I got my response yesterday afternoon (so about 24 hours, no complaints there), but not from Martin Cox, but from a receptionist...

Anyway, the response was:

"Thank you for your feedback, and continued support of the Melbourne Football Club. As you may be aware, the AFL criteria is extremely specific with regard to clash guernseys.

We are required by the AFL to have a lighter colour as determined by them, in order to avoid any clashes. Based on the results gained from the the recent guernsey choice poll, we are attempting to negotiate and produce a guernsey that pleases a majority of members and supporters.

We will be keeping members and supporters up to date and involved in the process as it continues, and as our negotiations with the AFL continue."

Completely ignored my question as to whether white was the club's preferred colour, which kinda angers me, but I can understand them not having enough time to respond to all the emails.

I had thought that there was a good chance of getting a red jumper, but now I'm not so sure.

The GC17 team will have a predominantly red home jumper, so we can't have a red clash jumper. That's the conclusion I arrived at independently, don't know if it's true or not but it's Vlad's bastard child versus the club he doesn't give a s**t about.

Keep in mind... a clash jumper..is for a clash.. we have this little jumper.. may have seen. Is mainly BLUE.. I would envisage we will wear that one against the nothings. The GC ..admittedly only from the mascot.. seems more predominantly yellow.

if the scenario was as below...we wont be wearing a red clash jumper.. No need. Well I wouldnt think.

admittedly..pure guesswork as to their jumper.. but you can see the point.

Huge, if true. What's the credibility factor in your opinion 45?

Best thing that's happened to this club this year if true. Oh please let it be true. Please.

I've been dying all day.

But yes, i suppose with anything like this, don't take it as gospel. Mum went to a lunch at the G today with lots of other Dees fans, i was going to go but have been far too sick. Connolly spoke (was a riot apparently) and Jimmy spoke. They asked whether the fans wanted red as a prelude apparently and the whole room went crazy, and apparently Jimmy then said that the club would use a red base and that they were now deciding on the blue logo to use.

Now I'm not one for "breaking stories," the only thing i've ever broken is a glass window, but this is from the horse's mouth at a public gathering so i'm crossing my fingers.

Mind you, she is prone to misunderstanding some things, so i suppose just take this as a definite sign that the club is working hard for a red jumper, and may well just have gotten there.

Keep emailing! We may just seal the deal

I hope that my (and Bub's) remake of Demon4Life's design has helped in a (very) small way.

I reckon it has mate. The fact it looks fkn amazing probably helps haha

I'm nervous thinking about it, this is just what I was hoping the club would do. If it's true!!

Nice. What was the lunch?

Unsure, I thought she was trying to have a crafty catch up. I hadn't heard anything about it, apparently a lunch at the G.

Well thank goodness for small (or large) mercies  !!!

Feel better soon 45, and thanks for the report.

Thanks bud. Did you hear apparently it's because of the pilgrims? Ha, what a crock!

Pretty sure half of Melbourne is sick, hope it hasn't hit as bad in Sydney!

Well on the poll, it suggests that 77 people want the MFC, while 29 want the Demon as the logo

I wonder if the club will decide this too, or whether Jim will stick with his beloved Demon

The Demon ..and a Clash Jumper..are two separate issues.

Jimmy quite rightly wants the association of the club with its mascot/monicker ( whatever) reinstated..i.e Send MelbounreFC to its rightful place....the BIN !!

Jimmy is also adamant that our colours are Red and Blue. Imust confess I did raise that very thing ( Jimmy's prefrences 0 in correspondence to teh club. Hell all bets are off here..I want rid of the white/silver monstrosities..so I'll employ leverage if only inferred !! lol

So I would suggest people dont amalgamate or confuse these issues.

what about the back of a red jumper having a large white hoop around the bottom half under the number. It will not look great but potentially appease the AFL whislt keeping the red front on the jumper. Some of the desings on here have been fantastic!!!

Fingers crossed on the red jumper!!!

I don't really agree.

If Jimmy wants the Demon back in Melbourne, there's a good chance he'd want it shown on our clash jumper IMO.

Could be anything really.......

As there seems to be a fairly vast range of colours and jumpers that people think we clash with, when the reality is terribly different.

yeah, great work Clint/Bub/Demon4Life. I really hope it comes to fruition. Finally got a reply yesterday from my e-mail the other week. Same reply as what was posted earlier on this thread. A bit of Spin, but happy to get a reply.

Yeah I reckon we're more likely to see the demon on the front, considering Jimmy's push to bring back the demon. But I'd hope he listens to the members and goes for the MFC insignia.

I think we have identified there are virtually no clashes for the MFC the issue is the AFL. Every piece of corro from the club to members who have sent ideas for a red clash jumper the responses posted on here have been the same... the AFL require a predominately white jumper. The only issue I have seen so far is the back of the jumpers looking similar...
