Nibbler would have flagged it early with the club to allow us time to organise a suitable trade with the relevant club to allow for a quick trade. Trade week is a ****show if you leave it late and risks not getting it done. We would have been in talks with other clubs by now. Which means the leak could have come from anywhere.

All I could read was that he is requesting a trade to South Australia for family reasons before the paywall kicked in.

Not a joke. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/money-talks-premiership-demon-to-request-trade-20240812-p5k1rn.html A Melbourne clubman has notified the Demons he would like to leave Victoria at the end of the season for family reasons.

I hate this thread. I don't get to all the games anymore. Life has changed. Ive been to the last few though. It was really disheartening looking around and seeing most of the stadium empty. I don't blame others like this thread does, but the club needs to boost attendances somehow, or the AFL will change things for us.

There are some other vids showing more of his inside work. Loves a strong tackle if he can't win it.

Lalor is the one I've had my eye on. Will go around our first round pick according to the phantom drafts. https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/sam-lalor/

Viney is one of my favourites. He was just what we needed at the time and helped turn the culture around. But I wouldn't be worried if he left based on future output. I would be worried about why he is leaving. If it's Jack that instigated the trade it means there is something very rotten going on at the club.

Which player would you have picked instead of Kentfield who would have made an immediate impact?
  9. BAMF replied to McQueen's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep. A shame. Dominated the wing like Langdon picking up 30+ disposals every week for a decade but will be remembered for one terrible moment that he clearly regretted instantly.
  10. Played 3 AFL games this year Kicked 2 goals in his AFL debut. Not much else to write home about though albeit from limited game time. Pretty sure he was injured and subbed out of his last game. He would be a great trade target for us. Imagine yelling Rooooo and/or Gruuuuuu everytime the the ball goes into our forward line!

The McAdams trade was a complete blunder. One that no doubt will get pointed out in trade period when we all start focusing on who we could have picked up with a very good second round pick in a deep draft. Fullarton was likewise terrible. Billings I can live with as it was basically a Harmes replacement in trade value, albeit a downgrade in the end in both player quality and draft value marginally. The trading of second and third round picks to upgrade 3 spots also woeful.

  13. I agree. Yeah, we have been hit by injuries, but all clubs lose players throughout the year. Our list of players who are out isnt that high. It's our lack of depth that is really concerning. If we had better depth maybe some players who are out of form would be listed on the injury list?
  14. Good point. Hard to know how close we were to landing him without knowing the conversations taking place. You would assume that we knew the asking price before trading up though?
  15. My post needs to be approved before posting? Is it cause I used the word [censored]?
  16. Very disappointed. I pretty much wrote the season off after the final loses last year. I thought we might sneak into finals of we were lucky. Tonight was a real low. I went expecting a loss but hoping to see our young guys perform, but it was a [censored] show. No glimmer of hope there tonight. Felt like a 100 point loss, and it should have been.
  17. What was with JVR goal not allowed. At the ground and no idea why the review said it hit the post?

I asked my West Coast supporter mate. Reads the play really well. Great size. Was drafted at 195cm but has grown to 200. Plays like his size. Good overhead mark. Often intercept marks due to size and ability to read the play, but is very slow and will get burnt on the lead by opposition forwards. Consistently injuries have limited has opportunities.

Any chance we get both Cummings and Perryman as free agents? Perryman being offered 800k per year by previous articles. We have the salary relief from Brayshaw plus some older players coming out of big contracts. Probably wishful thinking on my part.
  21. Just the way I remember it. Not a draft expert by any means. My post was just pointing out that we didn't 'over look' Gruzewski and let's judge the call of Jefferson over Gruzewski once they have a a modicum more games under their belt.
  22. Hardly. We took Jefferson (pick 15) who was widely touted as the 2nd best forward in the draft behind Cadman (pick 1) Gruzewski (pick 22) had a few question marks on him at the time and went at the start of the second round. We didnt have another pick until Adams (pick 38). Gruzewski was playing forward and back and was listed at the same height as JVR who we had taken a year earlier. We needed a taller player to compliment him and it was an obvious decision to pick Jefferson. With neither Jefferson or Gruzewski playing much/any AFL matches, it's way to early for any comparisons or wrist slashing. I would be happy if we were targeting him for a trade though.
  23. Optimistic but realistic going into this one. A tough game on paper. So many unexpected results for many teams this year though.

You think? He won't be cheap imo. I guess it's what you are thinking we will have to give up for him compared to his quality level. All Australian last year. Contracted for another 2 years.
  25. This comment from bomberblitz will resonate with a few. Umpires gave us 3 goals when the game was truly over Disgraceful evening up I have ever seen- umpire no 22 take a bow
