Cryptic Message on MFC Social Media - New MFC Logo
Bossdog replied to Good Times Grimes's topic in Melbourne Demons
I might be the only one here but......Has someone transported me back to the fifties? It looks like what I had on my duffle coat so many years ago. It looks like crap and I was quite happy with the shield one -
What about Cat Stevens at Festival Hall...........I actually tried to look like him....long hair, beard, but didn't have the voice (Dam it) and the hair has long since departed.
-
I knew you wouldn't be able to help yourself SWYL........LOL
-
Geeus Bub........Have you never stood on beer cans in the outer at Victoria Park?....or.....Stood out in the rain behind the goals at Kardinia Park? ...or stood by the rail line at Glenferrie oval? A good crowd at Etihad has a good atmosphere , close rail line, plenty of pubs, restaurants to drown your sorrows after the game, It is a ground that never gets rained on. Give it a try (We actually one a game there this year)

Keith "Bluey" Truscott at the Australian War Memorial

Bloody Germans.........It's all their fault.. -
Can't wait for the dL response ....If we take Parish and miss out on Curnow.....Parish is a bust and Curnow turns out to be a star We pass on Parish and he stars and Curnow who we pick, turns out to be a dud. What I am trying to say, is that the draft is a complete lottery. I don't care who we pick....I just hope that whoever we pick turns out to be half way decent. It's the best we can hope for.
-
Fully agree "nut"......If I put up my "Highlights" reel on Youtube, I would have all clubs chasing me.....If they saw me play in the flesh....Well maybe pick #1001 I never watch the reels for this reason.

This is the way of the world these days SWYL........Players are only loyal while they have a contract. All clubs and players will do what is right for them.....It's a me me me me world these days. I don't blame them....It's just the way it is.
-
Wow.......If Howey was not at the end of his contract, no one would be say squat about him. He has gone from a good player to a spud, hack, ect and people want to swap him for a pick 26 or what ever on a untried kid. He is now (according to demonland) not intelligent, lazy, no loyalty, one trick pony that we should have got rid of years ago. He has played 44 out of 44 games in the past two seasons he averages 14 possessions a game (playing forward and back) 5 marks 3 tackles .5 goals I will concede that he is going but I for one think this is a mistake. Does he make mistakes.....Yes but so does Bernie Vince, Jones, Jeffy Garlett, and god forbid Hogan. and we want to spend a fortune on some Essendon midfielder. I think I will give Demonland a miss for a few months and wait until the stupid season is finished. It wont stop the knockers but it may preserve my sanity.

Geez....I get so sick of posters saying Howe is a one trick pony......Check his stats before you just join the groupthink. The football dept must disagree, as he hasn't been dropped through form or injury for two bloody years. Is he the greatest thing since sliced bread?.....No...... but I would back him rather than an 18 year old draftee
-
So by your reasoning we should trade Gartlett (some terrible misses for goal) and some bad fumbles. All of our players made mistakes through the year and if we got rid of them we wouldn't have a side. The only reason for the hate on here is that he was testing the market as all players do when their contract runs out. I thought Howe took some great contested marks in both the forward line and down back not "species" but strong marks in packs I also thought that he wasn't the worst player that played this year and the footy dept must have agreed as he has played every game for the past two years when others have been dropped or overlooked. I hope he stays. The grass isn't always greener.
-
Bloody Hell.......People whining about umpires.... They have been doing this since the game began and the two captains were umpires.. This game is so hard to umpire with all the rule changes and interpretations. They don't have the benefit of replays or slow motion. Yes they make mistakes but less than the players do in a match. I wonder how many on here have actually umpired a game or two....I have (Junior level) and been abused and called a cheat when I had no preference for either side. Without them you don't have a game.
-
Wow...Great conspiracy. I didn't realise the AFL controlled all results via umpiring. Umpires make mistakes as do the players. Always will because they are human. Get over it.
-
Please......Can we all stop whineing about Hawthorn. They are a great club and use trading and free agency very well to build a winning side. Buddy went via free agency and they did not miss a beat. People whined about Brisbane a few years ago, saying they were unbeatable and would win flags for ten years. Didn't happen. Instead of hating them I admire them, a very good CLUB, both on and off the field. And good on James Frawley, played a very solid game on one of the best forward in the game and I hope he does really well next week. If you gotta hate then go ahead I don't think he will give a stuff.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Bossdog replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
I still don't get why posters take a reported payment to a player as gospel.... As I have stated before only the player, his manager and the club KNOW how much a player gets. The media guess and some how it becomes a fact. As Roosy said "Don't believe all the media hype"....How about we just wait til trade week is over and then sh it can the club after we know who's doing what. -
Gee Steve.......So if I disagree with you......I post embarrassing posts???? You are so prejudiced you can't even admit that he played well last night in a very good side that won a flag last year.....He has played most games for them only, missing through injury. I doubt that the Hawthorn Footy club agree with you. They must see the games differently to you I thought he played very well and I wish him all the luck in the world.
-
All played in a grand final........Can't have been too cosy.......I don't remember them putting in short steps when it was their turn
-
Didn't James Hird have a similar injury? He seemed to play some terrific footy when he recovered. I know he is not liked on here but gee he was a great footballer.
-
I think Gus is a really good player....I hope the club is aware of the 2nd year blues Many a young bloke bust on the AFL scene only to not get to the standard of their first year. Not trying to be negative. Maybe we should temper our expectations till he has put 50 games under his belt.
-
If the footy club doesn't rate him.....Why has he played every game for the past 2 years??....Back and forward Would you trade a 100 game player for a draft pick in the 20's? If he wasn't in talks about his contract would all this crap about how bad he is be taking place? No we would be talking about how he could improve. Could someone tell me how many goals his opponents got when playing on him(Real Question) Carlton got rid of their iffy players....Betts...Garlett....Waite.....And that is going so well isn't it?
-
Just a sports writers opinion.....(He just happens to barrack for the Dees)Has no more weight than posters on here.
-
Please...Did you see McKenzie's year this year??? I know who I'd rather playing for us next year.
-
Well...I for one hope he stays I love the marks he takes....It's one of the reasons I watch. I love the goals he kicks from the boundary line. I realise that he is not the greatest player in the world but neither is half our list. He is a swing player that can go forward or back and have an impact. He is 25 years of age and played 100 games and played every game this year.(Second year running) The only reason posters have their noses out of joint is because of the stalling of the contract talks, to which he is entitled to get the best deal he can, as would all of us I have not got this years stats at hand but last year he was 2nd rebound 50's 1st in contested marks 2nd in marks (general) 1st in short kicks 5th in kicks (general) 6th in the B&F and played every game. Let's face it....we are not going to get a Dangerfield, but I don't want a pimple faced 18 year old to replace him. I don't care if that is pick 1 or 98.

Ever since Jack came to Melbourne as No1 pick there has been so..so...so many Jack Watts threads that it's not funny Some love him.....Some hate him....... Every thread has the same arguments for both sides. I like Jack and I want him to be the footballer that I think he can be. But I now believe in the footy dept that we have now.....So I will leave it up to them. I don't think I have seen such a malinened player in all my years of supporting this club.

I think it was Norm Smith who told Bernie Massey that he would not play another game for Melbourne if he didn't shave off his beard in 1964
