Without doubt, but most supporters have no idea of the process that he and others will go through at this age but will have an orgasm when it all clicks, forget this year the next 1 to 2 years are the most important for us.

Don't be such a cynic. Rd 3, Moreton arrived with poise and skill - he's just lost it (poise that is) a bit. The reverse for Garland, not forgetting he is an 06 pick, so has a year under his belt. Stepping up in your second year is about right.

Drop Morton and bring in who. I'd rather Morton running around for MFC learning how to play at this level then players that won't be on our list next year. To me it looked like he was slipping when he kicked.

Morton's kicking action has been likened to that of Cameron Bruce. Here lieth the problem. That is to say, the method he uses to bring the ball down to his boot has lots of room for error. His action action requires him to be very deliberate in watching the ball down to his foot. Under pressure, when he doesn't have the time to really concentrate on it, his technique has been shown up and his kicks have looked very loopy and inaccurate. This is probably correctable with lots of practice. The best kicks in the game don't have to think much about it and kicking appears very natural, because they have done it thousands of times from an early age. Jimmy Stynes, Tadgh Kennelly, Sean Wight all kicked in this very deliberate and non-instinctive way, Marty Clarke is better. Chip Frawley is a good example of an unnatural kicking action who hopefully can learn. Morton is better than this and can be very accurate, but I just don't like the way he gets the ball from hand to boot. The fact that i notice it says something about it. The great kicks in the game have no visible or noticeable quirks to their action.

If there is one thing you can't teach a player, it's being able to read and understand the play. He constantly runs to the right position and he has pace, and I could snap him like a twig.

If he turned it over 19 times a game this year, I'd still be happy to have him out there learning. You don't drop a kid because he's had a few bad kicks. You retain him because he finds the ball, and he knows where to run and he has a football brain. Thank god he has a football brain!

He doesn't seem to completely shank the ball as much as what Bruce does.

I think his confidence is down, which is leading to his radar being a little off.

He hasnt played for Sandy yet, only for the MFC.

He needs a few weeks at Sandy for sure. He would really dominate there and get confidence. He has no troubling finding the pill, but his kicking of late has been deplorable.

he is a 10 gamer... he does not have the build for afl. and he just got 20 possies.

He's doing just fine. The more he plays at afl level, the better he will get.

The ONLY positive out of this year is the fact we're getting 20 games into Wonaeamirri, Garland, Morton etc.

I agree. Yes he had a shocka today but still manages to find the footy and run to the right spots when others arent. I did look rattled today though !

people aren't saying he's no good and should be dropped till he earns a game again...

they're just suggesting that perhaps this is a point in his development where heading back to sandy will be good for his development... find some confidence again, and come back into the side a better player...

I am not doubting him getting to the ball or making space or finding it, its what he does with the ball that is terrible.

Bad decisions, slow decision making, terrible kicking.

Morton. His games against Adelaide and Geelong are more impressive than anything Palmer has coughed up this year.

Palmer is Paul Hasleby reincarnate. Hasleby played 21 games as an 18 year old in his first year and averaged 21.4 possessions. He ultimately won the Norwich Rising Star Award. In comparison Palmer averages 22. Palmer is obviously a very good young player, but don't expect much more upside.

Unreal to see so many peopl out to knock this kid and yes he is a kid and from what i saw of him today before the game in the rooms you would shake your head at the skin and bones he only has yet still finds his way around the field where the ball is or where it's going good reader of play and do you think Bailey and the coaching staff would be so stupid to keep playing a kid if he would not learn so much and be so much better in years to come and didnt Terry Wallace come out earlier stating that VFL is one level and AFL is so much higher or words similar so what would he learn from playing VFl and from watching Saturday's game i doubt he would

Who's knocking him? He was worst on ground today, you get that sometimes. I think everyone is unanimous in his long term prospects.
