Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Casey Demons v Collingwood VFL

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

We are into Round 8 of the 2017 VFL and finally, a Casey Demons game is going live and free to air on Saturday. Despite Casey's moderate form in the season to date and the fact that some of its fixtures were slotted in the evenings, it's a bit of a mystery why it has taken until almost mid-season for last year's grand finalist and minor premier to make it onto our screens - especially as the club has a new identity this year. And would the VFL Demons television debut been delayed even longer had they not been fixtured to play Collingwood this weekend?

That makes 19 MFC listed players but 4 go back into the team for QB Monday and at least one (but most likely two) as the carry over emergency for that game as well.

I hope today's game proves to be better than the equivalent last year when the Scorpions ? were close to the top of the ladder and had a team full of experienced players who were supposed to be very good at this level and ended up copping a flogging.

Here's a preview of today's game from the VFL site

CASEY DEMONS vs COLLINGWOOD – 2:10PM Saturday 10 June @ Casey Fields (Channel 7 / Casey Radio)

LAST TIME THEY MET – Casey 2.7 (19) def. by Collingwood 8.11 (59) – 2016 Round 10 @ Casey Fields

The runners-up from 2016 are having an up and down season so far in 2017. They’ve been able to beat contenders such as Port Melbourne, and lose to similarly placed teams like Geelong. Their 3-4 record could be the result of a tough draw – they’ve already played three of the top four teams, but inconsistency has been an issue.

The Demons are coming off two victories in a row, and will look to get on a mid-season roll by beating Collingwood at home. The Magpies are also in good spirits, breaking a run of five consecutive losses after a 14-point win at home against Sandringham.

A Casey win will see the Demons break away from the bottom pack of the ladder, while a Collingwood win will make things very tight in the position 9-12 range of the ladder – four teams will be equal on three wins.

The Development League game against the Box Hill Hawks is due to start in about 20 minutes. The match is a replay of the 2016 DL Grand Final which from a Casey POV was quite forgettable.

The strange thing about all of this is the fixturing of the AFL Development League competition The Demons have a bye next week and their next game after the break is against ... Box Hill Hawks at the City Oval, Box Hill.

That's more than a little bizarre as far as I'm concerned.

Kingy playing in the development league which means Spencer and Keilty will be switching between Ruck/Forward most of the game, should work pretty well I'd think, especially if they can kick a couple of goals between them

King in the development league does underscore the list management difficulties with ruckmen. If you need 3-4 on your list as some suggest... where do they play ... the development league is not really the long term answer.

In the old days teams played two ruckmen so it was not as big an issue.

Not sure what the answer is

Looking at Footywire Demons,King is listed as a forward ruckman. If King is going to be a lpyer of the future it is important for him to play for Casey Seniors why did we bother recruitring him

Hahahah Casey just got gifted 2 goals, first from a good play out the back but as he kicked it was driven into the ground so the Umpire called the goal then gave him another free 10m out directly in front

Conditions absolutely perfect at Casey Fields for the big clash between traditional rivals.

The Demons are more than 10 goals up in the early game v Hawks and looking a picture in these uniforms. I believe the development league hasn't been setting the world on fire but it seems different today with ruck dominance and plenty of skill and run all around the ground. King looks strong in the ruck and just kicked a nice goal.

There have been some suggestions that the development league is going to fold and that in the future. Players who don't make it to the main team will end up playing in local leagues. I can't see much benefit in us playing our young draftees in such competitions. And if you have 4 or 5 ruckmen on your list, some are going to miss out and end up playing in a suburban team.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
