Agreed its frustrating me too. We didnt just give up 2 first rounders as some here keep saying....we also got a second rounder back. I guess the deal will get accurately judged only in hindsight as the actual players involved make their mark. Personally Im wrapped to bring in this kind of quality...and am struggling with the negativity that took over so many on this site.

lol good point! It strikes me that Olympic park and Punt road are gated and not that accessible. I think The hawks at Waverley had gym memberships available for the public for off training hours for example and Im sure buying a gym membership also bought them a club membership of some kind. Maybe we offer recreational facilities ...AND literacy programs.

We have to try to sell something that is for the public good to get the government involved. Richmond has the multi cultural centre there. My question is What could we offer on that land that would cover that reason...that isnt offered at the pies or the tiges?

Well....We're sharing it with 3 clubs for a start so theres no real club "identity" there and we have to slot in around all the timetables. The offices are all still at the MCG which is a nightmare in terms of practicality , theres no social club and it attracts no supporter base close by. If you want to get any kind of comparison go check out what the pies have built, what adelaide , west coast, Geelong, Fremantle, Richmond ( insert any club) already have! Stkilda not so much but they will also have an amazing set up in a couple of years back at morrabin....we are quiet simply miles behind in this area. I was happy to hear that it was being addressed at board level and will be super happy when / if we finally cross that threshold!!!

Its truly a stunning statistic isnt it. 28 stuffed selection. Max, Nev and Tom are all guns but they were ALL late picks. Amazing ....it really was a cursed episode in the clubs history wasnt it. Complete with the tanking scandal and the deaths of Jimmy, Robbie and Bailey. May we live in happier times in the coming years.

Played through some the really dark times and always spoke with such loyality about the team. On his day was a top player. Im glad we've kept him on in some capacity. All the best for your new chapter Col.

sorry BBB but that is surely one of the dumbest things Ive read on this thread. You have NO idea what would have gone on behind the scenes and the work put in , over probably a couple of years , by many, to get lever to "fall in our laps" . So much negativity about what we paid, that we did it too quickly that Mahoney is a fool and the club doesnt have any balls. FFS...we just signed one of the up and coming guns of the comp and one of the most important signings we've made for YEARS. . If you think that happens all by itself your living in a cloud.

Id be demanding not just 2 first rounders but two top 10 picks....just like we made to get him in the first place! But next year is a long way off and if we're a good team I reckon he'll want to stay.

man...this thread! its like ground hog day. I can see already what 2018 is gonna look like. Everytime we lose...the JW fans are going to chime in with the incompetence of this decision. "Shambolic incompetence ...the club has been set back 5 years" Everytime we have a good win the opposite side is going to say the opposite I hope the wounds heal fast here. I dont know whats the right move to be honest. Its my love for JW vs my respect for THIS football dept ( which is worthy of it) Ive stated my confusion many times. I just hate seeing us all pitted against each other. Only some real success is ever going to sort this out. Heres hoping we get it.

Except that that message should have been IN house not spread to the press pre trade week. We just didnt handle this trade well imo...its not the end of the world and the trading guys have been great over the last few years. But we didnt handle this trade well

I hate to admit it as I have often felt so bruised by his commentary but I think you're right. "scatter gun" WAS accurate, and was Neeld at his worst. His call on the Kelly trade was also fairly accurate....the fact we landed Hunt in that trade couldnt really have been seen.

Bang on. Seems like everyone is full of negativity at the mo. We just landed a big fish. yes we paid 2 x 1st rounders but we got a second rounder back and to me it looks about right.

From all reports Goodwin is an excellent manager of men...so it was hard to believe the previous accounts. I think its a win win now. If he goes we get well compensated hopefully but if he stays he gets where he's at in his career maybe for the first time and we reap teh benefits of that.

Man, reading this thread is making my head ache. We're eating our own here arent we. To summarise. Either 1. we're incompetent fools, messed up how we moved on this and now were gonna get a bag of crisps trade. Watts is unique charecter and a champion about to blossom, loved by all, poorly communicated to...Stabbed in the back by blundering officials who stamped his papers years ago. Or 2./ Watts is soft, trains poorly, no leadership, no top ten finishes. Unfufilled talent, sidetracks the whole club, didnt take his chances. Goodwin marking his territory. The trouble is I agree with each post on both sides as I read them!...hence I have a headache. Almost feels like a relationship break up. "I love you .......but I have to go"

Agreed. From Walker to Burton and probably many more around those two. They force a 21 yr old to declare his intentions 4 weeks out from the finals so they could up an offer to Mcgovern. He takes care of the club with his honesty when he could have easily stayed mum.... and they shame the [censored] out of him, then bag him in the press. Im not saying any club would be happy to lose a quality young player ( we wouldnt either ) but the way they have handled themselves sends out a very reflective message about the club I reckon. No wonder everyone wants to leave!

I hope when he finally lands with us that the club steps up and STRONGLY defends him. Feel like their attack on him is getting quite personal and hope we the balls as a club to stand up proud....and not cop all this shite. Id like to see the crows do this to a player that was leaving for collingwood.

Its a marriage...and an old fashioned one. No back door exits. If I want to complain I write a letter or an email but the only three things that would stop me buying a membership are dementia, poverty or death. Goodwin has had massive wraps on him from coaches and players alike....we really gotta get behind his decisions. Full respect to you Nasher but if Hogan leaves it will be to go back home. Hope your right re all you say around the Watts situation. Re Neal- Bullen...no way. Coming into his own as a really good player and wouldnt want to part with him. Adelaide have a decent deal in front of them already.
