Sandringham team selection doesn't make sense to me these days.

I don't pretend to know either Jack, I expect him to play... although maybe you can confirm as to whether he looked less than interested last weekend? He's been dropped from the senior side (MFC) twice now, rumours on another thread is that he's out of the leadership group as well.

White is on it as well and I can hardly see him getting dropped at this stage.

Yes, but he's named in the seniors. Yze is not.

I assume if a player is selected in the 18 set positions then he'll play on Sunday. There are only five MFC players in this category, leaving 11 Demons on the extended bench. Seven will be left after Melbourne finalises its 22 players for the Brisbane game tomorrow evening but only a maximum of four will play in the Sandy seniors (barring unforeseen injuries etc). That means it's possible that Cheney, Newton and one other Demon plays in the Sandy 2's and a few of the Sandy boys who struggled and were easily brushed aside by Port Melbourne play senior football. Doesn't make sense for Sandy and doesn't make sense for Melbourne. I guess there's half a season to go and what was once a very good relationship will be over.

Yze is probably listed on the bench because Sandy didn't know in time who Melbourne's emergencies were?

Look out for Barlow, could be a possible draftee from Werribee

The adjusted squad after allowing for the four players on the interchange for the Melbourne v Brisbane game. Should we assume Jeff White goes into the ruck ahead of Meesen?

interesting there are 12 mfc players named, even if most of them are on the bench.

i have a hunch that the 12 named will play and that some sandy players will be dropped from the 18.

do we have a reserves team?

:D

I'm hoping Newton plays. He's the biggest pre-occupation for me on these boards and as a concerned fan. Petterd is another big one, but he's slowly coming back and will certainly be in line for the last 6 rounds... But Newton is so important to our future in the sense that he fills a BIG hole, at least partially. If he's no good I want them to decide ASAP.

I was going to go out on a limb and suggest they might be resting White for this week to give hime a two week rest before the run home... Looking at the side that would be doubtful

Would the fact that Sandy are looking to their future beyond the MFC alliance and seeing what they can get out of their own stock?

Of the players on the bench Yze, Maric and Cheney are coming off poor games last week and may the price. Carroll was not that good either. Newton had a poor game in Sandy 2nds. Suggest it will be Carroll, White, Cheney and Morton.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
