I don't get it........A d***k head jorno states that a player is asking $650,000 a year How the hell would he know......Last time I looked no one besides the player, his manager and the club would know what ANY player is getting. They all GUESS.......No one knows what Garry Ablett is getting ( they just know that it is a lot).....They all just pick a sum out of their arses and state it as fact.

Gee....I don't believe the negative posts about what might have happened If we played the perfect game the opposition would not have scored at all. It was a good game of footy and mistakes happen in ALL games Gold Coast are a good team and however it happened.....We beat them.....We kicked the goals that we have been screaming for for the past 5 years.....We attacked the ball and the man......We defended well and our midfielders ran and ran What's not good about that Enjoy the win....It wont happen every week

Wow......If you don't get selected in the 1st game you should be traded??? I know some posters have their whipping boys but come on...A lot of good footballers have been dropped in their careers and have come back Most players on our list will play this year, due to injury and form. I hope they all have a good year. It's only the first game in a long long season

For all those with really high expectations for Hogan..... Jono Brown had 1 free kick in his first game and even then his team mate grabbed the ball and played on with the advantage rule and kicked a goal.....He didn't kick his first goal until his fifth game. How about we see how he goes and try not to write him off if he doesn't play that well

It's not the AFL, they have rules in place......It's not Collingwood they too have rules It's the bloody players and sometimes, like all young men and women, completely stuff up It is their responsibility and their fault, not the afl or Coll.

Why do teams crisscross around the ground?.......There is no one there to kick it to up forward Why don't players kick it long to a contest?.....The coaches don't allow them to Why are there so so so many scrums?..............Every player is around the ball Why are backmen so hesitant to kick long.........See all of the above Why are 100 goal full forwards close to extinct..Coaches want an even spread of goal kickers Yes I agree Pt and Haw are playing a better forward type footy.....Lets hope it starts a trend.

I know it's the start of a new season but I'm not sure my apathy is because we have been so bad or the game of footy is just plain boring except for a few highlights Ever since Wallace brought in the Flood which in turn turned footy into a defensive slog in most matches. The Swans vs WC grand finals whilst tough uncompromising affairs took the sparkle and joy of watching a game of footy for me and the trend continued....No coach was game enough to take the game on I used to enjoy watching other teams play and watch replays of most of the games but now I just look at the results.....It seems to me that the coaches are afraid of attacking...Payers are hobbled out of playing their natural game all in the name of defence first... High marking is just about a thing of the past as defenders block the run ups It's like a game of chess which I enjoy playing but it is so boring to watch. I miss games where the score line was 19.15 to 17.13....It is not allowed by coaches these days. Anyway.....Good luck to us this year....I will try not to doze off.

Take out of them what you will.....Clubs and players use them for what they are...Practise matches....as long as Casey and the MFC get out of them what they want, is all that matters.....Every player cannot be BOG....I don't get why people get so excited about them.....We beat Coll a few years ago, when Neeld took over.... didn't get us far...

I agree with most of what you say Macca. Under the old system clubs had U16...U19...Reserves and the Senior side All clubs had Zones, there were 12 clubs and any player from WA,SA Qld,Tas were open slather.(Or open cheque book) I realised early on that under 18's is to young to tell about a player but if you don't pick them up then, well you wont get them at all I believe that the TAC should be U19's......A year makes a lot of difference.....They would have finished school and spent 1 year working or Uni or what ever kids do after they finish school and they would have another year to develop. The system we have now will continue and we will continue to have hits and misses as do ALL clubs.

Just to put it in to perspective Haw lost to Nth and Coll....then had a big win against StKilda who played kids Gold coast beat Geel ...Lost to GWS.....and then drew with the lions and watched a bit of their game last night and the mistakes from both sides were just as bad as ours. Richmond thrashed Pt Adelaide....I don't think you will see that in the season proper. It's NAB Cup.........No one will remember once the season startsl

Footballers then only trained Tues and Thurs.....They had full time jobs The coach was in charge of every thing to do with fitness and only had an assistant if he was lucky The game was a lot slower and players played in position Watson was still at school....and they were allowed to do goal kicking practise without some one telling them that they can't because it will cause muscle overload
