I have heard rumours that Ashley Hansen from WCE wants to return home to Vic and Melbourne has been linked to him.

Thoughts?

One more time for dramatic affect.

P.S.- if your signature gets any longer Yze_Magic, it'll need a forum all to itself.

Is Jonathan Brown still out of contract - suggest we make a huge play to get him? Imagine Brown, Miller, Sylvia, Davey, Wonaeamirri, all running around the forward line.

I'd also go for Cousins at the same time - McLean, Jones, Cousins, Bruce, Green, Morton

Backline with Garland, Frawley, Rivers, Bartam, Warnock, Whelan

Get Natinui (or Rich)

I still believe that we are only a couple of players, and this development season from rising up the ladder

And with Brown and Cousins, imagine the membership rise and the marketing dollars

BROWN OUT OF QUESTION I DOUBT HE LEAVE BRISBANE EVER AND THEY WONT LET HIM GO

BUT COUSINS ON OTHER HAND COULD BE GOOD TOOL FOR MARKETING I HAVE DROVE PAST HIM TRAINING AT JUNCTION OVAL EVERY MORRING AT 6AM AND BELVIE ME HE IS BURNING UP THE TRACK LOOKING VERY FIT

He grew up as a Demon supporter .

So did JUDD!

Look where he went!

Moose

Lets wait and see what the end of season brings. He's got bad Hammies so I wouldn't offer too much.

In the paper I think they wrote that Warnock is almost a certainty to join his brother next year. We will then have a ruck division of White, Naitanui and Warnock with P.J and Meeson as backups (Jamar has to be gone). Can we sack Meeson? He will clearly be a list clogger next year he had his chance early this year and stuffed it with continual bad form.

Cousins has dodgy hamstrings and has missed are year of footy and at 30 so I doubt we will go for a quick fix in Cousins. I'd prefer to give pick 17 or 18 for Prismall.

Has probably played about the same as Rivers n Whelan in the last 2 years. Ludicrous to even consider. Hey, what about Rusling, he`s good for 2 maybe 3 games a year!!

I have thought about this problem of so many ruckman too, and have contemplated that if the WCE don't finish bottom 2, could we consider a possible trade where we could swap our no.1 pick for their 3rd or 4th, and somehow package up deal that would also land us Daniel Kerr?

So Pick 1 to West Coast for Pick 3/4 and Daniel Kerr?

Shouldn't trade pick 1.

Absolutely not!! Way too injury prone. Plays 1 game in 5.

hansen was there center half forward back in there glory days! he is a massive unit and he does kick goals!!

I'd do it. And you'd get Cousins for not much - they're great mates.

Won't happen though.

J Brown and D Kerr. Both have indicated they want to stay where they are, both clubs have indicated they want to keep them (Kerr is contracted till 09), so IMO very much idle speculation to suggest that either one would be traded.

but rarely plays - always injured. Also a hit up CHF type- bit like Miller.

I wish that were true, unfortunately I think it was just a case of one and one makes three. Warnock hasn't said anything other than he'll wait to the end of the year to make his decision.

Hey! I was thinking we could bundle up Ellis, Funcke, Moorcroft, Read, Pickett and now HANSEN!!!

Please posters, let's not get nasty with each other, we want to progress, not regress. Please look to the future. We don't want any more damaged goods....

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
