New GM Communications?
I'd rather the club focus it's limited resources on footy this year and as long as we know when and where the AFL and AFLW matches are and how to buy tickets, and maybe some fan engagement for kids, that is enough for me. I'm happy that the club doesn't promote Casey home and away matches, and presume this is deliberate so they don't have to worry as much re Covid protocols for supporters attending Casey matches. For the adult supporters I'm sure we can all get by without knowing all of the ins and outs of what's happening within the club for 1 season. Alternatively the club could get Gary Pert to run Whiteboard Wednesday sessions to share insights into the inner workings of the footy department.

Darren Burgess Being Poached
This doesn't surprise me. Pert alluded to Burgess having personal reasons to be in Adelaide and that he is grateful for us to have him. I think even if Burgess moves on at the end of the year the footy department and players will be humming along from a fitness and conditioning perspective.

Free Kick Differential 2021
No necessarily. One of the Texans 25 holding the ball frees was against the umpire during the round 1 St Kilda / GWS match when the umpire was collecting the ball for a throw in, so it's +1 to the Texan (who was barracking for Saints) and -1 to the umpire.
-
Free Kick Differential 2021
25 of those are due to The Texan laying forward 50 tackles ?

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs GWS
3 changes for mine, pre-empt poor performances (minority report style) to keep players on their toes. Drop Maxy to send a message that no-one is safe, it's time to be ruthless.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs St. Kilda
I'd prefer that when this happens we describe Darcy Moore as being a poorer version of Luke Jackson. Luke Jackson is his own man and doesn't live into the shadows of others lesser than he.

Jake Lever on SEN this morning with Tim and Gary
Listened to the whole interview and Jake didn't say anything about Goody being stubborn ..... weird.

Danny Frawley
I see that Spuds Game is as much about encouraging men to talk as it is to encourage us to look out for and listen to each other. Probably all of us will have either experienced or know people who have experienced mental health challenges and the more equipped we are to speak and/or listen it can only be a positive thing. Removing the stigma also makes it easier for people to seek professional help rather than suffer in silence.

NON MFC: Rd 02 2021
Bulldogs will be excellent practice for when we meet them in the finals ?
-
NON MFC: Rd 02 2021
In seriousness I think the AFL should look at charging Chris Scott/Geelong for bringing the game into disrepute for his comments re player reports. His interaction with Lachie Neale and Brisbane players is also highly questionable. I reckon his attitude is (and has for some time) rubbing off on the players.

NON MFC: Rd 02 2021
News is in, Garry Rohan out for 2 weeks.
-
AFLW: Rd 09 vs Brisbane
Absolute ripper! 3 weeks ago we were up against it to make finals and after three big wins against contenders we now have a home final. So proud of our girls ?.

Sensational News!
Absolutely brilliant demonstone. Post of the year ?

Why QR code required?
Like many things this seems simple enough but if there were a person with Covid that attended the footy the authorities have to contact and interview everyone that may have had contact with the individual which could be hundreds of people, and then of those hundreds of people contact their close contacts, which is on average around 20 close contacts per person, so thousands of people within a very short timeframe. Given the speed required it is understandable that the State Government want this data in a form that directly interfaces with their contact tracing platform without having to rely on a third party and then interview people to see if they onsold tickets and if the people they sold them to attended.

Tribunal & MRP 2021
I can understand what Danger's lawyers are trying to do with arguing the head clash was secondary to the bump action, and therefore incidental, but this flies in the face of the argument that if you elect to bump then you accept the consequence of the bump. The troubling part is the AFL have a track record of including such a nuanced approach that over complicates things and results in preverse outcomes the next time there is a similar incident. While the AFL seems to relish in the theatre of such outcomes and the discussion it creates, we are talking about concussion and the importance of taking it very seriously.

Tribunal & MRP 2021
WTF, this is a circus. Surely the grading severe impact is determined based on the standard that is applied, not a definition provided by Siri.

Tribunal & MRP 2021
Dangers lawyer arguing Dangerfield's lawyer is highlighting that there are only three previous cases where players (all lesser players) have been charged with making severe impact to an opponent. 1. Jeremy Cameron on Harris Andrews. Cameron made contact to Andrews' head with his elbow. 2. Alex Neale-Bullen on Will Hamill. A dangerous tackle that left Hamill with concussion. 3. Ben Long on Sean Darcy. A head-high bump in which Long collects Darcy high while the Docker has his head over the ball. . He is questioning whether Dangerfield's incident fits in the same category, given he is a Brownlow medalist and 8 time All Australian.

Tribunal & MRP 2021
For clarity ANB received a 3 week penalty for careless, high contact, severe impact, but a week was added due to our failed appeal. That was for a sling tackle where the player was able to jog off the ground assisted and sat out the match with concussion. The Danger incident required Kelly to be stretchered from the ground as he was out cold before he hit the ground and also suffered a broken nose. If it is downgraded to high impact then it makes a mockery of ANB's suspension and sets a standard that would require a Mortal Kombat style fatality move to grade any incidents as severe impact. It will definitely be at least 3 weeks, and possibly 4.

Round 1 Crowd
In fairness the crowd bears some responsibility for creating the atmosphere. I was at the game and would have liked for at least 35k Melbourne supporters to be there, but can also appreciate the reluctance for people to go to the footy given our experience with Covid-19 over the past 12 months. Personally, I respect people not wanting to go to the footy during a pandemic, whether for health reasons or belief that we shouldn't be assembling in crowds, but get a little annoyed when people don't want to attend round 1 because they don't think we will play well.

Round 1 Crowd
I was there with 2 of my kids and got some goosebumps just before the first bounce. It was so good to go to he footy again. Will be interesting to see if attendances are down across the league.

MFC supporter's group to host event at male-only club
So after reading 10 pages of discussion I am no closer to understanding whether anyone is attending and can provide any insight into our plans re facilities, membership, and coaches views on the list and our prospects for the year.

Membership 2021
I had the same thing Picket. By 5.45 all of the GA tickets were gone. I'm at two kinds with this, on one hand I'm annoyed that I have to pay around $75 for a couple of tickets, but on the other hand appreciate that MCG capacity is limited to 50%, it's round one, we haven't had footy in Melbourne for more than 18 months, and that our club league isn't awash with cash but either are alot of our supporters. I would hope that the cost does not make it unaffordable for our members and it would be good if the club is able to facilitate access to round one to those who couldn't otherwise afford to go.

Mark Williams Interview
FFS, they called to asked if he could come in and he was interstate so they told him over the phone. It would have been much weirder if Dimma said I'll come to you, which Chocco would have figured out what was happening before Dimma got there. I don't know what else Dimma could have done.

Mark Williams Interview
I don't have any issue with this. Such decisions to let go of coaching staff are difficult to make, but after missing finals were seen as necessary. According to the article Dimma asked him to come in but Chocco was interstate to attend a funeral so he told him the news over the phone. I don't know what else the club could have done. The Tigers are vindicated in making the changes because they won the flag the following year. I can also understand that as a human with a love and passion for the game and his players, Chocco would have been upset.
