He’s soft. Too slow to kick the footy. Creates turnovers -

Gawn ❌ Darcy goal Weideman ✅ Gawn ❌ goal Walters Pickett 15 metres out - miss ❌ Hibberd ❌ goal Walters We have dumb footballers. That’s the truth. One quarter left. Even if we win, Dees are not the quality of a Top 8 team. -
It’s the shocking virus that exists throughout our playing group. When we lose, it’s often poor decision making especially poor use of the footy. Especially overhandballing!! Often it’s too a teammate under pressure as well. And creates turnovers. And tonight with wet weather. The chronic disease of overhandballing means you fumble and slip and create no space or territory.

All the media was writing about the Trade Disaster by MFC to do the trade of pick 6 to Suns for Steven May (and Kk). Suns got Ben King, described as a superstar already. Fast forward 2 months and 10 games and May is showing why Dees were so desperate to get him onboard. He has had a great year not only stopping opponents but rebounding the footy to generate attack. A true modern full back (who I think is still improving) with strength, pace and skills and can deliver the footy 50-60 metres. May is a champion on and off the field.

I agree. I thought we were slow and had no intensity. Kane Cornes highlighted the off the ball jogging and refusal to chase or put yourself into the zone. Did Goodwin even motivate or prepare them. Today had better be a different mindset. -
That’s right

Inability to kick in the wind

Learnings for players AND coaches Goodwin has been outcoached by Beveridge and now Longmire. When defending - put players (at least one) behind the ball and look to run the footy. Keep possession. Know which side of the player is most likely. ie. Defending v the breeze. Stay goal side of your player. Forwards must be in front. When attacking - Don’t expect the breeze to kick it. Setup for higher contests around the 30-40 so you can take contested footy and still hit the goals. Need to allow for the breeze and keep a player to run on to the footy in attack. Mostly the windy conditions SUIT SMART FOOTBALLERS WITH GOOD DECISION MAKERS AND ELITE SKILLS. That’s not the 2020 Dees!! -
