I must have missed the news of the club offering Nev a job. Interesting.

2024 Phantom Drafts
That's fair and the most likely outcome. I think a number of us who have focused on the draft since the end of the season are happy with the top picks but also wishing we had another pick around the 20s. Pushing pick 9 back a few places wouldn't be bad if we were still getting our target (similar to the Pickett situation).

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
Not even 1? Jesus. Imagine how good he would be if he had normal knees

The Alix 'Flying Viking' Tauru thread
Very hard to place where he will go. Both he and Armstrong have come from nowhere to be in the top 15 of most phantom drafts. Tauru looks to be the better footballer of the two to me, he attacks the ball so well, but looks better as a defender than a forward. I'm Tipping that Richmond will take him with one of there top 10 picks or that North will split pick 2 to go back in the draft a bit to pick him or Armstrong up. There is every possibility that they pick either Armstrong or Tauru with pick 2. If he was there at pick 9 then we would have to consider him heavily.

The Tobie Travaglia Thread
A very real possibility here. I reckon he could play round 1 at HBF with Rivers pushing into the middle. Good size. Excellent footy IQ.

Sam Weideman has been delisted
Sam was always going to take time. The more time that went on the more he seemed to get in his own head which worked the other way. His first year at Casey looked great and then it all went downhill. Sam had that awesome elim final against Geelong. I'll always remember him for that mark over Blicavs in the first and the look of shock on Blicavs face. I was there that night with 95k people and reckon I've watched the highlights a minimum of 50 times This is how I will choose to remember him.

Why no key forward?
100% agree. It is probably the hardest position to fill though. A player around 200cm tall who needs to be good enough as a tall forward to warrant selection. Jackson and the DeKonning boys are the standouts. Sam Darcy for bulldogs. Hayden McLean for Swans. Then you start moving into the Mason Cox territory.

I thought 49 was slightly unders myself so understand the f3 swap. Personally I thought we should have gotten something more back from the Essendon trade.

Dan Houston
They didn't want pick 13, Atkins or Lukosius. Big winners.

Port the immediate losers. Pies did ok. Suns did well.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
So to fix the mistake of paying overs they pay overs again? Let's hope so.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
Essendon were involved. It was shown. Probably wouldn't be if it was us and Goldcoast.

Wade Derksen
Meh. I would remind GWS that we were easy to deal with and reasonable to deal with when we traded Bedford to them. If they don't trade Derksen for a packet of chips then I hope we dig out heals in the next time it comes to trading with them.

Welcome to Demonland: Harry Sharp
We all thought it was 2 years, but the list management pinned thread (which is fantastic) has a bit of chatter that it was three years due to a trigger of some sort. Either way, he is off the list which is a great result.

Max Gawn was drafted in 2009. 2010 = 0 games 2011 = 4 games 2012 = 0 games. 4 games in three years before he went on to develop into one of the best ruckman of all time. Rucks take longer.

Trade Targets
McHenry? I hope you washed your hands after you posted this. 🤮

The Draft Pick Upgrade Thread
We also need to consider the benefit of bringing in a player a year earlier and having them in our system developing for 12 months. If we believe our window is open now then sooner would be better than later. Especially if we are considering a tall like Tauru or Armstrong. What's more value, pick 13 this year with 12 months development, or pick 6 next year? I would be very hesitant to trade next year's first as it could very well be a top 5 pick.

Welcome to Demonland: Tom Campbell
Super happy that we have a backup ruck. A good result. Hoping he takes the primary ruck spot at Casey and rotating with Verrall in the forward line. Verrall looked decent as a forward at times this year. If that plays out then we will have a very tall forward line. I'm tipping that Fullarton will be sent to the backline which hopefully resurrects his career.
