  1. Im interstate and no vision available. But....considering how "terrible" everyone was saying we were we kicked the last 5 . What did we start doing different??
  2. Its true that there is a real case for each option rjay. Its def not clear cut is it. Its just my instinct is that we go for talent NOW....and roll the dice on the risks. Id rather that risk than stay in the middle , keep getting good draft pics, and run the risk of losing stars wanting premiership action. Theres no risk free way to the top...and, as the saying goes, fortune has a way of favouring the brave,
  3. they were SUCH horrible years. Ive often wondered if Prendergast really was the magnitude of the stupid F@ck he looks like or he had some other stupd F@ck telling him to pick a certain type of player ie someone higher up and more stupid absolutely misread the way the game was going. in other words did he plot to kill the club alone or was there a group of them? Anyway...no point dwelling on the past. We're sooo close to living in happy times,
  4. You're presuming, if this happened that we dont land any gems with late pics. Given our ( ahem) impeccable record with high draft picks in past years I see the sense in trying to bring in established talent and hoping for some quality late. eg Nibbler, Oscar, Frost. Even This year we brought in Hannan ...with Weid still coming and Keilty and Maynard. A good list with ingrained attitudes and leadership and quality coaching can bring on low draft picks far more easily.
  5. Always value what you offer chook. I'll look forward to it.
  6. Feels good to have something to look forward to after the round 23 debacle. Looking forward to seeing Keilty and Weids and maynard in particular.
  7. I know we're getting belted but how are weid and Brayshaw playing?
  8. I reckon we throw the sink at crippling expectations . Im sure if we bring him in then everything will take care of itself.
  9. From a purely marketing pov it would be a MASSIVE win for the footy club to play the pies round 1. Hope it happens.
  10. Its a relief to be thinking about something other than last Saturday! Something to look forward to amidst the wreckage. Hope the players show up and support. Aside from just wanting to win I reckon the finals series and the spotlight that comes with that will be super important for a few players. Bugg will have something to prove , Spencer is going to want to show his wares. Would love to see Weid really step up, Trenners show the footy world he's still got something and I havent got to see Keilty yet, which Im looking forward to. Drunkn I know you're pretty connected here but Im curious about your thoughts re Keilty. From the reports Ive been reading, seems like he's developing fast now and into a top intercept backman. If we did manage to pull off the lever trade, thats obviously the position lever plays, so what other positions could he play? I like to pick sides in my head over the summer lol
  11. I reckon we're the only club whose supporters regularily get potted by the press...and now by ourselves. Personally I dont know any " cheese platter" members. The ones I know deeply care. imo we're a passionate, burned and hardened lot caused by the many on and off field heartbreaks. Of all the clubs once someone signs on we lose the least. Nothing cheese platter in that. we're a committed bunch...THE most committed in the league. So, Quit bagging supporter types or lecturing on how we need to be as a supporter. We need ALL our frikn supporters. EVERY KIND and type and charecter is welcome in my book. Collingwood has hard core members but also plenty of softer corporate types but they all buy memberships and make the club strong. We have to take care of each other here because the press shits on us as supporters at every opp. We're ALL hurting atm...lets try not to turn on each other.
  12. too early for me Norm......they let something important slip THIS year. Whether thats indicitive of this playing group and how they meet really big moments we're going to find out in the next few years. Im hoping they use this to galvanise. Time will tell.
  13. I have a similar feeling today to the one I had in 87. That after the siren loss in a prelim took me quite a few weeks to be feeling myself again. Then as now, I had to stand back and appreciate actually how far the team had actually come. My hope is that, similar to 87 where the players went into the off season hurting and focused, that they use the pain to step everything up a notch and bring in a period of sustained success. If this doesn't burn nothing will.
  14. which is why coming out and being blown away in the intensity stakes in the first qtr ( 8 tackles v 14) really needs to be looked at. Goody would have hated that. They needed to come out breathing fire in a game like that and I reckon, behind the scenes, here will be some real questions asked.
  15. I know people are emotional after that...but jeez theres some garbage being written tonight.
  16. Personally Im as nervous as I have been all year....flown down from interstate for this.
  17. Im with you. id be amazed if there were less than 50. Im going with 55.
  18. He was a great in a great era when we got sooo close. Still pains me to think about those misses. From ( albeit faded) memory, in the last home and away game the year he left us...Northey benched him for most of the last qtr and put him on again with 3 mins to play where he promptly did his hamstring and quit the club right before the finals. We didnt handle his exit well...he was a brownlow medallist and a real gun.
  19. Anyone know any comparisons to other clubs? Its not a figure that means much to me on its own.
  20. He so almost made it. Played a few great games down back for us and teased as a forward. Feel like he gave it all he had....and, as previously noted, kicked one outrageously good goal in the final minute to win a critical game for the hawks. Sad way to end. Good luck Fitzy.
  21. Im sure they wouldnt be risking Jesses long term future here. Have to trust the club on this and that they have his longevity as a player in mind
