  1. Adonski, it goes to show that top draft picks are best used to recruit talent and class, not work rate. By all means screen the talent for attitude, and if work rate is not there than ask why not, but then back your culture to get the most out of each recruit.
  2. I can't stand Bruce. BT is good value, love his roaming BT segment, and even funnier that he did it at Rick Levers wedding.
  3. I'd like to see us play back men in our forward line so that when our mids bomb it in we can run the ball out instead of the opposition. Clarkson will never know what hit him and the game will be over before they known it.
  4. I'd back Burgess to get him up and firing. Look at the horror injuries that soccer players suffer routinely and the trainer's simply spray the stuff and the players are good to go. Still a no for me.
  5. Thanks A F, can you tell them that chookrat on Demonland says to get their [censored] together.
  6. A F, re stage 4 restrictions I cannot see these being applied outside of hotspot suburbs. At the moment regional Victoria, including Greater Geelong are not under stage 3 despite more active cases than a number of Melbourne Metro councils. I reckon we will see additional LGA's moved to stage 3 and stage 4 introduced in specific hotspot postcodes.
  7. I think that ultimately social media accounts need to be governed in a way that the authorities know exactly who each account belongs to. Personally I don't have an issue with my account reflecting my own identity but also understand that people may want an account name that doesn't publicly reveal their identity. I would think mandating such a Digital ID across all social media platforms would significantly reduce online bullying, hate speech and also go along way to preventing the use of fake accounts to influence elections.
  8. Very good. l also thought Lever while not prolific was very influential with some critical intercepts and contests that had he not marked/won would have almost certainly resulted in a goal. Re Viney I reckon skill wise he is quite a good, creative kick inside our forward 50 when he doesn't blaze away. Have a look at his turn and right foot chip to Track for our first goal. There were probably 3-4 examples of him taking contact, breaking free and then using his agility to find some space and kick beautifully into our forward 50 resulting in a goal.
  9. Praha very good that you adjusted for shorter quarters ?
  10. With all teams except Melbourne and Essendon playing 6 rounds we find ourselves 1 win and 8 - 12 goal margin out of the top 8. We have played 3 teams in the 8, as well as 9th and 11th placed including narrow losses to Geelong (3 points) and poor losses to WCE and Richmond (27 points). This weekend against GCS we were more composed in our forward half in what Wasa tight match that we held ascendency for the majority of the game against a plucky GCS. While there is plenty of work to do if we can show linear improvement in our ball movement over the next few weeks we will be in good form. We face Hawthorn this week and as long as we bring our contested brand and move the ball well then we should get the win. Dees!
  11. The police need to charge people who do this sort of thing. The social media platforms need to have a process to verify users identity, perhaps even using a mobile phone account, so that people can be identified and held to account.
  12. As a club we do some seriously good work and are always on the right side of these sort of initiatives. When supporters bemoan that our club doesn't back it's players when they stuff up in the way that clubs like Collingwood does, it's because they are busy doing worthwhile things like this. On a side note, as a parent who has experienced the cluster [censored] that is home learning, I'm not looking forward to another term of it. Reckon the kids will get very good at fortnight during the next 6-8 weeks.
  13. Hannan has been very good, excellent pressure and ball use
  14. I thought the push in the back was there, but high contact against Rankine was rubbish.
  15. Head taken off, then legged in the same contest - nothing. Meanwhile Langdon tackles Rankine cleanly and the umpire calls high contacts.
  16. I think they capped the numbers for the ground based on GCS membership x 2, which equals 400.
  17. Good thing the AFL rushed through the Clarkson holding the ball interpretation change, has really opened up the scoring.
  18. I'm with you on this Leoncelli that we aren't playing the same as last year and have fixed alot of deficiencies. A bit more composure to pick the right option in our forward half and executing better will make a massive difference.
  19. I'd take some of this with a grain of salt. Jennings says that our key problem is a 30 second fix that can be addressed through some positional changes. He also references changes to the way St Kilda played under Richardson. It is easy to point out issues and how to solve them from a position where you have no responsibility for the outcome.
  20. It's a good question BW511. I think we are in quite a different position to last season in that we have our best forward and backline finally playing, and we are much stronger around the ball, with one key problem that our ball use in the forward half from our midfield is deplorable. If we look at the key offenders being Oliver, Viney and Brayshaw, we know that Oliver can kick well when he slows down a bit, Brayshaw is very skillful on both sides of his body and was massive in 2018 when he finished 3rd in the Brownlow largely due to his inside 50 entry. Viney isn't a great kick but his decision making has been the main problem. Bennell will be back in the sidevery soon to bring some outside class and Petracca will be more damaging if he can get on the outside and kick more often. I feel this year is much different to last despite the same outcome of poor inside 50 entry and goal kicking. I reckon we will find out in the next 5 weeks.
  21. We're paying $81 which I wouldn't mind dropping a cheeky $100. Just not sure I'm willing to sign up to a gambling app.
  22. I hear what you are saying Lord Travis but I don't think our conversion problem is as hard a fix as it seems. Re wins needed, we are 2 wins out of the 8 and all but one of the teams in the 8 have played an extra round to us. 10 wins should be enough, which is the Essendon match + 8 of the next 12 rounds. I seriously don't think we are in anywhere near as bad a position as supporters and the media report
  23. I reckon we are in good shape for a tilt at the flag this year and here are my reasons; 1. Eight matches into round 5 we are sitting at 1-3. Improve our composure in forward half and we are likely to find ourselves at 3-3 by the end of round 6. 2. Our list is fit, with no injuries to our best 33 players. The expected compressed fixture will work in our favour with ability to back up matches every 4-5 days through fitness and ability to rest and rotate players across all lines. 3. Our contest work is a real strength and much better than last season. Defensively we are holding up well and despite some poor discipline re being switched on we are keeping teams to a low score. 4. Our ball use can be addressed through our team playing together more, playing more than two matches in a row tweaking game style and bringing in better ball users, e.g. Harley Bennell and Nathan Jones. 5. Goodwin's management style is very much process based, we saw this in 2018 where once we got going we were the most dominant team for decent parts of the season. The next 4-5 weeks will tell us alot. I'm confident we can turn things around and be at 6-4 heading into the last 7 rounds.
  24. At the risk of making excuses, last year is not a good comparison given the lack of players and need to play players out of position week to week with our revolving door of injured players. We were without players in our best 22 more than 30% more than the next worst team which meant we lacked any ability to build cohesion. This season has all over the place with Richmond and West coast being poor and us a game behind and having only played two weeks in a row for the first time v Richmond. Let's see how we go over the next 5 games to see how we go with some degree of continuity and more than 4 weeks of training together as a team.
