So was Carroll dropped at all or was it injury the whole time?

Ricky Petterd seems a likely player too but where are Wheels, Yze and Holland?

We are carrying a lot of baggage that just aren't even getting a look in at getting a game ... (but don't include Wheels or Wheats)

Rivers please don't turn into a James Hird ... do some searching, take drugs, hormones ... anything I don't care if its illegal lol just get out on the park ... drugged to the hilt with morphine and you would still be irreplaceable.

I work very close to the Junction Oval, on the way home tonight Melb was training and Carroll was walking laps by himself, must have been injuried and the way he was walking he isn't playing for a couple of weeks.

Wheels, Yze and Holland all played for Sandringham against the Tassie Devils.

If he does what you're suggesting, he'll have a short career. Let's hope he passes his test this week as we could do with both him and Sylvia back in the side.

Ricky = 426

The curse continues.

Rivers better be fit for this week, or Franklin will break the all time record for most goals kicked by an individual player in a single game!

Two promising players whose development has somewhat been stalled due to injuries. Not fair.

Can someone clarify for me: now that Neitz has retired, does Wonaeamirri get to stay on the senior list for the remainder of the year? May be a dumb question but I've heard conflicting answers.

Aussie came off the rookie list and onto the senior list to replace Jack Grimes when he went onto the long term injury list.

Shane Valenti came off the rookie list as a result of Neita's placement on the LTI list. Doesn't that mean that when Grimes comes back from injury in a couple of weeks' time that Aussie has to go back on the rookie list?

Is it possible to interchange upgraded rookies?

man that would sux to loose aussie.. i mean good for valenti but not ideal for the club if it works out that way...

Yeah that's what I was thinking...swap Aussie to be Neita's replacement so Valenti goes back when Grimes comes in? No offence Valenti, but to lose Aussie now would just make this season all the more awful. Is Grimes even close to coming back?

We can do what St Kilda has done and instead of retiring someone we put the on the long term injury list. Holland or Yze would be the best picks, but by promoting Valenti, I don't think the club expects Grimes to be fit this year.

I think Holland or Yze would have to have a real injury for that happen as Fraser Gehrig does.

I think that you will find that the club can nominate which rookie goes back when Grimes come good. Note that the club did not promote Valenti until they were pretty positive that Nietz would not play again, thus preserving a permanent place for Wonaeamirri.

I hope so. It would make sense though - imagine if Neitz hadn't been on the LTI, and had retired spontaneously. Then the club would have had the choice over any rookie to promote, right? So in effect Melbourne is just choosing any of the 4 rookies to get a spot on the senior list. Well that's the way I hope it is.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
