  1. I think we tend to forget that Don is still young and has played just 51 games.....He was injured for quite a bit last year Vs GWS 17 possessions 2 Goal assists 11 Pressure acts 2 Clangers
  2. Bloody Hell The kid is in his second year and all the "experts" are getting the knives out....He is not a 26 year old with 150 games experience He is a 20 year old who has played ONE season and has a lot of expectation on his shoulders. The record books will show that he kicked 3 goals in a win for the club. How when and why will not even be remembered.
  3. Whinge....Whinge....Whinge. Have you blokes ever umpired??? This game is very difficult to umpire....I did it for a season, umpiring under 17's....My main job was to dodge the cans getting thrown at me. No umpire hates any team....Yes they make mistakes but have no benefit of slow mo replays etc etc You just have to cop the good with the bad and suck it up.
  4. It wouldn't be Demonland unless we call for players to be dropped after a win......Some players played really well....Some didn't....How about we just bask in the win and be happy for a change.
  5. Jesus mate........Do you like any of our players........Dunn.....Kent......Not all players can be best on ground every week....Do you actually watch the game or understand it? did you see Jessie Hogan's first three quarters....yet no mention of his 5 possessions? How about you take a chill pill and just enjoy the win without bagging players.
  6. Well he has played 161 games and kicked 96 goals and played all 22 games last year.......It must say a lot about our club then if he has only played ONE good season in that time. At his age you would expect him to be passed by young up and comers. Has played 61 games straight since rd 6 2013. and still managed a top ten finish in the Best and fairest. His man seldom kicks a bag on him and I feel a lot better if he is in the side ie reliable.
  7. His wife is American and he has stated that he wants to spend time with her and her family and will be o/s a lot of the time. But who knows, at this stage he is our coach. The future will take care of itself.
  8. 2015 5th in disposals 4th in kicks 5th in uncontested possession 3rd in intercept marks Dunn has been a reliable defender for the past 10 years....It may be true that time is catching up with him but to degrade him is a bit rich.
  9. I'm not sure about both of them to be honest I now trust the footy club so we will see how they go. I really hope they play well and justify the faith that has been put in them
  10. Why ?........A lot less pressure on the lad than the MCG....
  11. Just watched the 1st half of the 1973 Grand Final on Fox Footy.....Carlton vs Richmond........Wow The game has changed so much. The skills were deplorable......They had the centre "Diamond"......One field umpire........All kicks from kick outs were torps Everyone just kicked to packs in the centre corridor.....15 metre penalties.......Passionate Goal Umpires........Hardly any handballs. The commentators were great....Just called the action...Got the names rights and no in depth about what should have happened....No special comments. I grew up playing and watching, and thought that VFL footy was fantastic, but looking back, the modern game with the skills beats the hell out of it. It was interesting watching Walls, Nichols, Percy Jones vs Clay, Bourke, Hunt, Balme. P.S. Didn't want to start a new thread, so put it here.
  12. I know it's my rusted on MFCSS......but I just can't see us winning this game I have seen all this optimism before and been left devastated....I know that the club has improved but I can't trust the MFC to actually complete the deal. All I ask is that posters don't delist/bag/write off players if they don't perform as expected. I hope against hope that I am wrong.
  13. When will the AFL and it's clubs realise that we aren't Americans............We don't need to be entertained every minute of a trip to the footy. If I want to listen to a entertainer I will go to a concert........If I want to sing I will go to a karioki bar or have a shower and sing my heart out. I hate being yelled at, at the footy with loud adds and latest odds I can tell the score by just looking at the score board, don't need to be told at the breaks ...I like to read the Record and talk to my family before a game or even better watch the seconds and try to pick out our next big player. In a few years I wouldn't be surprised if we all have to stand for the American National anthem. The football is all the entertainment I need.
  14. This has to be the biggest storm in a tea cup I think I have read
  15. Not having a go but it seems to me that every miss kick Grimes does is highlighted by many on here. When any other player miss kicks not a word is said on here except Garland who seems to be another whipping boy. When either of these two does something good or places a kick onto the chest of a teammate nothing is said but if Salem or Olivier do it, Demondland turns to rapture..
  16. We haven't been good enough to win ANYWHERE Sir We play in Perth S.A, Queensland and Tassie. $1 Million into the club coffers over two years helps a lot more than 20,000 at the MCG playing the dockers or Port.
  17. Geez SWYL........No need to get a bee in your bonnet....Stuie has a fair point....We need to encourage members and not price families out. If the NT deal is of benefit to the club and keeps us solvent then I trust the club to do the right thing. These are hard times for a lot of people and club membership is a luxuary for some, whilst you and I can probably afford the extra, many cannot. No need for petty insults to a poster who has a different opinion or stance to you.
  18. I get it now........Jack Grimes has now taken over from Jack Watts as the new Demonland Whipping boy Well played.....Carry on....
  19. Gee, you're a bit tough on him Adam......Kicked three goals in his last match.....I think he is in the mix along with ABN and Streach but I think he is a bit tougher than them. just my opinion. At the moment.
  20. It's funny how the football purists attack when anything is different. I don't care what his run up looks like as long as he kicks 'em His last three paces are pretty smooth and last years 44.19 is much better average that most goal kickers. His miskicks affect his distance not his accuracy that I have observed.
  21. I think it is very hard to judge coaches from different era's Checker coached when the game was a kick and mark game, in a time where place kicks, drop kicks' stab passes and torps were all the go. It was a game that part time footballers player on the weekend for a bit of fun and most players had full time jobs. It was a time when if you coped a knock and had concussion you just got up and kept playing. The game was stop/start and kick it to the pack. He was the only coach and had no assistants. Compare it to todays micro managed professional footballers of today where speed and skill are mandatory, The whole week is devoted to football, medical tests are just about a daily occurrence, skin folds are measured, players are rested if work loads indicate and there are coaches for every line, there are kicking coaches, ruck coaches, movement coaches. The head coach needs to manage all this stuff and keep it all together and then face the every hungry media twice a week. I have captain/coached my own sides with some success and you need to be sometimes tough, sometimes a best friend, sometimes a plick, some times a father figure. The only thing you are judged on is WINS.
  22. I like it too.......But not for $500 bucks My car isn't worth that.
  23. Didn't play in the first half.......Will play the 2nd half
  24. I still think Parish will be a very good footballer and will follow his career with interest. I look forward to seeing how both boys turn out in the next few years.
