BUGGER THE FILTH.

They hogged all the media coverage. Because the Filth unfortunately sell newspapers. Hence Front and Back Page stuff - and in between (can you believe it!)

Our Mfc news was whilst still covered, it was pushed back well into the inside back pages. There is no doubt the Footy Show tonight will have big coverage with regards to the Filth.

But Gazza, buddy, Pal! It's time to push the Demons highlights tonight. Get Hutchy in on it too!

As you stated, this mob are going down the "Plughole!"

The only real thing they will talk about Melbourne will be the salary cap issue that cropped up today.

I'm sure a little mention will be said about the night but nothing major.

salaray cap issue would have to be a furphy.

With Neitz, White, Yze & Holland all off the list at years end and no-one else really up for a big pay rise based on performance the total player payments will come down dramatically next season with little effort.

A few others on decent money are a chance to get the chop too i.e. Carrol and Sylvia.

Plus Brown, Pickett, Ward and Bizzell all pulled the pin last year and they must have been getting paid in the higher bracket.

After this year we should have only 3 players earning at or near $400k, Green, Bruce and Robbo. Next highest paid would be the likes of Davey, McLean & Miller. Surely that would be at least 7.5 % less than a team like Carlton, Hawthorn or St Kilda. Don't even mention Sydney or Brisbane

Why this issue got so much coverage and will get more coverage if it happened to any other team.

1) Collingwood have a lot of supporters.

2) A lot of Collingwood supporters get their "news" from the Herald Sun.

3) When looking at point 2), consider which team sponsors the "upper class" Melbourne Football Club.

4) Those who don't follow Collingwood tend to hate Collingwood and like to read about their suffering.

I hope Junior is in the higher bracket too. I know he's in the twilight of his career and he's just finalised a new one year deal, but he's also won the last two B&Fs.

They've had their CEO and President on The Footy Show.

I had no idea this was a one team town. I really hope this is the beginning of the end of this club. I'm sick of them thinking they own this town. They're victims of their own publicity. I mean, honestly.

What really gets me is that there was already SUBSTANTIAL coverage of it BEFORE it was confirmed they lied.

all we can do for now is beat them and turn up in high numbers when we play them. Patience. Oh & do remind them that the MFC helped Fund Victoria Park when it was first developed so they would have somewhere to play. We shall reclaim what is ours in time.
