Did anyone else hear after the game brent harvey on triple m. He had a good swipe at Dunn, saying basically dunn is selfish and just follows his own opponent and doesnt tackle other players. I have to agree with boomer, dunn just runs around watching a player all day. Fails to actually have an impact at all and then tries to be tough but really just gave away silly free kicks.

Welcome to posting at demonland.

In reality Dunn wouldn't get a game for a good team because of this reason (among others). I'm hopeful that he'll develop his game however I'm not going to be all that bothered if he doesn't because I wrote him off a couple of seasons ago.

If he makes it it's a bonus, pity we wasted a round 1 pick though.

Dunn= Gun.

194cm run with player is an asset. Boomer is just having a teary beacuse he couldnt shake a tag and rack up some more brownlow votes.

Posted

that's a bit harsh!

dunn was given a job and that was to follow brent harvey

the first blow was hard to see but the second should not have been a report or a free for that matter

giving away two frees and two freekicks in the space of 15 seconds for something you dont think you deserve is enough to make any one lose the plot

basically? did he insinuate that he was selfish?

Dunn's only learning to be a midfilder and a tagger, he's going to get better at it, learn when to leave his opponent and when to stay on him...

....So 28 disposals and 2 goals in yet another BOG (or close to) performance means he couldnt shake a tag? Even though Dunn didnt run with him all day, it's fair to say Boomer smashed Dunn and rather convincingly.

Stupid comment.

If Dunn's a gun, then our whole team is full of guns. Reality is Dunn has struggled with all positions he's been tried in and tagging is the last resort. If he doesn't develop well in this position then it's delist time in 2-3 years.

Posted

Yeah i thought he did say he was selfish, that was what he told them he was sledging him with. Pick 14 turns out an average tagger. He needs to look at good taggers like ling and rawlings, they actually look at the ball and can read the play. I'd prefer to see dunn be a creative mid fielder. see if he can cut it or not.

Harvey - Who I rate as a footballer was nothing more than an acting little swine today.

If he actually made those statements about Dunn on triple MMM today he can add whingeing to his

soft [censored] actiing ability.

For those bagging Dunn , wake up you clowns he has reinvented himself in a productive role under DB

& taken some decent scalps along the way.

He will be important going forward.

Dunn is the same as Cameron Ling a few years ago. Not much of a position player but has become the best run with/taggers in the game. It takes time an Dunn is on the right track.

Posted

I've had a bet on Harvey winning the Brownlow.

The umps like him, so he'll probably get a sympathy vote for today's game; what's more, he played well, too, so he might even deserve one. Keep an eye out for Melb/North Round 17. Be a laugh - well, more of a grimace, actually - if Harvey won by 1. May be reminiscent of The Robbery Match, Round 4 1997. Chris Grant got 3 votes despite only getting 3 kicks, 1 mark and 7 handballs and playing on Neitz who kicked 7 goals.

And Dunn is just doing what he's told; it's his job to get on Harvey's nerves. Let him sook, but when he comes out and says Brady Rawlings is not all sugar and spice I will take him seriously.

Posted

I dont mind Dunn, and he doing OK as a tagger in my opinion. But to say he played well today or got the better of Harvey is just moronic. Harvey had a massive influence on the game with his 28 disposals and 2 goals and will rightly get Brownlow votes.

His comments are probably fair, as Dunn really does need to learn when to leave his man. I remember at one stage last week he ran AWAY from the man with the ball who was streaming into an open 50 to go find his opponent. Cost us a goal and made him look like a right moron. The difference between him and Ling is that Ling racks up 25 touches and a goal while keeping his opponents influence to a minimum. Dunn is a long way from doing that, so lets hope he gets there.

Posted

Also for the record, taggers are the worst part of footy. Call them "selfless" or whatever you want, I still think they're pathetic. Exceptions to Ling, Kornes who actually find the ball themselves also.

Posted

So now Dunn's a hack after being beaten?

Talk about NFI guys. He's still 21 and learning his craft. Dunny will learn and Harvey is a soft staging little [censored].

Ling & Rawlings are the two best in the business, the comparison is a bit premature. Lets get stuck into Nathan Jones cause he is no Jimmy Bartel.

Agree. He was beaten today by a bloke who may win the brownlow and Scotty F`n McLaren will make sure he got 3 today! I would have been incensed Like Dunny watching Harvey fake a hit if I got reported a second time in 30 seconds too! Good on ya Dunny you`ve had a good year son and a bit more mongrel will do just nicely. Harvey, you can play footy but you`re just a girls blouse like your mate McLaren

Posted

Harvey was BOG today.

Dunn's still learning the tagging craft. It takes a few years of doing it week in week out to learn how to damage teams the other way while still shutting a guy down. If being a tagger is going to be Dunn's role going forward, then he could end up like a Ling who goes forward and kicks a goal or two a week as well.

exactly. if harvey is having a crack at him after the game it tells me he didn't like the attention, and thats a good thing. considering dunn is in his first year in this role, he's doing a fine job without pretty much all of his better midfield teamates there to help him.

lets slag them all off hey boys, your an idiot

Dunn may have struggled, and he may even be selfish (he isn't IMO) but at least he is not a diving cheat who has a cry everytime someone lays a finger on him. You may suck idiots like McLaren in, but I doubt anyone at the tribunal will give you any awards for your acting.

What a hero he is, coming out and attacking a young player learning the game

I have lost all rspect for Harvey. He has a player on his team who employs the exact same tactics as every other tagger in the AFL, so to single out Dunn like that is a pathetic response. I can't wait to see the Roos get smashed by 12+ goals come finals time again.

Thought this is poor, "North Melbourne champion Brent Harvey has launched a scathing post-game attack on the tagging tactics of Melbourne youngster Lynden Dunn on Sunday saying he was glad that Dunn was reported twice within the space of a minute for striking him."

The game has changed, somethings not for the better.

Agree 100% with you , I had a bit of respect for Harvey until now , I dont see the need for any opposition player to slag off another in the media. I hope Dunn uses this as motivation to towel him up next time. What ever happened to not giving your opposition any ammo for the next time we play them. The wheel will turn for our great club then we will see how so called champions play against us.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
