Things have been slow the last few days during camp, but there are a few consistent rumours..

Mark Seaby appears almost a certain demon unless Warnock can somehow slip through. There is word that the demons will trade with fremantle pick 1 for 3, allowing Warnock to slip through to the PSD, but this appears dead in the water today.

Thus, the Demons are in the box seat to attain the services of Seaby, with the likely deal being pick 35 being dealt by the demons, probably in a 3 or 4 team deal..

The other mooted option is a trade of pick 1 for 2, with the eagles adding in a late pick, and the proviso that the Eagles take Naitanui with the no.1 pick, leaving Watts for the dees.

In other news:

Melbourne are shopping a number of players including: Daniel Bell, Chris Johnson, Mark Jamar, Paul Wheatley, and the ever irrepressable Nathan Carroll amongst others for trade in order to improve their order in the upcoming National draft..

The latest specific offer that is around is Bell to the crows along with 51 for pick in return for pick 28.

The demons have also approached a few clubs in regards to the availibilty of a few players including Beau Dowler, Mitch Thorp,Brent Reilly, Mitch Clarke & Mitch Morton.

Hawthorn have again expressed interest in Jared Rivers, with the dees reluctant to even consider offers, unless Mitch Thorp or Dowler is attached to any offer.

The saints are believed to of cooled on thoughts of trading David Armitage at this stage.

Brent Prismall still remains a big possibility, however ther have been no developments.

Where do you get all this info. Nudge?

Sounds silly we would trade pick 1 for pick 2. The only reason West Coast would be in that is too steal Watt's from us. That just does'nt work Nudge? I like the players we are approaching if that is the case.

What does 3 or 4 team deal mean? Surely not a trade involving 3 or 4 teams and multiple trades?

I don't see why W.C. would want pick one for pick two and Seaby, when we're almost guaranteed of getting Watts anyway.

And i also can't imagine that Mitch Morton signed a one year deal at Richmond, so wouldn't he still be under contract?

Shopping Chris Johnson, that's a bit of an odd decision IMO. Was starting to show glimpses and wouldn't fetch much anyway you'd imagine.

3 games over 3 years doesn't speak much for Dowler, trading him for Rivers sounds just like trading one injury prone player for another

Yes, but he can still be traded. I, for one, would love to see him at MFC.

I can't imagine Richmond trading him

You're probably right, but they desperately need a ruckman. So if we traded for Seaby, then we could on-trade him to Tiges for Morton. (Maybe with a few picks exchanged as well.)

:o

Pretty sure they're happy with Simmonds.

Maybe they'll weigh into the Warnock saga. I'm sure they'd rather something like that rather than give up Morton

Target Mitch Clarke!

Miller and 35 to Brisbane? Or Pick 19?

Firstly, it's Mitch Clark. Not Clarke.

And you seem fixated by him.

I live in Brisbane and see a lot of the Lions and their press. They rate Clark as a genuine star in the making. A mediocre deal will not move him.

And Brisbane have never been interested in Miller.

Seaby sucks! If he comes to the MFC that would be a poor move for our list. He cannot dominate at this level, would rather give a list spot to a kid, with the hope that they can one day dominate.

LOL @ Melbourne going after Mark Seaby.

He is one of the absolute worst players in the comp and will bring NOTHING to the club.

Lucky its just a ridiculous rumour.

No, its actually to ensure them Nait..

As if we deal no.3 to freo, eagles miss out on Nait, thus the deal has been rumoured, its unlikely however..

Is it just?

Thats why Connelly has been quoted on it..lol

Seaby is a goal kicking Ruckman, a valuable commodity in footy, he's not gonna win us a falg, but hes certainly of interest at a bargain price, and a big help in filling the void.. your lack of footy nous continues to amaze me..

I also cant see tigers giving up Morton, however, just because we inquire does not mean the tigers want to part with him..

Miller not going to Brisbane, wont happen, they had their chance and dont seem at all interested..

As for Mitch Clark, a number of clubs have shown interest, and the lions are apparently listening to offers, so maybe they just wanna test his value and see wat bobs up, all players are tradeable if the price is right..

Nudge putting out Seaby for pick 35.......................priceless

Your not reading the post properly mate..

Its part of a bigger deal, to which the finer details are atm unclear..

Im not suggesting a straight Seaby for 35, more likely that it includes another player or 2, and picks changing hands, alot of deals wthis year will involve several clubs in order to get them over the line..

If the MFC aren't serious about trading any quality then it will be a pretty lacklustre trade week.

Something needs to be shaken from the trees.

You havent mentioned the status of Matthew Whelan. He never put pen to paper and now it seems we are trying to low ball him. Expect to hear his decision one way or the other by tuesday.

Let's hear some names H. Who would you put up? What are the realistic destinations for these players and what would we get in exchange?

i like the sound of Dowler- he's over his injury, but wouldn't trade rivers for him.

hes got a good size- 193 cm and about 92 kg

brent reilly i'm not so sure about- would love mitch morton but not going to happen. Seaby will be awesome if we get him cos we need a ruckman. good to see we're shoppoing around wheatley, bell, caroll, jamar and CJ to get some more picks hopefully

and prismall! get him!

Posted
Miller, Bell, Jamar, Caroll, Green should be what we put out. keep CJ

Add Davey to that list! He is the one most likely to get us that pick we want. 4, 5, or 6. Jones, Valenti, Aussie and Maric are all similiar size players. I like them all. But would persist with Maric and Valenti over Jones and Aussie. So possibly add a Jones aswell!

Add Davey and Jones!

Hrm, getting worried about the Whelan situ.

Surely he'll sign again, surely we need him. If he joined another club I'd...I'd... oh dear God i don't know. 4 of my 5 melbourne jumpers would need to be burnt.

Given his injury history, which clubs would be attracted by him?

As for trades, if we could swing a deal with the Hawks that involved Rivers and Thorp, I'd go for it.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
