    I know this is a footy forum but we should take a minute to remember our fallen My Dad flew with the RAF and RAAF during the second world war. He was awarded the DFC for downing 3 German Bombers over the night skies over London. It is days like this that I remember him most, even if he did barrack for Geelong. Rest in Peace Dad Lest we Forget.

    Why isn't he? I would rather save the rapturous applause for when he actually plays. Played very well in 1 and a 1/2 games in the VFL so has Mitchie ANB and several others. I just hope you are right but I will wait until 1/ He is selected 2/ Plays some games in the seniors before I start lauding him as some others have

    Just wondering if I have missed something.........Has Petracca suddenly played 100 games and is Brownlow favourite whilst I wasn't looking. I really like the kid but he hasn't played a bloody game yet. The way some posters around here are pumping up his tyres is just mind boggling. It reminds me of a certain No1 draft pick we got a few years ago. Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to when he does play but until then he is just another draftee that shows great promise.

    Gees.....How about we get through this week first?.........Before we start dropping players for the St Kilda games.........You don't know what injuries and form that will come out of Sundays game......Talk about getting ahead of ourselves.

    Port are on the same points as us.......They beat Ess by 61 pts and St Kilda by 33 Had a couple of shockers against Adel (finals contender) by 58 and smashed last week against GWS (Finals contender) by 86. The season is so even. The media go on about how bad Coll Rich and Port are, Wait until they win a couple and they will be world beaters and back in final contention.

    I don't dislike any caller.....I understand that they are "surprised" (for want of a better word) about the way we are playing at the moment. It isn't the way the old Melbourne play. Anthony Hudson also made a few comments that the Dee's were playing great footy and said that the world wasn't used to it. I don't hate Dwayne, at least he calls the play and does not go on and on like some of the special comments guys (Dermie, Jonno, etc) which ignores the ongoing action whilst they dwell on past glories or tell in jokes and have a giggle, meanwhile a goal has been kicked after some great play which remains uncalled. It is his opinion, he is entitled to it. I don't care either way.

    My aunty is 94 years old and still goes to the G every day game (Nights to much for her now) I sell her my MCC guest card and off she goes with a group of friends for a lunch and a few wines before the game......She has been going to watch the dee's for the past 70 years, dragging my family and me along in my youth. I visit her 2 times a month in her retirement village for lunch and the conversation is always about the footy.

    Why anyone would care about what Jorno's predict is just beyond me After all the crap in the media that Coll and Rich have copped If we lose and Rich and Coll win we would be all on the same points and the media will go to the headlines that they are back on track and we are crap again. The media circus changes with each week that goes by. I don't understand why their opinion is so valued. What will be will be.

    Can someone please explain to me WHY St Kilda plays a home game at the G today while Richmond plays a home game at Etihad? on the same day? Why wouldn't the AFL let the clubs play on their own home grounds for their home games???? I'm a bit confused

    Thousands??? Really....because of one game? How many signed on when we beat Geelong last year?? Maybe 50 ? If you expected a consistent season from this side maybe you were wrong. It is terribly disappointing I agree, but there is another 20 games to go

    I just used Geelong as an example.....They had a shock loss as well.......I wasn't going into the history books.....We are on the same wins as them and Hawthorn, Coll, Richmond, west coast, Adelaide etc etc. This is the third week of a 22 game season we are higher than 7 other teams Yes, last week was bad but my point is so were the games of other sides......There are another 9 games this weekend and the media are fired up for more witches to sacrifice.

    What I don't get is that Geelong has a great win over the Hawks and get smashed by GWS.....a team we beat just one week before, a team that many think will be top 8. So what does that say about Geelong? Does it mean that they had a let down? Does that mean they are no good? Just 1 week later? Ess had a big day, with the march to the G, all their past hero's present and hit the ground running. We weren't. We learn and get on with next week. The papers will move on to this weeks losers and put the boot in to whoever does not play well.

    4 Ring ins....The rest were traded for or drafted......So expectation is the thing to be judged for teams now is it? It was very disappointing but hardly the end of the world This season will put up a lot of unexpected results, a lot of upsets as the teams get more even.....The press will be very busy writing teams off each week and the next proclaiming top 4 finishes for the same club 7 days later

    What I don't agree with H_T is we were not the only disappointing team in the last 2 weeks Collingwood gets smashed by Sydney by 80 points and sneak a one point win over rich....No horrible stories in the press Freo a couple of losses by 65 and 26 points....No one cares over here If we are insignificant why do jornos write stories about us......According to the media Hogan was a star in the first round winning the game for us in the last quarter....The next week has a poor game and all of a sudden he doesn't care and should be dropped?????? And poor old Cotchin according to some should be stipped of the Captaincy All this after 2 ROUNDS

    I listened this morning and actually rang SEN (which I never do)but didn't get on. Denham stated that we were lucky to beat GWS Well Geelong weren't so lucky....Collingwood were extremely lucky to beat Richmond in the last 4 secs would otherwise be sitting 0-2 and coping heaps. If Ess get up on the weekend , which I think they will....What will that say about Port. Yes we were terrible last weekend but we are in week 3 of a season. The amount of crap getting said about Hogan and Cotchin this week is incredible and as Hardwick stated "It's over the top" reporting by jorno's who sit behind a desk top and have nothing to prove.

    Yeah I did.......It wasn't good but I also watch us in a debarcle vs Stkilda last year and the next week we beat Geelong at Geelong.......Did our players gain skills through that week? or just a different attitude.?

    Wow....after reading through this thread I think I will just go and slit my wrists now. We are two games into a season.....Some posters are wanting to get rid of Hogan or drop him at least after a couple of off games....Really ? Some saying Roos is the problem? Can't remember him getting a kick or handball....Must go Geelong were world beaters in round 1...........Couldn't back it up over the Suns the next week West Coast the same.......Richmond the same.......Pt. Adelaide looked worse than us but same. Freo can't win a game. If you're 2% off then you will struggle but before we get the knives out in earnest.....How about we wait for a couple weeks and see how it all comes together. We are 1 and 1 in a long season. (Sharp knife put back in drawer)

    Ha Ha Ha Ha I love reading these comments after a loss.....Last week we were champions, headed for the eight. This week we are a VFL side with absolutely no hope Posters calling for coaches to be sacked, posters saying Roos is only a premiership coach because of one mark.....Please...Posters calling for heads to roll at selection (by my last count 15 players should be dropped according to posters). One poster even said he was leaving Demonland and giving up on footy altogether. We are in the 2nd round of a AFL season and whilst disappointed in the loss, there are many things to look forward to. I am the ultra pessimist, I never go to a game thinking we can win but always hope. I promise that the sun will come up in the morning and we will get chances to redeem ourselves P.S. Things could be worse......We could be Fremantle.

    It's pretty hard when the VFL doesn't start for a couple of weeks after the AFL Hard to get game time for the blokes who are left out of the main games....VFL coaches have to try and get their blokes ready for their season. I think it is time to have the reserves back and starting at the same time as the AFL.
