Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson did well in Canberra. Looks like those reports of a more mature approach and style of play for Sandringham were true. Now he's had a good game on top of an OK game at AFL level, let's see what a little more confidence can do for him.

That's two goodies in a row. Happier now, he's climbed up the rungs another step. Putting two solid games together is more than can be said for many... And best of all he's still a relatively young player, learning first and foremost the 1%ers and defensive workrate.

Keep it up CJ, you have another 9 rounds, no reason why you can't cement a place in the 22.

have said all along, he is like his old man who took a long time to mature and was in mid 20's before he showed a bit, CJ is coming along nicely

I'm just happy he is finally getting the opportunities he deserves.

And I'm sure someone will come on here and say "he got the limited opportunities he deserved in the past" (yes, that's directed at you Rhino), but we all know he didn't. He wasn't brilliant at Sandy, but poorer players received game after game after game, while CJ was brought in only to spend 60% of the game on the bench and be dropped the next week.

At least Bailey is playing him for full games now, giving him an actual role and some responsibility. It makes a huge difference to an inexperienced player when someone actually believes in your abilities. CJ is a very good user of the ball and has some pace. If he can develop a defensive side to his game he might even turn out to be a very good player.

Put it this way, had we picked up CJ with pick 3, and Sylvia with a third round pick, I'm sure Sylvia would be on his way out now while we'd still be pumping up CJ. Perception is everything.

Johnson[senior] took no time to become an excellent wingman! Mind you, he was a seriously respected player in W.A before coming east.
As to C.J I'm delighted with his current form. One of his first games, 3 years ago? was against the Eagles in W.A. A first v second clash as I recall it. And Johnson was outstanding in the toughest environment imaginable. He can play!

Well, I have always been a bit of an unashamed fan of Chris Johnson. Firstly, I have always thought he was under-utilised, and he is a confidence player who was never given a chance to gain confidence under Danners. He is a prolific left foot kick, and given the cxhance to back himself, I think he could become a very good half back flanker/wingman.

I spoke to Dean Bailey about CJ at the 150, and he said there is no doubt he is the stiffest player on our list. He also said he would get his opportunity in or soon after the Collingwood game.

I think it is fantastic to see that CJ is takng his opportunity, and I hope he continues to improve and grow in confidence to justify the faith his supporters have in him.

Agree Choko. I hope he makes up for lost time. He needs to perform.

No.

Chris Johnson.

Just...

No.

He's a poor mans Luke Williams imo.

If Chris Johnson somehow transforms into a good league footballer that can impact games or even just play a role, then I would say that Dean Bailey is a greater teacher of men than Jesus himself once was.

Alas, the chances of Chris Johnson becoming a serious league footballer are about 4 billion to 1.

a shame Yze magic is on his sabatical... maybe he won tattslotto, you get better odds than 4 billion to 1 playing that...

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
