  1. Re the " didnt return to the ground"accusation, it was at the 18 minute mark of the last quarter ffs. Meaning he spent 10 mins ( unconcussed) off the ground. There's decent grounds to argue right there. Glad this club has grown some teeth again.
  2. Yeah, I probably was being harsh. But they went very public with the Yarra park idea and it was obviously half cooked at best. my understanding is that pert was pushed to the head of the queue , partly because it was believed he could get these kind of things across the line. He went public and it flopped. Thatā€™s got to b a fail. Bottom line I feel the urgency to start this project while the club finally has a bit of currency again ....and heā€™s the dude holding the reins. Imo yarra park just wasnā€™t a great start. But, Iā€™m one of the ones who thought ( prior to the Geelong game) that weid wouldnā€™t make it too.... so I will pray to be as wrong in this area as I was in that one.
  3. Weā€™re walking a tightrope here. Once this team heads into its inevitable decline ...hopefully not for a few years yet tho... our good players will leave to clubs in the window. with crap facilities we will not be able to attract players to replace them. This period , now, is when we HAVE to make something happen or we will b royally screwed. No one has come out and said it yet, but fair to say we can Mark pert down for his first fail.
  4. THE worst decision Ive seen at any level for years.
  5. Yep agreed re going wide in the last 2 mins. Fumbles and dropped marks st critical points in those last few minutes also. . Also having no one inside 50 and giving them a spare down there didnā€™t help. Itā€™s hard to watch the woman sometime... we miss Daisy badly.
  6. Anyone know what the frees for and against were in the last? Glad that wasnā€™t the menā€™s team or Iā€™d have a frikn meltdown
  7. One of the most lopsided umpiring quarters I can remember. Frustrating! King gifted at least 2 of her goals and her free in the last was an absolute sham.
  8. Nothing even comes close to 87. Going into that game I was ( we all were) on a high after the elation of the previous 8 weeks. Culminating in absolutely smacking the Roos and then the swans in finals. And I do mean smacking. 100 plus v north and was it 80 v swans? I felt that even if we lost nothing could take away the good feeling. Well I just got that so wrong and it translated into what was a real grief process for a good few weeks. Never felt worse after a loss... or for as long. Forget Stynes... I Can still see yeats and Eisholds last minute simple misses when I close my eyes.
  9. I believe it was a trial for doing this in the mens game. It looked terrible this year for the woman buut mainly as new teams came in that were powerful straight away and made grading difficult. Gil, for all his faults would like to make the draw more equitable in the mens game. Im behind that. if conferences is the way to get there then so be it.
  10. Look, its always great to get a new sponsor. But, a one year deal is a bit of a show of lack of faith imo. The roundabout of sponsors continues as does a lack of a viable home base. Cant get excited about this.
  11. Probably true. But seems like this available technology has pushed ā€œ fameā€ or getting likes on Facebook or twitter ahead of any kind of moral code.
  12. So... it really was a pipe dream? My feeling is both Pert and Bartlett ( who appointed him) have a lot on the line here.
  13. I like that idea. Offer a paid contribution to the club ( as it is now) or just tick the box to be a member. Maybe offer some benefits with MCC/MFC membership to increase their involvement and willingness to pay next time. Try to draw them in. Any loss, as you point out, will be offset by all the other benefits of membership growth.
  14. Joint member fr 20 plus years also. Iā€™m happy to ā€œ donateā€ my membership fees and I also donate at other times as well. I pay WAY more than even a mid tier membership to the club. But it seems many dont share the sentiment or maybe just donā€™t care enough about football in general to do so. They need to come up with something that the membership gets them to give it a practical purpose. Perhaps in the possible future of a social club at Yarra park it gets them membership? Anything really.
  15. Well thereā€™s little danger of us being Collingwood, Richmond or hawthorn atm. But, unlike Pert, Iā€™d love us to be like any of them lol. They all have recently won flags and have massive, and growing supporter bases.... and kick [censored] facilities. One can hope

Omg. We donā€™t soccer to challenge AFL as the big threat. We will kill the game all by ourselves.
  17. Anyone know where training might be/ times next monday? coming from interstate and a super rare chance to get there.

Heā€™s better than that imo. We just have freakish ability in Oliver, viney and Brayshaw at the coal face. Given an ongoing role at stoppages I think Tyson will be a very good player ar North.... but they wonā€™t be top 4.

Funny because as a junior I remember him saying he loved the clutch moments. Not so at this level yet. I do I think heā€™s developing into real quality and had a good year, but he just canā€™t get the space he used to get underage and doesnā€™t have the extreme pace of a martin or a degoey needed to get it. Nor will ever. I also think that it was really drilled into him to lose the big ego he carried into the AFL...earn his place.. team first etc. so I have a sense that finding his strut again on the big stage is probably important to a player like him. My hope is with the younger players coming in underneath him heā€™ll grow into leadership and refind it. May be the difference between being a really good player and potentially great one.

A good result, but without a home base this isnt going to last. Has to be top priority now or we're going to be left behind...again.

Or ...we where just bent over like the MFC often is. We have GOT to stop frikn playing in Darwin. Utter stupidity when we r a chance to be top 4. I can only imagine weā€™ve been forced.

Easy to forget, in the fishbowl of AFL and chasing hard that ever elusive flag, just how human the players are. How much they hurt when things donā€™t go well and the personal difficulties some go through under the microscopic lense of the afl media. Thanks col for all the memories ... loving thoughts to your family

Yep. They increased it by two, but the 4th year is contingent on games played in the other 3. Although, as someone pointed out , if they cant get him up in year 2 heā€™ll just be retired most likely anyway... so risk isnā€™t as big as it sounds. Still reckon heā€™ll ā€œmiraculouslyā€ be there round 1 but weā€™ll see. Im concerned about how much power the players have now in general at trade time tbh. Someone needs to be looking after the overall health of the clubs and the equality of the comp. players as individuals or player managers have no such care.
  24. Its one of the intrigues of 2019 for us...especially how he was playing for us at the end of the year. For mine, I play him over Omac. But theres pros and cons in that and I think its going to work itself out over the pre season.
