The Clayton Oliver Thread
Yeah. Dont get me wrong. I can see thr broader picture. Hell. I agree that we should move them on. Losing Clarry? It hurts. Regardless of circumstances. Losing him for a late pick. It burns.

The Clayton Oliver Thread
Or.. like me, posters understand everything you have said and still are a bit emotional about it? We have lost Brayshaw, Neal Bullen, Clarry and Petracca all way before we would have thought. They were a big part of a era that i loved. There were times that i wished i wasnt as fanatic about this club. I've been through all the rebuilds, the tanking and thrashings. I've read just about every training report on here since 2001. When these guys were drafted i knew we were finally for real as a club and its been a great time. I understand why they are being traded. I dont have to like it.

The Clayton Oliver Thread
I dont know how much more of trade week i can handle. I knew this off season would be a hard one, but losing Oliver really hurts. I think its because we have lost Brayshaw, Petracca and Oliver and that excellent drafting period is dead. For some reason ive been fine with losing Trac for the past 12 months. Losing Oliver for nothing is a real blow. McVee leaving has really upset me too.

The MFC Website Needs an Update
No problem with this. I think if these photos were still up once preseason games commenced i might care. Even then, the reason i cared would only be because its a sign the little things arent being done correctly which might seem small but actually matter. Right now? Meh.

The Wade Derksen Thread
Cal Twomey: Melbourne had interest in Wade Derksen but that's now gone is there a spot for Wade in 2026? Adrian Caruso (GWS list manager) : there's a potential. We have to get through trade period and see where things land. We have a couple of open rookie spots that we working to see how we use them. It might be delisted players, or a draft pick or someone like Wade. I think what happened though is because we went and replaced Wade with Jayden Laverde, given that we had the expectation that Wade was leaving... Potentially the need isn't there as much for us with Wade.

Tim Lamb Trade Updates
I listened to trade radio with GWS list boss. Not sure if this has been posted here already but we are not going to trade for Wade Derksen. No reason given. Edit: old news apparently. Already posted by dazzle in the Derksen thread.

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
O.k. which one of you guys hacked Blueys account? That was way to positive.

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
Free agency compensation: Band 1 = first round after your pick. Band 2 = end of first round. Band 3 = second round after your pick. Band 4 = end of second round. Band 5 = third round after your pick. Cal Twomey suggests the Spargo compensation is band 2 (pick 27) or 3 (pick 41) It's questionable that Collingwood would get any compensation at all for Mihocek. Even if they do it would be band 3 (pick 57). We have picks 26, 58 and 63. It would be silly to dilute our compo pick, especially if it's band 2. We may have do a trade to move pick 58 up a few places to compensate Collingwood.

"I hope this doesn't sound like sour grapes" - Chris Scott
In hindsight the logical answer was to simply cap the interchanges with 4 players. Everyone would have been equal. We have incorrectly introduced the sub rule and now can't go back to just 4 players on the bench. It has to be 5 now.

Rumours
I've been here a long time. This is standard. Last year some people were begging the riddler to come back just to make up stuff.

Rumours
Does anyone know who we were aiming to draft when we traded up and got Tholstrop? At the moment the only thing that suggests that we weren't going to get Tholstrop is that we did a late dash to his home in W.A which suggests we got word that our target wouldn't be available.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
I get it but I would also like our coach to have as much experience as possible too. Seeing what Geelong do in another finals campaign and preparing for a grand final gives King great experience.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I agree. We could save the salary space for a potential free agent or front load a few contracts, but with tassie coming in I would be keen to maximize draft picks over cap space. We don't land free agents.

I would agree to that quickly.

Farewell Judd McVee
He hasn't signed yet. We are still in rumour mode. The thread continues.

Farewell Judd McVee
I thought the same thing myself today. I don't think it's a brutal theory. I think it's plausible. Then a few hours later a poster who has proven to have a good track record tells us that Judd is about to re sign. Too many assumptions for occams razor, so leaning more towards confirmation bias at this stage.

Tassie Devils Possible Extinction
It's not dead in the water. It's a recommendation from the Tasmanian planning commission who do not make the decision. The outcome is not a shock at all. It does give parliamentary members a solid reason to vote no that they can hang their hat on without commiting political suicide. That's about it. I doubt there would be anyone in Tasmanian parliament who would change their vote based on it. Their minds would have been made up by now.

Media Madness
Not true. Stories quickly leaked out of the club about Christians motivations and players opinions about his commitment.

Bassett leaves the Dees
The coaching landscape is pretty grim these days. Rumors were we were struggling to find anyone last year when we brought in Basset and Jones. I'm more hoping that he does have mates rather than expecting him to at this stage.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
I just listened to the Real Footy Podcast. 33:30 mark if you are interested. Unfortunately Sam McClure was on in place of Micheal Gleason so it was a Caro/McClure horrorshow. McClure : "have they given the job to the second choice?" Wilson : "yep." Caro goes on to say that NB seriously considered not going through the process but felt compelled to do so, he was told by friends to be wary of melbounre and seriously wasn't prepared to give up tas. She said that the Demons got the best person who wanted the job. She thought the selection committee was unusual. Jobe Watson being under qualified due to not being involved in a similar process before and not having an inside knowledge of the demons. Frank Ponissi was also apparently an odd choice despite being highly respected. McClure implied that Skipworth pulled out because he thought the panels mind was made up early but said he didn't know for sure. When McClure brings up the next topic about the AFL chair commission position Caro says "speaking about messes." Jack Niall as always was great and tried to insert some common sense to the conversation.
