Oliver Trade Rumours
Maybe. I owe some people on here and apologies and I realise how rose coloured my views have been. Looking back I can see how I've stuck my head in the sand and thought thing would just turn out alright. I'm as disappointed as everyone else.

Oliver Trade Rumours
Michael Gleeson has reported on it. Read the article. One of the few journalists who has maintained credibility over a long career and doesn't chase a controversy for the clicks. He's weighed in because he firmly believes what he has heard. It's the club that has started this. Clayton is on the market for the second year in a row at the clubs request. Clubs don't trade their best players for no reason, Clayton being traded is what the club believes is the best idea. He has less value now than he did last year and we will get unders in return. As reported, the club is in crisis. It's time for us to accept it and stop trying to blame McClure, Morris and Gleeson for telling us the truth. A sad time for the club, but the club lives on and the sun will rise tomorrow.

If I get another email from Gary Pert I think I'm going to throw up.

This gets done. You don't hold depth players who want out who aren't likely to get a game next season. Hogan, Cadman and Ricardi are all options ahead of him already playing. Max Gruzewski got a few games this year too.

Robbo parts company with AFL360
I only found this segment recently but have quickly become a fan. They allow enough time for Max to explain his opinions and experiences rather than look for the headline or controversy which is nice. Max is always great to listen to.

Now that is interesting. HOT DEMAND FOR SUNS PICK https://www.afl.com.au/news/1235642 GOLD Coast's pick 12 has become the in-demand selection of this year's first round, with a stack of clubs chasing the prized choice. Clubs are chasing the pick given it would likely otherwise be eaten up by a bid on Suns Academy prospect Leo Lombard, who would be expected to attract rival interest before that choice. It has left the Suns again with the hottest draft choice up for grabs following the strong pursuit for its pick four last year, which ended with the Western Bulldogs taking Ryley Sanders (at No.6 after free agency compensation and a bid pushed it back). Carlton, Collingwood, North Melbourne and Melbourne are among the clubs with interest in the Suns' second first-round pick for this year, with Greater Western Sydney and Adelaide also among the clubs expected to look at the pick. The Suns last year creatively turned their top pick into multiple trade deals, spawning extra selections for 2023 and 2024 that allowed them to match bids on four first-round Academy players as well as enter this year's trade period with three first-rounders. – Callum Twomey

Nathan Bassett to Dees as Forwards Coach?
The Footy Podcast (I listen through Spotify) One of the better podcasts out there in my opinion.Very light hearted and not for everyone but has certainly found a niche. The success he has with his podcast has got him a contract with channel 7 who identified the gap in media coverage. If you love watching Footy Classified or the Sunday Footy Show then this won't be for you. He was on Gus and Gawny in one of the last episodes. He did a 35 min podcast with Max Gawn before the grand final which is worth a listen even if you don't like his regular podcasts.

That's my whole point though. Reports were that team mates were unhappy with the Noosa trip. So much that he spoke to the players about it once he returned. Giving your all to the workplace doesn't involve going to Noosa for rehab. I understand that the situation was delicate and unique. I'm sure the players accepted the response from Trac for his reasons for needing to get away from the club for his mental well-being. Posting product placement pictures from your time away in my opinion doesn't help with the perception that he put his brand ahead of the workplace. It's not even a storm in a teacup, so it will be the last I post about it.

While it does make me cringe a bit, it's not that he wants to build his brand that is the issue. I've unfollowed him as his posts don't give me what I'm looking for. The issue is that he spoke to the players about how important it was for him to get away from the club and get to Noosa to relax. The players were annoyed that Trac wasn't completing his rehab at the club like others have to. He puts himself before the club. After talking to the players about this to clarify, he posts product placement pictures during his time there. I feel like this is the perception from his teammates about what he is about, and now there is a post confirming it. Sure, it probably took his partner and hour to get it done, but the perception is already there and now for me it's been confirmed. How do his teammates feel about it? Probably not much, it's not a big deal, but it adds more weight to the situation.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick #37
To add to the above, Collingwood traded it to Carlton for a future 2023 2nd round (pick 39). The following season they packaged it up as part of the Ginnivan trade to Hawks. Pies to Hawks: Ginnivan, pick 39*, 2024 2nd round (pick 33), 2024 4th round (pick 67). Hawks to Pies: Pick 33 (Tew Jiath), 2024 2nd round (pick 30) , 2024 3rd round (pick 51) *Pick 39 was again traded from Hawks to Brisbane as part of the Jack Gunston trade. After father son and academy picks it drifted to 42 (Luke Lloyd).

Christian Petracca
Does anyone else follow Petracca on Instagram? Today he posted a series of photos of his time in Noosa when he was recovering from injury. 'Throwback to my happy place' It's a paid partnership with a range of Samsung Galaxy products being placed in the photos. Is it any wonder his teammates are getting frustrated with him when he post these things? He claims he needed to get away from the club for his own recovery but posts these cringe branding posts. Just about every single social media post is him plugging some paid partnership of some variety. Not the biggest deal in the world but leaves a slight bad taste in my mouth.

I think we should start a rolling thread of all the [censored] these guys dish up. Once again 4 or 5 old white men sit around and talk about how good the winning team are and how the losing team is a train wreck and should sack the coach. Rinse and repeat every single week. We deserve better than this.

How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
Based purely on my memory of the time, we were reported to have been after Amon big time. He didn't choose us. I really wanted him.

Trade Targets
I just am so disappointed. I don't really care what classification he is. He isn't good at either ruck or forward. I don't think he is even benefiting Casey.
-
Trade Targets
He was traded as a ruck. All the talk about him not being a ruck is because we got him in to play ruck and realised that he can't play ruck. Even our own website has him listed as a ruck. Now we have to get another ruck.

The AFL Academies- Lions, Suns, Giants, Swans
The academy's are great for the game. The perception of AFL in the northern states has changed significantly. NRL will always be king up there, but there are a heap of kids playing AFL as their second sport and when they realise they don't have the size to continue NRL they switch to AFL. These kids wouldn't have been drafted to AFL without having the academy's. It will take another generation before this solidifies to be what the AFL intended. In the meantime the smaller clubs will suffer. As mentioned by another poster, we are not Geelong with their wide recruitment areas. We do not play in front of big crowds and we don't even have a big modern training base (yet). So yeah... Academy's are great for the game. Terrible for us.

Brisbane 2024 Round 1 Pick
Pick 46 came into 42 after father son / academy point matches. We traded pick 42 on draft night to the Saints for their 2024 third round pick which is currently pick 45 (347 points). Pick 45 wasn't mentioned in the hypothetical trade but would be the difference in points needed in my previous post. This would mean we would have pick 5, 15, 61.

Brisbane 2024 Round 1 Pick
1494 points is just shy to the equivalent of pick 9. According to phantom drafts, Ashcroft will go pick 1 or 2. Let's assume it's pick 2 as most clubs who have the first pick won't bid on a player. Pick 2 is 2517 points. With a 20% discount for father sons that will equal 2014 points. Brisbane don't have a current second round pick as they traded it last year. Their next picks as it currently stands is 53 (233 points) and 69 (49 points). 1776 points in total after the hypothetical trade. Technically they can go into deficit which will effect their 1st pick of 2025. I doubt the suggested trade will be enough points to satisfy Brisbane, but it's not far off.

There seem to be a number of regular posters which are frustrated by the current state of mainstream AFL media. I made a decision to limit how much time I read or listen to it at the end of last year and it has made me appreciate football much more this year. I avoid anything with Kane Cornes, Damian Barrett or Sam McClure. It's damn hard to avoid as whatever these guys drone on about ends up feeding the wider AFL supporter base and the conversations being had amongst fans. There is a growing number of podcasts and alternative media which is starting to emerge though as there are plenty of others out there seeking something other than 4 white guys talking about how great the winning teams are and how bad the losing teams are each week.

Great points It's Time. The Brayshaw and Smith situations definitely made his job difficult. Smith would have been getting games this year. This was completely out of his hands. I don't attribute the loss of some key depth to him either as I feel that was driven by team selection and positions. Jordon, Grundy and to a lesser extent, Harmes would have been great this year. I would have loved Harmes to be fit and firing heading into the 2022 finals campaign, but feel he was disillusioned already by then and it was best to part ways. I do think that he is ultimately responsible as the list manager for the players we brought in recently. I don't buy into the argument that the recruitment team should bare responsibility too. They have all been busts based on output in 2024 and I don't have any faith of better returns from them in 2025. Your posts have really made me think about which decisions in isolation have led me to this opinion. The answer is McAdams. A high price was paid and if he had been a B+ instead of a D then I would likely be thinking differently. It's not just that decision in isolation though is it? That combined with the other decision which are also busts add up.

Non event in the terms of the conversation being had. I really like Noble as a player. I think Gold Coast are getting a good one. My argument was based on Binman using it as an example for his opinion. I questioned it and he kindly repsonded to clarified his thoughts. Which I want to point out how much I appreciated. I enjoy discussing opinions in a reasonable manner. I often post things that people don't agree with. My first reaction is usually to get annoyed that my message hasn't been received as intended. Most of the time I can't be bothered replying to clarify as it often just turns into a [censored] fight depending on the poster. Noble is a solid player. He isn't the pies best player or on a huge salary like Petracca is which is what context I was comparing it to when saying 'non event'

Christian Petracca
I disagree with minor things, but not worth further debate. I always appreciate your detailed replies.
-
Christian Petracca
I'm not necessarily in agreement or disagreement with your post but the quoted part isn't valid to the conversation. Tigers are in a hard rebuild. Trading those players out is a blessing and nobody is reporting that they are leaving because they are saying the culture is terrible. Noble is a non event. Bottom six player going to another club. That happens every year.

Rumours appearing online stating that he has agreed to join Demons. Nothing official. Edit: Still nothing filtering to any media outlets. This may just be supporter filled lies.

Brayden Preuss - Delisted
Drafted by North Melbourne with pick 15 in the 2015 rookie draft. Played 8 games in three years before being traded to the Demons along with pick 62 (Marty Hore) for Dom Tyson in 2018 off season. Played 10 games for us as a backup to Max until he was traded to GWS for pick 31 in 2020. We bundled up pick 31 with a heap of other picks to eventually get the picks for Laurie and Bowey. Played 10 games for GWS. Consistently injured.
