I love it how everyone's so quick to bag a suggestion like this one but forget to realise how crap our list is.

We're a rubbish footy club, so I think it's a bit rich for everyone to start bagging players from other clubs.

So your saying a crap player would look good on our rubbish list?

He wouldn't necessarily look good, but then again he wouldn't look as crap.

We should definitely pick him up then!

Melbourne made a play for him a few years back IIRC. Would have been circa 2003/2004 ?

Houlihan is actually not a crap player. He's not a hard player, but he's not crap.

He is a fringe ordinary player regardless of whether he is hard or soft.

I am not sure why when we have a surplus of C grade and D grade footballers on our list why the hell we would add another one.

We should be trying to improve our list and I dont see what Houlihan gives us.

At the moment his supporters have rated him an outside receiver who is a good kick with questionable physical skills. At best he is an extremely poor man's Yze (in his latter years) and we need that sort of player like a salary cap breach.

And regardless of how bad MFC's list is, there are actually crap players at other Clubs. I dont see why they should be recognised as otherwise.

If MFC are to be successful in the future then many our current list and many of the definite NQRs being put forward are not part of that future. Houlihan definitely isn't.

My thoughts exactly. Why on earth would we downgrade to Houlihan when we let Yze go?

Exactly. When we bring anyone to the club over the next few years, we have to be sure they will improve the list in some way. Therefore, we don't take Houlihan, or any other delisted fringe player, just because they've been delisted and are in the PSD.

Good for you Biff. If you're going to have a crack, nominate and we'll sure as hell get you accross the line at pick #1. ;)

PS. Start training and remember - 'being competitive in a competitive environment' is your key to success.

Thanks for the encouragement HT. Back when I played, when the footy was up the other end it wasn't totally unacceptable to be leaning on the goalpost dragging on a cigarette you'd botted from a mate over the fence. Might struggle in your competitive environment !

And Rhino summed it up - the fact that we are crap doesn't preclude other clubs having crap players as well. RH falls into that category.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
