Whilst Sam has been largely disappointing over the past 5 years, he had shown glimpses that make him a valuable player to keep. We need to be mindful that in 2021, we have had a low injury count year. We have been able to have Jacko and Tmcd plus Weid and BBB as required. Keeping Weid allows us to have the safety net and try to keep on developing him. I see Sam as a key forward (CHF ultimately) but little likelihood of a backline role or ruck. 49 games. 49 goals. Certainly he is now 24 and less of a boy and needs to be a man in terms of physical ability to compliment his talents. Two year extension to 2023 through to free agency is fair enough.

I really hope Nev is behind the scenes working with Kozzzy to show him the hard work and discipline of AFL footy. I’m sure Nev is a wonderful mentor to our team and will be part of our big day.

Lloyd is a tool. Dees would want to be ready to back up Max. Viney to be assigned to the Bont and bury him as a response.

Langdon was exactly the player we needed. In fact would love another fast endurance midfielder as well. Like Lever, May, Brown … getting Langdon onboard has been a trade success.

I agree with the conversation. Hunt being fit allows for a potential to add a lot of impact. Forward or back. His run versus the dogs in round 19 was actually one of the better performers. Hunt could also play wing if we lost a mid and Brayshaw had to go into the rotation. Dogs pace is a worry. Hunt could help combat it if we lost a man. JJ is the safe and loyalty option. Goodwin loves this. It’s the team. JJ has been replaced by Sparrow. It would break JJs heart to be dropped. JJ is quite vanilla.

I think this is where the game will be one and lost. The mids are going to be a tough battle across both sides. The difference in round 19 (apart from biased dogs umpires) was Daniel was allowed to be free and had 34 possessions to setup play going forward. He must be stopped and negated.

Usually I cry out for more media and recognition for the Dees. But over the last two weeks, we’ve been overwhelmed with virtually the whole team plus support staff plus coaches all having media articles across the Hun, AFL website and The Age plus of course our own Dees website. The job is not done. Don’t drink the bath water. Stay focussed. We have had a great year. Stay hungry. But the job is not done.
