Well firstly Im starting to wonder if the majority of sports jounalists arent using Demonland as their first port of call ( and who could blame them ). Seems a lot of reporting is paralleling our debates. Isnt it nice to be at the forefront of AFL discussion

Well as mentioned elsewhere Jack Watts is a lad who deserves serious consideration. Also I tend to agree that earlier this year it was really a lay down misere that we were adding to the cutlery cabinet. Now if we keep doing silly things like winning, for god sakes, we may have to adjust our sights.

I suppose the reality is we'll get one of..Watts, Rich or Natanui..and in any shake of the dice thats not too shabby a result. Personally Id rather have the box seat when it comes to picking this years offerings and I cant help but feel that despite Fremantle's position is as much the effect of inability to win I get the distinct odour or "turret grease" from the other coast !!

It makes getting along to a Carnival game or two much more an interesting prospect !!

Now I know we're sponsored by the Aged but I wasnt aware of the contra in supplying scribblings, who'd da thunk !! ;)

l reckon we will be in the box seat to take Watts, the shockers and wet toast will go for the other 2. At this stage we are probably going to second last, reckon Freo will win a few more and we will win maybe 1 or 2.

I'm leaving work early to go see the game at the dome.

I believe all 3 prospects are playing in the one game at the Dome on Wednesday 9th July, at 3:30. Is that right?

I thought the game started at 2:30pm

hey guys, is there any chance that we could finish 13th and miss out on watts, rich and naitanui. Port seem to be tanking so hard and given our recent form we could very easily win another 5 games, those being freo(r16) essendon(r18),wce(r20), port(r21) richmond(r22). So lets not get ahead of ourselves.

We won't beat Freo at Subi, they are going to get alot of players back. We won't beat Port at AAMI, we never do even when we're good.

Essendon are looking much better, as are Richmond.

We will probably beat West Coast.

Feel better?

All things being equal its unlikley we would beat them at AAMI... they also play the hapless Shockers who may be keep on cementing a high pick. I doubt that Port will prove a threat. Worsfold Woosies on the other hand ...

Even though we have improved significantly from the start of the year (particularly since the 2nd hawks game), we are developing quite a list of injuries. I can't see us winning too many without Robbo, Rivers, Moloney, McLean etc. But as long as we are competitive and make sure the opposition have to fight really hard for it, I'll be reasonably happy.

Agreed...Go Dee's and while we're at it Go Dockers and Go Eagles!

Is it all a done deal? Is the decision for Brock to have his operation now so that he can get a full pre-season under his belt another sign, clubs who can't make the finals, start competing for draft pick positioning by taking away the best players of their respective clubs?

Touchy subject I know.

Really - I think we all know what is happening, its just that no-one wants to admit to it.

Also - how can the AFL put a stop to it all, is it the balls in the draw (a la NBA style) or simply (more complicated) by having a relegation type set up like the EPL, so all sides are hell bent on winning!

Ball draw style!!

The 4 bottom sides all pick a number.....wham bam, problem solved.

Geez you would be spewing if you had 80% of the balls and you ended up with Pick 4 having finished bottom........but that's why this method maybe a better alternative.

I don't see how a lottery would change anything. Clubs who are out of finals contention would still put injured stars on ice and get them ready for next year and they'd still blood young inexperienced players. Not to do so would be stupid in the extreme. Tanking is largely a myth. Cheaton last year are the first to definately tank IMO, I can't remember anyone else making dodgy coaching moves at critical times in close games.

The other aside to all this is that if we are NOT likely to finish last then the easy path to grabbing Warnock is taken away and we have to look at using trade week to get him, if indeed, thats the plan.

Means we will have to step up to the plate and make a call on his value. If we gain an additional priority pick , do we possibly need to use this as part of some deal in order to shore up getting Warnock ?

The bottom 4 sides all get one ball each.

I too would not be surprised if we won another 4 or 5 games.

Iam still not sure whether i want to see us win or get good picks.

I can say that i was extremely excited and anxious during the final quarter on the weekend.

Either way I think we will still get a top 3 draft pick, and most likely pick up Watts, who by the sounds of it would be great for us.

We need a big, big forward. All our other forwards are not big like Brown,Bradshaw, Roughead.

A big crash and bash forward would be great.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
