Good Question. I was thinking about this myself. I scorned those that said Judd could leave last year and ate my words.

But I think you have to look at players that genuinely are a chance of leaving their respective clubs therefore I would say Ablett, and Franklin are not on the market.

I would give number one pick (and plus)for Brown Chad Cornes or Pavlich. I think they are gettable as well. I dont think the doggies Griffin is available but i would give 1+ for him as well.

I would give a high first round for Glass Reiwoldt Simon Black, Rutten O'Keeke Minson(prob cant get him) or Fev. What about Hawks Hodge?they must be tight for salary cap..

I would give a second round pick for Haselby even though he is injured and we have one(brock). I just think he has a lot left in the tank at 25 and can be had. Ive watched his career and he hasnt had much of a go. Could be great.

Well given the quality of the first 3 picks versus where our lists at then probably only a young gun like Franklin [and then his shoulder would probably completely let go <_< ]

here are some trades I would consider

- Hawthorn send us Lance Franklin, Jarryd Roughead, Cyril Rioli and Luke Hodge

- Fremantle send us Matthew Pavlich, Rhys Palmer, Aaaron Sandilands and their first round pick (looking like a top 3)

- Brisbane send us Jonathan Brown, Jared Brennan, Michael Rischitelli, Matthew Leunberger, Jed Adcock and their 1st and 2nd round pick

Brown - too old to trade for number 1 pick, and too injury prone.

Cornes - too old.

Pavlich - Possibly. But probably too old to fit into our plan.

Griffin - wouldn't demand pick one if Judd wouldn't.

Glass - High first rounder for a defender? Hell no.

Riewoldt - Can't kick straight. First rounder, but not high first rounder.

Black - You're kidding aren't you?

Rutten - First rounder. Not a high pick though. Suits us down to the ground.

O'Keefe - Yep. Late first rounder.

Minson - HA! The dogs would be thrilled to get a first rounder for him. I'd rather stick with PJ.

Fev - Not a chance in hell. I wouldn't even trade a second rounder. He'll be gone by his second year, and won't last 4 years even if he works hard. He won't kick goals with our midfield. Completely backward trading. MFC is not a retirement home.

Hodge - The only player the Hawks would be keener to keep would be Buddy who is a one-man membership campaign. Hodge is vital to that team. He's not going anywhere. But again, even if he was, if Judd can't command pick one, Hodge can't.

Hasleby - For a second-rounder... maybe. He's disenfranchised, would like a fresh start, has always struck me as a player that would lie to play at a club with history... A footballer's footballer.

The truth is we don't have ANYTHING ANYONE would want for any of these guys, except McLean/Jones and a pick.

Trading pick 1 is a completely backward step. Trading one of our second rounders or PP I think would be an idea....

I'd lie to see us trade maybe Green/Bruce and pick 17 or 19 for something around a pick 6. We certainly need to be hungry. And trade aggressively. But trades for this club usually turn out badly. The bigger clubs seem to always have the upper hand. Collingwood trading Tarrant being an obvious example...

With that in mind I'd say no to a trade...

But I just reckon in the PSD we'll have bugger all on offer.

Though I think maybe you're right, pick 1 would be a bit of a gamble to drop on a guy with suspect injury history. If Cousins and this guy are there we should look at both seriously. We could use some maturity in our list.

That said, another Martin with our PSD pick wouldn't go astray either.

I think it's a pretty pointless question given that if any club has a player worth the number one pick, they would obviously need him for their own structure. And any club willing to give up a star for pick one would only give up an older player which doesn't help us one skerrick

the eagles didn't exactly have a big hand to play when it came to trading judd

there was only one club they could deal with, and though it was unlikely to ever happen, they could've lost him for nothing

i think if he'd had another two years left on his contract, or they'd been dealing with a team that had any sort of ruck division, then he could easily have attracted the no. 1 pick

considering that the best you could ever hope for with a no.1 pick would be judd

however, purely for marketing purposes, i wouldn't give up natanui for anyone

cant see Bailey trading any picks away. with the upcoming changes to the draft we need to keep picks and get quality kids. dont be fooled by only the one win. we offloaded the maximum 11 players at the end of last year and are heading in the right direction. for next year- Neitz Yze Holland retire, keep Carroll on list at Sandy, handy back up , blood new key defender. offer White + ( ) in desperate hope of another first round pick.
