  1. I like it. Weids had to go...no where near ready. Kent seems to have lost his appetite for the contest ( almost threw something at the television in the last quarter last week) and Salem well, he is a loss. Three strong competitors back in.
  2. My reading on that is that the wildcard round is 8 v 9 and 7 v 13 ( 13th being top of the bottom 6)
  3. faaaaark me. My heart goes out to Jesse. Ive been a cancer survivor and have some idea of the journey ahead for him But, on a less heart felt and selfish note note.....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .... this club is surely cursed. We shouldnt be allowed to have top ten picks because they all get ill in some new rarely seen way. It might even be dangerous to be picked by us.
  4. I had that same feeling. I never like losing but the sense of despair I had after that game was the deepest Ive ever had.
  5. I always thought he was treated a bit harshly tbh. I wasnt aware about the hotel in prahran the night of THAT game....but agree he was no leader of men. Unfortuately we had none of those at that time.
  6. Beamer was sick that day and should never have played. Apparantly was lying on a massage table hardly able to breath after half time. He didnt pull out because of how it might have looked I think...but he should have. Gawd am I glad those days are over. Everything we did back then reeked in some way or other. Neeld was the final nail in the coffin...almost destroyed the club.
  7. As much as I hate to say it....I think Gus has got to leave the game. Or at the least just finish for the year. A terrible shame for him and the club. My god we've had terrible luck with high draft picks.
  8. Plenty of doubt in mine. North has had a season a LOT like ours. Losing games they should have won. North and the Dees really have a the strongest cases to say we ought t be up in the top 4. Theyre a good side make no mistake with TWO excellent ruckman. Beating them will be a good win not just doing what we should do. But its true that, given our up and down past, its a win we really need to start getting the respect we deserve. Win again next week and it starts to be culture defining.
  9. I think thats probably right....but who goes out? A tall ( given our ruck situation I doubt it) or a small. Bugg? ANB? JKH?
  10. True but most players dont want to see their old club get shafted either AND most clubs realise what goes around comes around in this area. The cats traded for Dangerfield...thats probably the model that will get played out I reckon.
  11. big call. I felt almost sad reading it. Brayshaw can still be massive for the dees...I havent given up yet.
  12. Excellent company! But it did pain me a little to see that Sloane and Wines should have been Dees as well. Anyway I guess its a futile argument because we get one of them then maybe we dont finish in the same ladder positions to get the others. Also, it just mght be that Oliver is the best of them all. I thought he was brilliant as a first year player last year but I didnt expect the jump in quality he's showing this year.
  13. I think he looks like he can take a mark. Yes he's getting pushed aside at the moment but he may improve with size. Its the lack of intensity after the contest that's worrying me. Maybe that improves too....hope so. But I question if he's going to be too one dimensional.
  14. Good comment. I havent made my mind up yet either but gut instinct is saying he could well be a bust. Hope to be wrong.
  15. He's going to need to compete when the ball hits the deck. Im not sure how you judge this in a ruckman but Im hoping he can nullify clear hit outs most of the time, and then bring pressure into the stoppages win or lose in the ruck.
  16. yeah I saw that too. He was becoming important. We've really been smashed havent we.
  17. Hogan is developing into an awesome talent. He's going through a lot personally at the moment and thats got to be making an impact. If his body holds up his time will come. But Joe Daniher is a bit of a freak...huge kick, fast and massive mark. Seems almost unstoppable on his day. Being unbiased I think JD is going to be a superstar, I hope Jesse is in the same bracket.
  18. hope your right....he looked awesome against the pies and that was in the wet. And we dont have a ruckman to drop back on him.
  19. Agree, and think he is developing into something special. Not sure how great the cost but surely the club would be at least looking at it. If so we definitely have the inside running. One thing about the dees since Roos we're almost never listed as being interested in anyone...tight ship these days and its how I like it. Let the Roos be interested in everyone and be laughed at when they get no one.
  20. Great post. Agree with most of what you said....but, and its really our achilles heel, we have no fan friendly, fully identifiable, training base. Cant see us emerging as a genuine force on and off the field until we do.
  21. spencers done his knee AND his shoulder....and Viney and Petracca listed as knee injuries. Real wrist slashing stuff.
  22. How critical has losing Lewis for the last three weeks been. Unbelievable whats happened. THree games he probably would have helped us win. Injuries are killing us this year. Footy gods not smiling at us.
  23. Pedo is no ones idea of a first ruck but he's going to be the one
  24. how Fu@ked up is that Gawn and Spencer are both injured.
