I think he's still rather raw. I still have some misgivings with this lad but he seems to me to be coming along in little steps. A few games at senior..a chance to reprise his learnings in the magoos.. another couple of games in the firsts etc.

It might be just me but he seems to be getting better. He starting to not only get through on his "little runs" ( and I must confess I love seeing a player take on the lines ) but he's starting to get it to others with ( well at this stage ) at least average quality deliveries ) and thats better than some other players we could mention who ought to be leaps and bounds better ;)

Im actually starting to think he may be a player

your thoughts ??

buckley has beeen good! takes risks in which coaches love and adds hard pace to our lineup. been very impressive with his attitude aswell.

leave him in the side for the rest of the year now

Buckley's game i thought was pretty good and got better as the game wore on, loved the way he ran the lines and did over a pretty good job considering the amount of mistakes that were made during the game, his foot skills are getting better each game and i am sure confidence is a big factor.

I really can see with more experience in the big league he will definately become a great running half back flanker, would hate to see him play close to goals and nullify his pace just hope he gets enough game time from now on in

I've been a huge critic but I think he might be getting somewhere - his speed is a very handy asset, and his disposal has improved considerably. Nearly everyone is slowly improving in this side so let's hope it continues

His biggest problem was his lack of accountability / workrate.

It was something that they worked on at Sandy (according to Lovell's coaches reports), and since he's been back in the Dees side he's been much better.

He has pace and a willingness to take risks, which is something we need - it was the reason Ward played as long as he did. Lets hope Buckley's disposal is better than Ward's, though :)

I said in the preseason that he was the second coming of Chris Judd (West Coast version).

And I stick by that!

Will get better every game he plays. His pace is sensational, and he can nail goals on the run from 50.

Watch this space!

well he did that once... in a pre-season game... would like to see it again

not a bead of sweat on Juddy's sack at present but as I said there's something there

you need to exercise more restraint in your posts ffs

Agreed. However his disposal and decision making needs to improve and he needs to do it consistently. And having disposal better than Ward is nothing to crow about. Pace and willingness to take risks just blows up in your face if you massacre disposal of the ball.

His chase downs and tackling was sensational in the win against Brisbane. Hope he stays in the side and continuies to progress.

He is looking more confident out there the past 2 games and maybe he is starting to believe he has what it takes. Love the way he takes on the opposition. Couldnt care less how often he turns it over this year cos he will improve with more gane time. How many has he played?? 10?? He suits our game plan and he has a future.

I am glad you are not our coach.

Cheers Jerry. All I am saying is he should be encouraged to run with it and take on the man. Yes , he is turning it over occassionally but SFW. He is learning , getting better and it`s good to watch when he breaks the lines. His skills will improve when he`s played 30 odd games

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
