The players and the umps might put on the show but the AFL organise it. Players would not get paid the money that they do with out someone organising the TV rights and many other income. When football was run by the clubs, who has a deligate on the board they had just about ruined the competition by over spending on players, had rich benefactors paying players. The club was more important than the competition. The AFL was set up combat this. The AFL is a multi billion organisation and need the likes of the CEO to run it. You may not like the wages they get but the AFL has grown into an nationwide competition which is played by full time professional footballers. If the AFL were not in operation there would be part time footballers with full time employment elsewhere. Again you may not like it but we would not have a footy side without them and nor would a lot of Victorian clubs.

You're right OD, it is a minor irratation but an irritation just the same. I really liked 2016 model and now we have this years crap one. I won't not pay my membership but still irks me a bit

I don't know why everyone finds the 3km time trials so important??? There is 4 months to go until we play in the fair dinkum stuff. I reckon I could get fairly fit in four months.......Well maybe not but I don't have the age....the personal training....the indivdual training.....5 days a week training....ect ect ect

As usual It's all about money with the AFL and clubs Most clubs bring out a clash jumper every year so supporters will buy the new design. The AFL think that anything that bring money in is a good thing. The only jumper I ever had was the one my mum knitted me back in the sixties which I wore with pride I find the money grab insulting every year. How much are supporters slugged for to buy jumpers? As for the "clash" jumper.. What a load of crap by the AFL.....As I've said before I could tell the difference between teams on a bloody black and white TV.

I remember watching replays in the 60's and 70's....I never ever had trouble dishtinquishing between teams even Melb vs Fitzroy on black and white TV on muddy quagmires. Why do the AFL think that supporters are so dumb now that we can't tell the difference between sides.....How have we become so stupid lately that we need to be led by the hand by the AFL Some times I turn on the footy and it takes a minute or two to see who the side in mainly white is. I know that it is a marketing ploy for people to buy new jumpers each year but please Port Adelaide 8 year old supporter designed their home jumper in a competion and a simple turn around of colours with white for their away jumper..... I wish she was a Melbourne supporter.....We might get a better design

I thought that this years one was pretty good........If we have to wear white, which all clubs have to, I would've stuck with this years.

This is a 19 year old key position forward playing in his first season. He has been blooded with 3 games in his debute year and was not embarassed I know people want him to be a star already but he must be given some time to increase his body weight and endurance. He will, in my opinion, mature to be a really good player for us.......Just give him a bit of time......Please

While I don't pertically like Mathews These king hits were common place in the era that Mathews played He certainly wasn't the only one hitting blokes from behind. Just saying, I remember the VFA Grand final between Port Melb and Dandenong, King hits everywhere and if you had concussion you just got up and played on.

Reported this morning that Max Walker passed away this morning Don't know any details but he represented the MFC as a ruckman

Just beat me to it Clint These kids are 19 years old and have been managed through the year. They will have programs for the summer to build fitness and strenth. They need another two pre seasons and turn into men. Be patient.

Fair Dinkum.......I have never heard so much whinging and wining from posters of this site They have sacked half the team........Made calls on players playing in a bloody Grand Final which they lost by 30 odd points to a very good side all through the year The amount of vitrol for the MFC listed players is embarassing. If they are that bad....Go support someone else The same said posters were adulating the team in our two other finals wins A week is a long time in football. The bulldog played some terrific footy.......We had an off quarter which cost us dearly. See you next year???

I really like the Brownlow count I like how all the TV experts criticise the umps votes because they don't agree with theirs I dislike the interuptions during the count to interview players in contention who are half pizzed and don't know what to say (What can they say?) I like to watch the MFC players poll a few votes.....Sould be a few more for us after a fairly good year Dislike the speed reading by Gil ......A quick smoke outside and I've missed 2 rounds Hate the thousand adds during the telecast.

Pardon my ingnorance I haven't seen anything in the media about his Dad's illness......Is that just a rumour ? or a fact ? His manager , the club, or the player himself do not seem to mention it in all the arggie bargie that going backwards and forwards.

Anyone in the midfield,forward line or half backs who have injuries. You know......Like hamstrings,knees,ect ect ect Much better to have an experienced player who can come in than a untried 18 year old.

Gee....I remember a couple of years ago all the 'experts' of this site were saying that Nev Jetta was a slow,weak, and trade bait.....Things change don't they?. Speed is a funny thing......Hunt has dash and real speed (which we need) The rest of our midfield are not that quick at running but move the ball with speed. Oliver is very smart with his hands as is Tyson but not that quick at running. Posters here are so quick to bag our players, sitting in their easy chair with drink in hand' nit picking at every mistake, say that the grass is greener over the fence,making up trades which have no possibility of happening. When we do have injuries, and we will, we will need the experienced players like Trenners, grimsey and Pedersen to cover instead of a pimply faced 18 year old. I hate trade month.....Will be having a rest from DL for a while.

I think it is the right decision........But query the timing.......At least they know where they stand coming into a final series without the will I / wont I, get another contract
