It seemed that earlier reports of tight wadness from players only raising $10K over at ology have been put to sleep by none other than Brocky boy. At least we know his heart beats true!

Enjoy......

Brocky chips in $10,000 of his own DOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brock has also made himself available, along with Isaac Weetra for the Ballarat Demons Debt Demolition Function on Wednesday 20 August 2008 - AN EVENING WITH ROBERT FLOWER.

His contribution and commitment to the club is very impressive (not just in the form of the donation) and I'm sure all Collingwood people hope that their own can make as impressive a comeback from their off field indiscretions as Brock has done this year.

Congratulations.

One of the best storys of the year.

Ive recently commented that Brock should be captain next year and this just reinforces my view.

He has just set himself out from the pack, as a leader does. Willing to bleed for the club on and off the field.

Its a easy choice now surley

Once again, Mark Stevens shows that he is about the only journalist in Melbourne writing positive stories about our club.

Well done Brock. And thank you Mark.

You're very right JL - Mark Stevens is very good about writing positive stories about the club. I've been noticing it for a while now actually.

Its indeed commendable. Good on him. At the same time without wanting to denigrate the action ..10 g out of a whopping pay packet isnt going to hurt a lot. I would like to think many other players also felt so inclined to help the hand that feeds them.

Gee some people can not be pleased, This was on top of what all the players chipped in, and he did not have to do that, i am think full for him as much as any one who puts in what ever they can afford or feel like they want to, way to have a shitty outlook on the whole situation and to make him out to be a ungrateful [censored], so all the other players that did not donate any more what do you think of them?

Most pathetic post I have ever read, you come across as a very ungrateful [censored], how much % of your years wage did you donate? I hope a lot so you can take the high morale ground.

Thanks for not denigrating it.

oh..please...spare my sensivities...grow up will you ffs !!Here we have people on 300/400 plus a year. Seriously 10 grand isnt a cough for these. I again..repeat for those unable to read..Its commendable. .If I was earning that money ..and my employer looked a bit shaky..I might add to the coffers also. Comentary doesnt take anything away from his or others gesture..but some perspective can be added surely..or are some peole so blind to realites that everytthing said or commented must be squeeky clean and syruppy..

Seems odd tome that only Brocky is mentioned.

Keep in mind this is also a business.

What I choose to doante ..wheenand where is none of your business..I dont need to come on here and skite like some 6 year old.

Fairly ironic.

So if Brock is on 200k a year he has donated 5% of his wage.

Lets say you're on 50,000 a year, where's your 2,500?

So i take it you frown upon any discussion? Do all all comments need to be congruent ??

Strangely what I said was matter of fact..others got all steamy and emotive. Morethe point..some ought to read what's written..not what they think they are reading.

Again perspective.. Brocks donates money..great. Brock also earns hell of a lot from this club. Is this NOT true also.

Strange that anyone centres on Brock donating ( again good ) but where's the reporting of others doing similar ?

You've garnered a lot from three very simple sentences and then asked me to read what is written? Your intention is clear to me.

Go ahead and be provocative but the clear indication to me is that you want the players to do more for the club.

If one of them sticks his head out then by all means fire away. Quite sad really.

Clearly your appreciation skills are wanting.

Tell me what I said that wasnt correct( in fact ) . Tell me where I thought Brocky should do more ?

I simply put a perspective on it and commented I thought it odd that we are only hearing of Brock.

Youre the one putting all the spin on. Again..and pay attention..Its good that Brock has made the effort. Again..in relation to the Millions he has/will earn from the club..then its all relative . Again..The MFC is a business...and..Why are we only hearing about Brocky ?

Now if you can get through that without tripping over.. comment away !!

You're out of line on this one mate. I understand your point that in relation to his salary, he hasn't donated a huge sum. But how many players donate any money to their club? How many SUPPORTERS even donate? How many employees donate to their employer.

My Dad was at the function and he told me about Brock. I was going to post it, and I thought better of it because knowing Brock a little bit, I didn't think he would appreciate it. Brock donated through the player group and individually, and his individual donation was inspirational and set the tone for the night. Incidentally, I think all, but certainly most of, the Board members donated generously, as did past players.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
