the number 4# guernsey and in a few years time we will be watching Jack Watts soar above packs taking marks and kicking goals in the Red & Blue and we won't be regretting the decision.

Jack Watts for the number 1# pick in the 2008 AFL National Draft!

I have seen Rich play via WAFL Tapes at work. He is a ready made Gun so i would expect the MFC to check him right out. If we draft Dan Rich i would not be upset at all although because he is a victorian and rated i expect Watts to be picked up. But Fear not Dan Rich is Ready for Next years Mid Field Round 1

has watts got the running back with the flight courage of riewoldt? No

does he have the aggression at the man of fevola? no

does he have the body-strength of jono brown? no (and chances are he never will)

is he as quick as franklin? yes he is, but does not have franklins tackling ability, or his aggression, or the self-confidence.

Give him a chance mate he may not have the courage or reiwoldt or aggression of Fevola now; but I highly doubt either of those two players had those qualities to the same extent as they do now at the age of 18-19! But yes I agree he'll never be as big as jono brown lol but chances are with those awesome hands, speed and alility he wont have to be. self confindence is also something that will come with time!

Demons Split on Top Draft Trio

I find it interesting they are travelling to Perth this week to meet the families of both, i know this may be a formality but i really thought Watts was our pick done and dusted.

I kind of will be disappointed if we dont go Watts...but hey they know more stuff than me on these kids

They are just investigating whether either the Rich or Naitanui families have a spare $2,000,000 they would like to donate to the MFC to ckear the debt.

Honestly, if we don't take Watts, I will e devastated.

Not that you've said we should take him, but that means absolutely zero to us because we'll still be sitting on the bottom. We don't need an immediate impact, we need the one who'll be the best player over a long period of time.

Actually Jack is very very self confident on the football field.

He showed that this season, most 17 year olds from 50-60 would not immediately decide to go goal, they would pass or consider other options. When Watts is in range, thats it, it's just him and the goals out there. My favourite Watts attribute actually.

Cant wait to see the reaction of Haydo when we draft Naitanui.

If that happens if people think I'm a Bailey basher now they haven't seen nothing yet. We must go for key forwards we have no Neitz, Robbo has about 1 year left, Miller is a battler, Bate and Dunn can't play Key and who knows how Newton will end up? We must go for Watts and another key forward in the top 20. Ruckman do nothing in the game these days anyway. Sandilands proves that winning hit outs means nothing if you don't have a midfield that can get the ball personally I would prefer us to ruck with P.J and when he needs a short rest we should play Miller in the ruck which will allow us an extra midfielder on the bench. We need midfielders too but if the likes of McLean, Sylvia, Jones, Morton, Moloney and Davey can step up we could have a reasonable midfield but I can't see anyone stepping up in the forward line maybe Bate but he's more of a roaming forward not a key forward.

That never changed

He was a damn good one though.

And he went when it was his turn.

imo his kicking was slightly overrated though. No left foot and had trouble kicking goals. Just got heaps of penetration over 50-60 metres

Congratulations - you've just made it into one of my lists. One is titled 'Footy Cred' and the other 'Footy Stupid'.

I'll let you guess which one.

I never cease to be amazed at how many people have their Collingwood blinkers on when assessing Buckley as a player.

Absolutely. In many cases they froth at the mouth at ordinary MFC players that can barely scratch a game in one of the most deserving bottom sides in years.

N Buckley was an elite footballer/star for a decade or more and if he had an MFC guernsey we would be holding him in the same ranking as Flower.

True.

However look at the bright side, at least it lets you know who has no idea about the game.

Who says we ONLY spoke to Rich & Naitanui. Any body considered that the trip might be aimed at picks 17 or 19!!!!!!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
