  1. Fair enough. Just surprised that so many on here think he has only been doing it recently
  2. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.
  3. Really think he just needs a rest to freshen up. While he isnt the most damaging player, he sure has been good as that link up player on the wing this year. Sparrow is lucky imo.
  4. His numbers have been good but he has looked absolutely buggered during games recently.
  5. He was drafted at pick number 15. It's not like we plucked him from obscurity and were the only club who would have drafted him. I would argue that if any other club drafted him instead of the dees that he would have had a much better development pathway. He was drafted as a key forward and we had him playing as a hard tagger in the midfield. How many head coaches did he have during that time? The best ones were Danniher who left after 2 years and Roos who stopped playing him in favour of developing OMac. Despite all this he loves the club.
  6. He was playing in that game. I'm going to give him a pass on that one even though it hurt at the time. Wouldn't you allow him to support both clubs?
  7. Thankyou. Great response and paint a great picture of the type of player he is
  8. Earlier you mentioned that you think he will more likely be a second round pick. I assume that as he is pulling big numbers and being named in the best teams whilst being an underager that he would excel further when he is playing agaisnt kids his own age next year. Therefore, I assume that he would be a certainty to be a first rounder. Is this a bit of an over simplification on my part?
  9. I agree with most of this. I like the part about 'initiate contact '. It's a contact sport, contact is going to happen. The Willie Rioli case correctly went against this though so their was already ambiguity. Ultimately, it was a tad late and clumsy and did result in the other player being concussed. It probably should have got a week to keep it consistent with other results. I don't want to see players concussed but I can't see a way of eliminating it from the game without changing it completely.
  10. I'm going to be the odd man out here. I didn't think it warranted a suspension. However, I thought he would be due to the incident causing concussion. I'm not a fan of the result determining the suspension but this is the way the AFL play it these days. I also don't think Nibbler or Chandler should have got such hard suspensions
  11. He won't be a free agent though. We will need to trade for him. What are we going to have to give up? One of our first rounders?
  12. No to both. I'm not a fan of the outcome being decided by the result and not the intent but understand the crackdown on head high injuries. I didn't think there was that much in it when I first saw the Cripps incident. He was contesting. He just got there far too late and braced for impact. 1 week for mine simply for the carelessness and impact.
  13. Fantastic! Next year will be the perfect time for us to draft a young inside mid. Sounds like he could play forward early on. Hoping we trade all future first picks to this year. Might need to bring in some future late picks
  14. Excellent. It's been my opinion all along that we lose the trade as soon as he elects to leave, however we should get decent compensation. It's reassuring to know that JT feels good about it. There will be a number of posters on here who will cry about us 'losing the trade' (which we will. Jackson is a great talent) but will get a few good picks out of it which JT no doubt has lined up as some good kids. Also, Jackson moving will free up the salary we had planned for him. If we can use that cash to get a free agent like Amon then we might come out ahead in the end.
  15. Jesse Hogan playing well today. Still miss that guy.
  16. Mate. You could have posted the opening post of the thread in the post game thread. It would have got a few likes and a few replies and been lost in the rest of the thread. You wanted to start a new thread. You wanted the extra attention that comes with that. You are totally allowed to do that, more power to you. People are going to react to that in different ways. They don't like your opinion. That's their right too. You have said in the opening post that you don't think we can win it. You then said in a reply later that you think we can. Rather than defending your opinion you have agreed with the people disagreeing with you less than an hour later. It's a [censored] thread.
  17. We lose a game we should have won to a team who are going to finish top 4 and you come out with this absolute [censored]. We are one of many teams who can win it. You have given up already? Jesus, I hate this [censored] place after a loss.
  18. Yep. Viney had to play the game though and slam it on the boot. It would have been a wild kick and probably would have landed in a Collingwood players lap. It was more Hibberds free kick than anyone else's. Viney maybe a bit stiff though. There are a few like that each way every game though.
  19. Either we don't lock it in the forward line anymore, or we have been figured out a bit. Games like this make those small forwards like Spargo and Nibbler nearly redundant. People thinking Tom McDonald is the sole missing thing are dreaming. Tmac didn't exactly play that well for the previous 8 months before being injured. While we are missing what he brings, we should be getting more from our forwards. Fritsch is Fritsch. Everyone elses spot is up for grabs next year in the forward line in my opinion.
  20. Unfortunately all of Elliotts free kicks were there in my opinion it was infuriating as we probably should have had a free kick moments before the first one where he pinged Hibberd. Viney needed to put that on the boot as soon as he got it. He had a tiny moment and might have been a little bit stiff but those get paid all the time
  21. 1.The Doggies showed , the way to beat these Toffs, is to move the ball fast, and keep it away from Gawn, by pass him at all times, he means more to them than anyone, just keep it away from him , the dogs did it well. We did beat thm last time, Cox had a day out, so we dont fear them at all. 2. This week tells us whether we are the real deal or not. We got them on QB when they were in a slump and without Gawn. But now they are playing very good football. If we can overcome them, we can win the flag. I don’t expect it, as we have just been getting over lowly teams, but we are a team on the rise and they are at their peak. So now, we see where we are really at. It’s our biggest game of the year by a country mile. I am hoping that Johnson has a breakout game, as there is something special about him and it is the rise of players like him that will move us into contention. 3. Gawn played, it was May that was absent 4. Gawn's record against Collingwood is actually abysmal. He's played against Collingwood 12 times for 3 wins. His most recent win against Collingwood was in round 12, 2016. He rucked against Witts that day. He's probably due to get a kick against us, I suppose - but his presence is hardly an asset. 5. Correct weight. Gawn did cop a bit of an injury. Ginnivan kicked five, the last three were not related to frees or Melbourne trying to dislocate his neck 6. It looks like the Deeeeees are real warm favourites, many scribes saying, this is our first real test, this will find us out, can we handle the pressure, Melbourne are back to their best, etc, etc. Forgetting that we have beaten them 6-1 in our last seven matches, and pantsed them by 5 goals on QB. And forgetting, that two weeks ago, the Doggies took them to the cleaners, with ruthless, fast, aggressive play an tackling, our hallmark. Granted they had a good win over a lackluster Freo, who are tiring, but then again, we also beat the Dockers in Perth by six goals. So, there you go, in my view, the match is line ball, and is ours to lose, play as we have been, and we certainly can defeat the Toffs, no doubt. 7. I just watched the highlights of the QB game, against the Deeees. I tell you what, we were nil goals in the first qtr, then overran them ,our pressure and tackling was enormous, we just harassed them non stop, and outscored them easily in the second half. We had Henry then, but no Carmichael or Johnson , we have improved our team,, they have not. Cox was astounding, as were Daisco boys, Crisp, Elliott, and others, we did not have a poor player. We match up well on them too, play like that again, and we can take these bastards again, make NO mistake. They are far from unbeatable. ! (I think 6&7 are the same poster) 8. Re-watched the QB game yesterday, and it was very clear that they struggled badly that day with our pace and running game (and with Cox destroying their forward line entries throughout the 2nd half). Noble, Quaynor, Daicos x 2, Crisp, McCreery, Lipinski and DeGoey all broke them open repeatedly by running off half back through the centre in the 2nd half. They seem to have a more talented line up than we do on raw talent, but we can hope that they do not have answers to our game style. 9. Bloody heck I'm nervous about this match. Outright second on the ladder up for grabs 10. You oughta be nervous. This will be our toughest game for the year so far. It's a genuine litmus test of our Premiership aspirations. We don't even have to win, but we need to show we can match it with the best. 11. I’ll be shocked (and more than pleasantly surprised) if “we” can beat Melbourne this week. 12. Don't ask me why, I got a feeling the Dee's win this game by 18 points. A stat I heard a few days ago....we have not played a side in the top 8 since the bye...ironically Melbourne. I think they are a very different beast now. Massive test... but as long as we don't get blown away...I am not worried if we lose. Let's see where we are at! If we are to win, i think we have to put this game to bed early and keep a decent buffer on the dees. 12. I do hope our Coach was listening to SEN this arvo He has some ammo for our players. Daisy and Andy interviewed some Deeeees player, not sure who, and this dork said the Melbourne players view Collingwood as "a pretty good side, but also a One Trick Pony ". Really, a one trick pony ?? As a caller pointed out, "Jeezus, we have beaten them 6 out of 7 recent matches, sure taking a long time for them to figure out we are one trick ponies "! If we win, and as the Melb players trudge off the ground, id love a section of the crowd, near them to chant ONE TRICK PONYS to them as they walk off. LOL 13. It was Ed Langdon Langdon says the Magpies are “a bit of a one-trick pony” and are “all duck, no dinner” in the way they play. “One-trick pony”: Demon lights the fuse ahead of Magpies blockbuster" https://www.sen.com.au/news/2022/08/04/one-trick-pony-demon-lights-the-fuse-ahead-of-magpies-blockbuster/ 14. The loss of Adams hurts our chances because he's our version of Viney and like Viney he sets the example of unflinching football that can inspire his teammates to follow. Melbourne really have no excuses tomorrow night, outside of McDonald they have a healthy list with no others missing from their best 22. All the pressure and expectation is on them, they deserve to be favourites and if they're back in Premiership winning form like the media are suggesting should end our 10 game winning streak comfortably. 15. (This one's for binman) Just saw David King on Fox Footy discussing Collingwood. He is quite in awe of how our team is playing. He pointed out that our team is doing one major thing better than any other in the competition: gut running. We are able to get numbers into the contest more rapidly than any team because of this massive drive to run. He showed footage of how this played out in our game with PA, where we created an outnumber in our F50 due to WHE's gut running down the wing to be at the end of a chain. Likewise how in defence how we so rapidly amass numbers where the ball is in dispute to outnumber the opposition. He said: "Thiis is a team in total sync. Forget the stats, they are creating something special"
  22. I think I'm part of the problem as personally I would love it if there was a cheese board available for purchase at the MCG instead of a pie.
  23. I hated that. They had him on for an interview where David Mundy said it was his choice and all the reasons for it. 1 minute after the interview Jon Ralph reveals that he was pushed out.
  24. What's happened to locking it in our forward 50? Our forward 50 pressure has gone. I saw Spargo running around desperately all night and he didn't seem to have any impact at all.
