  1. Having played for a club for 10 years and over 150 games? Why does that not qualify you for a life membership? Who then should qualify? How can you tell who, are club men and who are not.? Is it just the vibe? or because they left due to free agency? Just wondering.
  2. Col Sylvia played 157 games and kicked 129 goals for the Melbourne Football Club in probably the worst period for the footy club. (Tanking..Lack of money....Poor admin....Poor team) It is interesting that so many people love to stick the boots in to a player that did not meet their expectations. He also gave 10 years service. People say he was a party boy, lazy, injured, not up to it. It takes all types to make up a footy team or else we should just use robots. It is so easy to sit in the stands or watch on TV and think we are so much better. (usually after a few beers) So.....I say well done Col on your life membership and you are always welcome at the footy club
  3. I would prefer Howe to Melksham. It will be interesting to see how they both go at their new clubs..
  4. Thank God.....Or whoever you believe in.
  5. In this day of HD TV....manicured grounds where it wet but there is no mud......horrendous clash strips adopted by some clubs which have no relevance to traditional club colours. I still can't see the need for clash strips. I know clubs do it for extra merchandise sales but I would refuse to buy stuff that is not our traditional colours.
  6. You're right C&B......This is why I don't invest much into favourite players these days.....I was devastated when Woey went to Coll'wood But the AFL in their wisdom seem to want to do every thing American, we now have free agency but it seems players can't wait for the 8 years and go to which ever team they want to and get to that team no matter what service they have given to the team that drafted them. I cringe a bit when d'landers go on about a player we have stolen from another club but hate the player who has left our club for the same reasons
  7. Threats to kill is a very serious offence punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment. If he had done it, it would be murder.
  8. I was not having a go at you H_T. All the preventative measures should be implemented but usually it is spur of the moment. Do I don't I... oops too late
  9. But would have happened if he had not intervened? H_T If he had just said "nothing to do with me" A young Solicitor gave his life for trying to support a woman being bashed in the middle of the city on a workday. Sometimes you just have to do the right thing regardless. Sorry, feel strongly about the "See nothing. Do nothing" members of our society.
  10. Oh please......After 30 years in the Police Force....Yes I can look after myself.......but at my age keyboard strokes are all I have left If everybody just minds their own business this type of behaviour will continue.....Someone has to step up and in this case it was a woman....I don't think she is gloating about it and I think that it took a lot of guts to do what she did. She could of taken this a whole lot further if she wanted too and had him charged but it appears that the apology was sufficient. Sometimes you just have to do the right thing.
  11. Wow.......Maybe we should all just mind our own business and never become involved......Just close our eyes and pretend it didn't happen. I would hate to be in trouble and have to rely on you for help. .What a pathetic response.
  12. Many years ago Police would attend domestics......They would separate the two combatants....give them a good talking to and unless blood was flowing leave the adults to work it out.....There was no follow up. These were how most domestics were handled. Since then, Police are now obliged to take out an intervention order for all domestics attended weather assault related or not and as a result the reports have gone through the roof. The courts have a special court room to settle all domestic violence and are still backed up for six months. So if you had an argument with your wife and police attended they have to apply for an intervention order, even if you have made up with said wife and every thing is rosy again. I don't have the solution to this problem nor do I condone violence.....It just explains why the issue is so much more in the public eye. As for Police taking no action......Well, first you have a complainant or you case will not proceed. Don't blame the Police ....Blame the legal system
  13. Good thought out post. I just wonder if supporters go to the games just waiting for their pet hate players to make a mistake? You point out one example in one minute of a game and jump on it to highlight your point. How do you know what he was thinking "He deliberately ran past the ball" I just watched the Richmond game and Watts went for a mark and the ball slipped through his fingers, (It was pizzing down)Wayne Carey and the commentators had a real go at him yet 2 minutes later Daniel Cross did the same and nothing said. Later in the game Garland did the same and the only comment from Bruce was "Gee it's slippery out there" I have seen Bernie Vince, Dom Tyson, Nath Jones make horrible mistakes, yet nothing is said. Also Grimes has played quite a few good games this year yet nothing is said until he makes a mistake then all hell breaks loose on this site. He is one of our best rebounders out of defensive 50 and whilst his kicking is sometimes questionable I would have him in the side. I agree that as their contracts are up at the end of the year, the pressure is on them to perform as asked by the coaching panel.
  14. He had had injuries.........So a player can't build a tank over a pre season???? How about we give him a chance and see how he goes?
  15. I don't normally read this thread because it bores me stupid But......Please don't tell me that clubs won't deal with Essendon because of the appeal........That's just plain silly. Since when does it become the "Principal". That's like saying "It's the Vibe"
  16. Just wondering if we can have a "Go to 1st unread post" button.........Thanks
  17. Griffiths.....????
  18. Scully vs Tapscot Parish vs Oliver Please let this be over soon so I can start telling the club off for choosing the wrong one
  19. "Well son......We are trying to build a TEAM.....We want another big man up forward but we will do what is best for the team and the club and if that's another midfielder, well suck it up and play the best you can . You have played 20 games.....We know what we are doing." Please don't tell me we will kowtow to a bloke who has played just 20 games....No matter how good he is.
  20. Beware the 2nd year blues
  21. I think Dom Tyson will have a great year this year......Over all the niggling injuries and on track for a better year than '14..'15
  22. Though out history....Man has needed Gods to try and see reasons behind the crops failing, the floods that ruined their towns, the droughts that left their families dying. They thought that if they could please their gods their could live a full life. It seems that nothing has changed since those faraway days. The world is so advanced these days with so many great inventions and innovations but we still fight about who's god is the greatest. If there is a god, he must be very disappointed in the human race.
  23. Why would he come back here after all the crap he gets for his training reports
  24. My only confession......I bought Herman's Hermits records....
