Farewell Jesse Hogan
Apologies if this is already up here somewhere...I just cant bring myself to read back 15 pages when nothing has actually happened! Gary Buckenara in the sun said this about jesses value. " There is an element of buyer beware with Hogan, however, given he has a long history of injury and illness that would be of concern. Plus there are the attitude issues with his body language and negativity that have been well-documented.I don’t think he’s worth two first-round picks. I place his trade value at an early first-round pick and maybe a swap of second-round picks, but those injury and performance issues impact the Demons’ ability to get a sweetener" As much as I hate to admit it ( please dont shout at me) he may well be right. If i think of Oliver leaving its internal hysteria and wanting to two top 5 picks. Hogan is not affecting me and many here in the same for the reasons I think that Bucky lists.

I think Freo are playing hard ball with Neale so that pick is not actually on the table fr us to try to grab. They will let that trade go to the last minute. Why not? Suits their purposes to go slow but we, on the other hand, will need to act early if we want May. Probably means we will argue fr pick 5 and their next years first rounder.

I’m sure it’s been raised somewhere here and burnt down as a thought. But.... thinking back to Geelong and Dangerfield they traded a first rounder ( pick 9 ?) to Adelaide for him when he was a Rfa as gaff is now. Adelaide were threatening to match any offer but, aside from that, it also helped danger feel he was taking care of his old club. I’m wondering ( given we get 2 first rounders fr Hogan) if we made an offer of one of these picks to WC for Gaff. Especially given how his season ended with all the support he got, it might Help him choose us over others. In Dangerfields case it allowed the cats to pay unders in salary also and opens that possibly fr us too.

hmmm...if he hasnt been able to even get a game at GC this year , in his second year in the system, Id be thinking he's probably a bust

Yep its accurate. She said she felt "uncomfortable" every time she walked past it...but went on to add that what Melbourne did to its players in those years was "Just as bad" as Essendon. I mean FFS. I cant remmember ever putting their lives at risk???!! Anyway It went largely unnoticed because it was on the Age Tuesday podcast after we smashed Geelong in the elimination final. But IF its around that comment then I agree she deserved it.

Another AFL integrity fail
hmmm well... in terms of the equality of the draw, marquee slots to big but underperforming clubs, crap times to smaller clubs who need exposure, changing the rules of the game to suit TV executives, crap deals for smaller clubs at ethiad ....and ( I could go on) this infringement seems pretty minor.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If he's really set on going home, I think its entirely understandable that we, as supporters, try to focus on his shortcomings. His injuries, his pace, his leap, his defensive pressure or what have you. Its a way to feel better. I think deep down we all know he's a gun.....whether some of the mentioned "flaws" derail his trajectory into a lynch type player only time will tell. But we all know he's a gun , at some level, anyway. His dad died and he had his own brush with cancer. No small things for a 20? year old . Both things can make you wonder about family and where you belong. Him going this year at least lets us trade for him. we're in the happy position where its possible we may not go backwards ( perhaps, depending on trades, even take a tiny step forward) without him. Lets make the best of this we can

I would have understood this a couple of years ago... seems like looking for trouble now.

It does have that feeling doesnt it. But I think we need to wait until we see the deal. Surely the cap space that it opens must also put us in the running for some of the bigger free agents this year?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Could also set us back quite a few if its not handled right!

Farewell Jesse Hogan
IF this is true and IF we trade Hogan for ONE first round draft pick this site is going to melt down. Yes he can hold us over a barrell and say he's leaving at the end of next year anyway I suppose....but there is just no way in hell he's not worth way more than a one top 10 pick. Again IF this is all accurate does that put us back in the bracket to land Gaff?

Tom Bugg gone
Thanks Tom, Im not sure the club gave you quite the protection you needed after the Mills incident. But he was always a heart and soul player. Crap shot at goal lol...but a heart and souler.

What a load of absolute codswallop! denham simply guessing and people quoting Denhams " information" . Sheesh we live in a strange age. Plus there is no way in hell that, even if Denham was right ( which I highly doubt) that we would agree to trade him for ONE first round draft pick. Stupid frikn story. My head hurts.

Maybe preuss wants to be a part of a one two combo. Maybe he sees this as the most successful pathway and doesn’t want to be a lone hand.

David King thinks Eagles will Belt Us.
He was right when he said Meeks had “ lost” the team in his first pre season and he was tight about last night. Two of his bigger calls about us. Respect where it’s due... no matter what we feel about it.

Martin Flanagan's Ode to the MFC
I loved what Bob Murphy wrote in his recent article that sometimes, like the 2016 doggies and the 2018 dees, " a team can heal a whole club" I think we're in the middle of that process. 2 games to complete it!

Who do we realistically target for a trade?
Why would any club keep scully over Kelly? Scully is gone. I hear he has an ongoing, high inflamed wallet injury and would be a liability to any club that picks him though.

Exactly my thinking. Surely with Lever back there isnt a need for a another tall? Combined with the problem we may have at the other end next year with Weid, Tmac and Hogan , talls really seem like the least of our problems. Or only a problem because we have too many! However the fact we've met with him signifies thats not what the FD dept thinks and I agree with you that I also trust our FD more than I ever have. So... Im baffled. Im also baffled by why Preuss wants to come to us in terms of the role he might play. The only sense I can make of any of this is if they know something about off season player movements within our club. Eg A Hogan or a Frost or a Weid or all three changing clubs. But I just cant see a mass , or even a mini, exodus from our club atm...why would anyone leave right now? To be honest I enjoy being baffled...reminds me of how little I understand about the way the FD is thinking.

Andrew Gaff
Seems, sadly, like pro dee has the best info here. Have we actually landed a quality free agent ..like ever? Seems like every year its Essendon, Geelong, Hawks. Ok Port tried their hand unsuccessfully. And now North are having a real go. When we were crap and had money we couldnt attract as we were, well, crap. I remember that huge offer to dangerfield that fell through. Ironically enough becuase Roos wanted to hang on to Watts. But I dont think Danger was choosing us anyway. Now we're not crap we cant land any because we cant pay or be flexible enough in our thinking re positions. How do the hawks do it every frikn year? I know some were upset about what we paid for Lever....but I always thought that was a decent trade. Its gotten even better now, given where we are finishing. I think we trade well. But acquiring quality free agents has never been something we've been able to do. We're building a team the more traditional way....lets hope it can pay the ultinate dividend.
