it says he is currently in melbourne with family deciding..would rather him be here deciding than over there.

Ok,

This is not going to win me any allies here, but it needs to be said.

We are talking about offering 1mil over 3 years, for a ruckman who has played 21 games of footy, and has not even dominated in those games.

Just though I would be the voice of reason. Would love to have Robbie play in the red and blue, but come on guys, surely he is not worth that kind of dosh!

well..he is

because we need a ruckman

he is over 200 cm. something we havent had in yonks

and so what if he's only played 21 games- reason he hasnt dominated is cos sandilands plays # 1 and warnock wouldve only strung about 9 games in a row max.

i pray for the day i open up the paper with headline- warnock wants trade to red and blue

Totally agree with you there.

In fact he is 206cm. That is something we haven't had.

Has anyone heard if Carlton are considering using their second round draft pick for Warnock? pick 23 or 24?

What have you heard?

That Carlton as-good-as have Warnock across the line.

Although:

Both White and Warnock are on the market.

Carlton could make a play for Warnock, drive his price up, have us pay over the odds for him, and then take White for next-to-nothing in the pre-season draft.

Why do you think Carlton would have to give us anything of value for White?

They don't have to give us anything for White, they can simply scoop him up in the PSD.

But they can also stuff us around over Warnock.

Question: is Warnock that good that we should get in a bidding war with Carlton and Visy over his signature?

I would have thought whoever gets White will only have to pay next-to-nothing anyway.

I would have thought we'd be a better fit for Warnock than Carlton as they have Kruezer and Hampson developing too. I'd imagine it would be hard to come to a team that had such a disasterous year as us.

Where have you heard this mate? source?

If true well just gives me another reason to hate the blues.

Amazing if true cause the whole reasoning behind his move back home was for him to get more game time as a ruckman.

You are not going to get more game time for too long at carlton...

Agree that Carlton can get White for rock all.

Currently the Blues are presented with two draft options: 1) Kreuzer & Hampson with White as a mentor; and 2) Kreuzer, Hampson & Warnock. Both would be viable arrangements. But with White all-but gone, surely Carlton would go for the latter to get a versatile ruck department with Kreuzer for mobility, Hampson for grunt and Warnock for height.

Don't forget Ratten played with Justin Madden, so he's well aware of the importance of bean-pole ruckmen who can get first hand on the agate.

I would have thought that we might have learned by now that there's no room for sentiment in this professional sport of ours. It's all in the words to this rap song I just wrote:-

Forget the bro',

Forget the game time

Just think of the dough!

Just think of the dough!

Surely though Carlton MUST be over the salary cap!?

I dont understand how this can happen!

this will happen basically because the AFL want Carlton to be strong, they want the crowds Carlton brings in and are slowly trying to eradicate the smaller supported clubs like ours, its Demetriou the scumbag and Fitzpatrick the former Carlton captain who is the boss of the commission. They are trying to kill us, mark my words.

Obviously everyone realizes that Godemons has simply made this story up completely. If it were true he would have provided a source. there is no source.

But Godemons is obviously trying to make a point, and it possibly is a valid one. Warnock's value is being increased through a bidding war between MFC, Blues and Richmond. This all for a guy who's played 16 career games and not dominated in even 1 senior game. Should we really be paying 300k for that?

Is it possible we are getting dooped for a developing ruckman who hasn't made it yet---- Meesan anybody?

If we get Warnock imo it would be a great get. However i would only take him for free in the PSD or with a 3rd round pick (to save the PSD pick for something else.) I would also not like to give him a huge pay packet either.

So you'd like him to play for the team that finished 16th for the love of the game, when his market value is at least $300K? No wonder Juddy passed the Demons up last year.

Living in Perth I would not take anything The West Australian has to say as resembling the truth. They make it up if it's a slow news day and the rest is just rampant advertising of consumer goods no-one needs. (Gee its great to have a rant every so often  )

I hope we do get Robbie W as we do need a tall Ruckman in fact we could probably do with two extra talls especially if the AFL continue with the 4 Boundary umps like they did late in the season. Getting one with experience and a rookie would be the best option but I don't reckon we should trade any of our early picks to achieve this.

I think we all agree we are in a rebuild and to try and rush it by going for the short term glory never works. So we build slowly, draft young players with good foot skills into the positions we need to strengthen the side. Work hard at improving the foot and decision making skills of our current list during the pre-season. Oh and make the central corridor our "Biatch"

To do it right you need to spend the time and when the time comes we can all sit back and savour the wins just like Geelong Fans are doing it now. (Smug Barstools)

Anyway this is after all just my opinon and you know what they say...

Freo2008 So you'd like him to play for the team that finished 16th for the love of the game, when his market value is at least $300K? No wonder Juddy passed the Demons up last year.

Juddy is a business man and made his decision as any businessman would. (more power to him) AFL is big business to sponsors and the like but to the fans its much more emotional. So yes we want him and no we don't want to pay too much for him. If you don't like it who gives a ___t!

I don't know about you but I reckon there are players who do still play football because they love football, getting paid to do something they love is just a fringe benefit.

So we (MFC) like you (FFC), want Robbie because he would make a great asset to our respective teams, if having his brother playing for the red and blue is going to sweeten the deal then why should we not use that especially when you are using money as a sweetner. Having a go at our discussions on how we could get him to MFC on this forum is an exercise in futility. Why? because your a Freo Fan!

Having a dig at our team for finishing last this season is just petty and purile so in return i would like to point out to you that in the west for the last two years the buzz has been that Freo will finish in the top 4 (with short odds too if i recall). WTF OMG talk about dellussional lol Anyway we can sling mud around and get in to a argument over whose is bigger (mine is by the way) but really it achieves nothing.

My main point is Your a Freo Fan who really gives a flying toss what you think about this issue! You have your opinion (which is wrong by the way) and We have our's (which is right because your in Demonland)

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
